@@arbaaznoor7810 it has become a tradition for the Hindi wallahs to quote the constitution. It’s said that partial knowledge is dangerous and you seem to be such a person. Please don’t try to teach a southern Indian. The people who penned the constitution were mainly southern Indians. It looks like you don’t know the difference between the state government and the union government. Read Article 345. It says one or more languages spoken in the state OR Hindi. It’s not AND Hindi. So Bangalore has rejected Hindi. Have you learnt Boolean Algebra? The below is the extract of articles 343 and 345 of the constitution. *Article 343. Official language of the **_Union_** - The official language of the **_Union_** shall be Hindi in Devnagari script. The form of numerals to be used for the official purposes of the Union shall be the international form of Indian numerals* . *Article 345 Official language or languages of a STATE- subject to the provisions of articles 346 and 347, the legislature of a STATE **_may by law adopt any one or more of the languages in use in the STATE_** OR Hindi as the Language or Languages to be used for all or any of the official purposes of that STATE* : So the integrity of the constitution is in tact and there is no “violation” of any provision of the constitution since the STATE has a right to implement its own language as opposed to the UNION.

this is what I tried to tell the Hindi protagonists for a very long time. Every time I used to write the following, would be met with slurs and retorts like BC and MC. I tried to be civil but more was I bombarded after which I changed tack and went on the offensive and began attacking the root itself which was the language. I am extremely good in Hindi even better than Kannada or Samskritam which I have learnt also in school. So I can hit where it hurts the most. Remember a doctor can heal but can also cause grievous hurt to a patient. A knife can cut vegetables and meat but it also can kill. So when challenges are placed in front of a learned man he can retaliate and that can be extremely painful. to me a language is something that is a transfer mechanism which transfers thought from one head to the other head/s without dilution and no transfer mechanism is bad. Yes they may have their idiosyncrasies and peculiarities but that’s the beauty of any language. Now on to what I was trying to convey to my Hindi patrons in a civil way. Hindi is not understood by a vast majority of Indians. And the vast majority of Indian still live in villages where they speak their own language. Only one in 3 people in India understand Hindi. If you know how to count then Hindi speakers are a minority. Secondly, for those whose mother tongue is not Hindi, Hindi is as much a foreign language as English. Then the question that should be asked is what are the relative advantages of learning English over Hindi? For the benefit of those Hindi nationalist fanatics, let me explain why South Indians prefer English: When educated North Indian come down South and settle in South Indian cities, they feel it below their dignity to learn the local language. Also, however highly educated they are, it becomes very difficult for them to twist the tongue like South Indians, which is a pre-requisite to learn any South Indian languages. The script also has a lot of curves and turns and hence the cuss word “jalebi”. To spare them the trouble and torture, South Indians prefer to speak to them in English rather than in the local language. From the time of independence, North Indian nationalists like Dhulekar (he said “People who do not know Hindi have no right to stay in India” ) have declared Hindi as the unofficial national language of India. The Central Government during Nehru’s time made every effort to replace English with Hindi as its official language. The discrimination was so huge that South Indian were forced to learn Hindi to be eligible for Central Government jobs. My siblings and I got certificates in Hindi like Madhyama and Pravesh by writing the Hindi exams held by the Hindi Dakshina Bharat prachar sabha. The south has been getting the short end of the stick since independence. As a result, a South Indian found themselves at a disadvantage compared to Hindi speakers and had to find their own way out. We from the day of independence have always been subservient to the Hindi speakers. Luckily, being focussed on English education, South Indians learnt software engineering and joined the software revolution when the Central Government did not have an inkling of what was happening in the outside world with regard to IT. It was English that gave the South Indians a window to the outside world while subjects of King Mulayam Singh Yadav his son Akilesh and King Lallu Prasad Yadav and now the slut Nitish kumar were /are happy speaking only one language i.e. Hindi. We the southern Indians started to migrate to other countries which led to a shortage of skilled workers which is now filled by the northern Indians . Added to this is the birth rate which is well below the replacement rate in southern Indian states. It’s around 1.7 compared to 3 in the Hindi belt. Hence, South Indians prefer English over Hindi because, English is an international language and the language of science and technology and trade while Hindi is not even a national language, which would not survive outside the Northern Gangetic belt without the crutches of the Central Government. *Lastly, it is English that unites Indians while Hindi divides. This is the bitter truth* . The question itself is in English it's neither in hindi nor in any of the south indian languages. English receives more audience. And to conclude, dear Hindi protagonist, why don’t you make an effort to learn atleast one South Indian language, instead of asking South Indians to speak in Hindi to massage your ego? Each of these languages is a classical language with a history and literature and record of usage spreading back to to 1-3 millennia.

@@shaistasd3826 you asked why English? I ask why Hindi? What has Hindi given our country except grief. English helps bring home the bacon. It’s a language that has helped india become a global power. It’s earning precious foreign exchange to the country for the last 24 years. IT without English is unimaginable. *Since data is the new oil English is here to stay* .Without English India could never have become a powerhouse in software. So in the best interest of the country the states must use the local language and English. In the year 2000, South Indians made up 25% of India’s population. Today’s estimate is that they constitute 18%. That’s a reduction of 3.5% per decade. At the same time, population of the north is expected to stabilise by 2060. Average TFR of South Indian states is around 1.7, way below replacement level of 2.1, while in the north it is above replacement level. If Hindi is growing it’s because the pastime of the Hindi belt is to produce babies 👶 like rats 🐀 . Expanding population needs Lebensraum (habitat), has to move somewhere. They all can’t go to some other country. Conveniently, population in the South is decreasing and so the people from the Hindi belt are moving down south. Even being 18% of the population, the South contributes around 30% to the national exchequer. *Nearly half of foreign exchange earnings are from the region* . It is the most industrialised region along with Maharashtra and Gujarat. Declining population means there’s a shortage of workers to keep the economy running. Factors such as expanding population needing living space, employment and declining population needing workforce converge to drive north to south migration. That’s why you Hindi speakers are in Bangalore. There’s another crucial matter that most people are unaware of or indifferent to - socioeconomic stagnation of the Gangetic states, while the region’s problems are compounding by the day. Sure, there’s massive infrastructure being built in the region - world class highways, dedicated freight rail corridors, airport like train stations, largest cricket stadium, biggest mandir, temple corridors, Vande Bharats, etc. None of that will matter if the region does not industrialise. Industrialisation can only happen if there’s a pool of educated, skilled workforce. It will also not happen if there’s social disharmony and violence and your northern states only know how to be “violent”. Apart from setting up medical and engineering colleges in Hindi medium (for which there are no takers), one does not see any grand visionary plans to bring about change in the region. Even if there are plans, they will take several decades to come to fruit. There is not any sensible or rational plans for the region. This will prove to be the biggest challenge and threat to the unity and integrity of the country like what’s happening now. Question is *Instead of advising the South Indians to learn Hindi why can’t folks like you stay back in your states and develop your states* . Hindi speakers want Hindi in all parts of the country but the locals will resist. I hope skirmishes like this don’t turn into a blood bath wherein the locals turn against people like you. You all seem to forget the adage “be a Roman in Rome” or “ Jaise desh Vaisa besh”. Let us hope for the best. I fondly hope the visitors assimilate with the locals rather than forcing the locals to learn an “outsiders” language like Hindi. You may argue why did the locals learn English. It’s because the base for education in Southern india was laid by the British and the convent schools and that legacy continues. Why are the locals reluctant to learn Hindi. 1. In the 60s the politicians lied to the people of the south that Hindi was the national language. The southern states don’t trust the northern politicians in spite of the fact the South Indians are far more rooted to their faith and culture. That’s why today south India does not have BJP. People can term the south Indians as rice bags or ISIS supporters but all the faiths live in harmony in the southern states. Beef 🥩 is a common staple in south India in spite of the fact a common man is more religious and rooted to his culture. People are not polarised like the Hindi states based on faith. *Now they see folks like you are trying to “polarise” society based on language* . The auto driver here is not a politician but is a man on the ground. The politicians of course use this sentiment to their advantage. Karnataka in fact wants to move away from the 3 language formula to the 2 language formula making Kannada a compulsory subject. 2. All educational institutions in southern India are the gifts of the Christian missionaries and the educated locals not Hindi speakers. 3. Contrary to popular belief Hindi is a very difficult language for a local to master which is the also the case with most Hindi speakers to learn a southern language. The reasons are few a. Hindi does not have a neutral gender whereas all southern languages do just like Sanskrit. South Indians instead of being appreciated for speaking a “foreign” language are made fun of by the Hindi speakers when they make an error in the gender. b. If the word ends with an “a”, in Hindi it’s not pronounced. It’s Kannada not Kannad it’s Kerala not Keral. It’s Mahabharata not Mahabharath. People find it hard to believe as to why Haryana is not pronounced as Haryan or Noida as Noid or Sita as “sit”. c. Many had to cut short their education because they failed in Hindi in the tenth grade as most could not afford tuition to master Hindi and they are leading their lives of not being professionals. 4. You call English a slavish language. So the question is should the non Hindi speakers become slaves to the Hindi speakers because the alternative proposed is Hindi? To a local both English and Hindi are languages of the “outsiders”. Are the Hindi speakers blind to the benefits given out by English? The other question asked is if English is a slavish language why are the Hindi speakers euphoric to the game of cricket 🏏? Cricket must also be seen as a left over of the colonialists. Why only cricket what about the railways, airports and ports, postal service etc. aren’t they the remnants of the English? So why will the non Hindi people learn or love Hindi???? When they see people like you their hate only increases. With folks like you who are using incendiary language, the hate for Hindi will only get worse.

Hindi indeed was there when the metro 🚇 began but it will never 👎 ever come back either in the billboards of the city or in the Namma Metro 🚇 . Perhaps only Hindi speakers are ignorant! They are living under the "misconception" that India means only Hindi & If they know about the "linguistic diversity" of India, no problem will arise again! & India has no -national language- or any -monolingual policy- and the official languages of Karnataka state are "Kannada and English", Why Karnataka should use Hindi? No state's language can be imposed on another state. If the ignorance of Hindi speakers ends, India will be bright. 😊🙏

@@durgamahto676 English helps bring home the bacon. If Hindi is growing it’s because the pastime of the Hindi belt will a to produce babies. *Now they see folks like you and these women trying to “polarise” society based on language* . So their question is should we become slaves to the Hindi speakers because the alternative proposed is Hindi? To a local both English and Hindi are languages of the “outsiders”. Are the Hindi speakers blind to the benefits given out by English? The other question asked is if English is a slavish language why are the Hindi speakers euphoric to the game of cricket 🏏? Cricket must also be seen as a left over of the colonialists. Why only cricket what about the railways, airports and ports, postal service etc. aren’t they the remnants of the English? So why will they learn or love Hindi???? With folks like you who are using incendiary language, the hate for Hindi will only get worse.

@@durgamahto676 a few years ago Hindi was kicked out of Bangalore Metro when phase 2 was opened. Before that between phase 1 and phase 2 there were indeed 3 languages in the metro 🚇 stations and trains 🚆. The Hindi wallah in charge of the metro just a few days after phase 2 was opened to the public decided to have “only” Hindi in a couple of stations enraging the locals resulting in Hindi being booted out. Today the policy is to have a person in charge of the metro who can speak and articulate the happenings of the metro in Kannada and the requirement is that the people managing the metro must necessarily know Kannada. So when Hindi was shunted out the billboards were replaced with only 2 languages and the Hindi words inside the trains that were purchased during phase 1 were masked. This was because of the policy not to have Hindi anywhere in the metro 🚇. So anybody who peels the tape is a vandal. So this video is about punishing vandalism.

Who is telling you to learn Hindi if the sticker is put in the metro? Bangalore has always been receptive to different languages. Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu-speaking migrants have settled here over generations. So have Marwadis and Maharashtrians. English came in through the British Cantonment. The IT boom brought young people from all over the country and the infrastructure boom brought blue collar workers from Bihar and Odisha. There has also been a big influx of students and working professionals from the Northeast. Some of them are linguistically challenged; others pick up Kannada with ease. Some, especially the young ones, even have become multilingual. And some stubbornly refuse to learn and they must be slippered and bad mouthed. It is this refusal to learn which antagonises most locals. The once-accommodating Bangalorean has become resistant to Hindi now - 7 years ago Hindi sign boards at Metro stations were vandalised because they carried names in that language and Hindi was unceremoniously kicked and booted out. Unlike Tamil Nadu, where anti-Hindi agitations have been going on for several decades, Karnataka has never really taken a strong stand. However things have changed now as another wave of Hindi imposition in the offing. Hindi must not be allowed in the state. It’s a ghatiya and neech basha which is totally illogical. It’s a language that does not have a neutral language. Why Hindi in Bangalore???

North India makes up some 77% of India’s total population. The Northern Hindi states send 43% representation to Lok Sabha. The additional 7.1% (38 seats) needed to form a ‘simple majority’ is easily achieved by co-opting some legislators from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Bihar, Assam, Bengal or Punjab etc.,. Since, North has proximity to power in Delhi, the political capital of India, and it makes up the majority, the South Indians are virtually ‘TOOTHLESS’ in their ability to form a government at Delhi. all such narratives that “North is the cultural capital of India, North Indians are elite, North Indians are rich, North Indians are superior to South Indians” etc.. are propagated by North Indians and so called national parties. Jingoism like Hindi Hindu Hindustan is the common parlance. Not knowing Hindi is considered to be a traitor of India. Now my comments Northies support lawlessness and think it’s a fashion to break the law. When questioned other issues are brought up. Ignorance of law is no excuse in any part of the civilised world. This act of peeling a sticker is an act of “vandalism”. Not having put Kannada in the billboard is a violation of the local law. But no you won’t question as to why the law in the first place was brazenly violated. You will raise your voice against those who want all to follow the law. Similarly you skirt the issue of why Hindi in Bangalore when the local language is Kannada. Hindi does not even figure in the top 6 most spoken languages in Bangalore but yet you want Hindi to be on the billboards. Aren’t the others citizens of this country??? Even god can’t help Hindi wallahs. You all are a gone case. Good luck.

@@mayankjha9653 let us see how you the Einstein of the 21st century handle the truth. a few years ago Hindi was kicked out of Bangalore Metro when phase 2 was opened.

How come your language is threatened by outsiders? They were not supposed to know the language as good as locals even though they learnt it. This is the most illogical argument I have seen by the keyboard warriors. If you truly love your language, then speak at home with your children in Kannada.Dont falunt English. And I am not saying it blindly. I have seen many people from Karnataka talking to their kids in Kannada. Then make efforts, real efforts to help outsiders learn the local language, not by spewing hate, but by coming up with ways that can truly help. Otherwise this is going to be a never ending keyboard battle, that's the harsh truth.

@@jagadishprasadsahoo4322 you say we the locals have too much of ego. Why not! Read the article below. Our politicians in spite of fact knowing that 86% of the workforce are locals still want to bring in a bill for reservation for jobs. That is the difference between your Lallu politicians and our politicians down south. This is an article in the Newspaper The Deccan Herald dated 12th August 2024. The headline is *Max jobs in Karnataka state industries held by Kannadigas* The numbers come after a controversial move to reserve jobs for locals in the private sector by the Siddaramaiah government led to backlash from India Inc and was paused. _Kannadigas hold a majority of jobs in industries, including multinational manufacturing firms, in Karnataka, according to latest government data_ . The numbers come after a controversial move to reserve jobs for locals in the private sector by the Siddaramaiah government led to backlash from India Inc and was paused. Data shows there are more Kannadigas in senior management (Group A) jobs, with the percentage of locals increasing in the ascending order of job categories Groups B, C and D, which constitute supervisory, clerical and routine roles. Karnataka has 1,659 medium & large industries, 87 multinationals in the manufacturing sector and 46 public enterprises. Together, they have 8.06 lakh employees, of which 6.96 lakh (86%) are locals, according to data from the Department of Commerce & Industries. “As and when industries get the right local people, they are appointed without us having to ask,” Industries Minister M B Patil told DH. At present, state policy insists that any industry receiving incentives from the government should appoint Kannadigas in all Groups C & D jobs, while ensuring their overall share in employment is 70%. “We are also requesting industries that don’t take any incentives from the government to consider hiring more locals,” Patil said. Patil also underlined the need to have locals who are ready with skills. “For example, we know what skills a company like Foxconn requires. We’ll make our people skills-ready,” he said. Last month, the Siddaramaiah government approved the Karnataka State Employment of Local Candidates in Industries, Factories and Other Establishments Bill. This required industries to appoint local candidates (Kannadigas) to 50% of management and 70% of non-management jobs. The bill was put in cold storage after it was vociferously opposed by the private sector. While employment numbers with the government show that industries are meeting the jobs-for-locals demand, it does not mean that the reservation plan is forever junked. “Given the migration towards the south, there will be a jostling for jobs,” IT/BT Minister Priyank Kharge said. “So, it’s my duty to ensure jobs for locals while making them supremely skilled.” New rules? It is learnt that the Labour Department has drafted new Karnataka Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Rules that define 'Kannadiga' as one whose mother tongue is Kannada. One should have passed a 100-mark Kannada exam from Class 1 to 10, or studied in a Kannada-medium school. The rules also propose 100% reservation for Kannadigas in Groups C & D. The Department of Commerce & Industries has opined against this, sources said.

I know a couple of my relatives who are in their 60’s that come to Narayana Hridayalaya for quarterly check-ups. They use the metro extensively and since they are elderly and not very educated, they can’t read English. There are thousands of people like this that come to Bengaluru for similar reasons. Let’s not inconvenience them for politics. I understand if Hindi is put over Kannada, why the public would be angry. But it’s not, Hindi is added so that people who are not well versed in English or Kannada would be able to navigate the city. If all of us start fighting in the name of regionalism, the very fabric of our society will be torn to shreds. Please don’t allow the politicians to divide us further.

And nobody abuses these guys, instead these people should start respecting the place where they stay and the language they speak. Most of them from the northern part of the country don't even know how to pronounce the name of the state and language. Let me correct it, it's not "KARNATAK" & "KANNAD", it's "KARNATAKA" & "KANNADA". We don't expect 100% fluency from your side, atleast learn the basic communication for your own good rather than mocking the local language in the accent that has been stereotyped by Bollywood. For all the empty heads who are gonna bash me with "Hindi is the National Language". Nowhere in the constitution it is written that "Hindi is the National Language of the country" it's the language spoke by a lot of people. Understand and get your facts right first.

@@bluesapphire2103 this is for folks like you and got this in Quora. This is the tragedy of Indian demo-craZy! All ILLITERATE Hindiwalas, panwalas, panipuriwalas, chaddiwalas, chaiwalas, pakodawalas, securitywalas have become LĀLĀS of this country today just because North has a higher population than South. Good luck.

The simple fact that numbers will always win. There was a time when bangalore probably understood only kannada and English. But with jobs abs the economic boom since 2000s it attracted a lot of people. Natives who held service jobs (autos, shops, hotels) wanted to cater to all these people so said service was provided. Now this attracted more and more people who found it appealing to move to bangalore/Bengaluru because they could use their language. The reason this happened is because all these service providers wanted money. If you want to cater to people of your language, you wouldn't have made a decent business. It was a mistake if the natives with an overly service oriented mindset and the human greed for money (also why govt encouraged foreign business in the city). Today, if you want to fight, go to the extremes and get all these people out. Then, you can die too because you have no one to sell your services to. Quality of life will take a significant hit. But obviously no one is ready for that. And the educated people are not the ones who are against languages. So the guy going in metro, malls is not going to have a problem tbh. For the one off cases here and there, the people of Bengaluru are giving themselves a bad name. And those who still feel hindi is being forced are educated fools. Nowhere is it being forced. They use it. Natives have the option of saying NO. Auto driver can say no. Shop keeper can say no. But they know that they're business will be shut and they will have to resort to begging, so they won't.

Why Hindi in Bangalore???? He is apologising because he realised his mistake which is Vandalism and rowdyism and he was put in his place. This video is a warning to those who don’t want to learn Hindi in Bangalore.

removing safety instructions is wrong, plain and simple.. And those who discriminate and abuse fellow citizens due to a simple language barrier. Its disgraceful and an insult to Bharat and fellow countrypeople. I am a Proud "Indian" Tamilian from North India, who takes pride in the diversity of our nation. Mera Bharat Mahaan.

@@ps6572 a few years ago Hindi was kicked out of Bangalore Metro when phase 2 was opened. So this video is about punishing vandalism.

this is what I tried to tell the Hindi protagonists for a very long time.
