I am a kannadiga and I completely agree on what’s happening in Bangalore nowadays. Everyone with chappri attire on activa or ktm thinks they’re rowdies. They don’t really care about repercussions. They just assault and rob people. My sincere advice is for all to keep ur dashcam ON and keep a pepper spray or baseball bat for your own protection. And do not open your car door when threatened. I'm from north karnataka and recently a traffic policeman verbally abused me for asking if I could take a right turn near dalmiya circle, coffee day. He was so loud and yelled at me using abusive words and shockingly people around were giggling!!! A rickshaw driver even jumped and started asking rhetorical questions! This made me very angry because they knew I'm from north karnataka as it's evident from registration number and I look a little bit like North Indian as I stayed in north and west India for a long time. Honestly speaking, this never happened to me in maharashtra state when I stayed there for 5 years! These incidents don't just happen randomly, they're preplanned after doing racial profiling. Pathetic state of affairs in bangalore, considering to leave after much abuse for 5 years almost now.

@@abhishekpatro9972 I left bangalore a month ago. I don't care if I get a new job or not, but I just couldn't bare that type of life. True, it's the people who make cities, not the other way around. I don't know what's wrong with bangalore or who messed it up, but it sure can't change. Values, ethics and morals can't be changed as they are innate qualities. This shapes up during our upbringing, they can't be changed. I just hope businesses move out of bangalore to other cities in India and let bangalore become the retirement capital once again. I’ve been robbed back in 2010 when I was a student in Bangalore. They stole my mobile and hit me on the face. It happened in kanmanika near kumbalagodu.. I was traumatised mentally and recovered days after the incident. I didn’t reported it because I was young and vulnerable. Many people there should really need to learn what’s humanity and India is one country and people are the same and everyone have right to work and live anywhere they wish in this country.

I was attacked by a thug similarly in Bangalore for no fault of mine. He blocked his vehicle in front of me and came to my car and started hitting me saying that I used abused words. I never used any abusive language at him. I was unwell on that very day, was alone and was coming back after a long day in office. Was not able to react much and had to suffer a lot of blows for no fault of mine. It was in murugeshpalya, near GVC IT park, right in heart of the city in full view of multiple people but no one intervened. After the incident, I realized I am not safe in the city since I can be attached any time made up my mind to leave the city when I had a chance. Similar thing happened with my parents who are senior citizens. Out of nowhere four guys blocked my father's car near Electronic City and accused him of hitting their tempo. They tried to intimidate my parents and forcefully enter the car. Luckily the doors were locked and windows completely up. My dad was aware of this scam and asked them to come to the police station for mediation. As my parents drove they followed and kept trying to block. Finally my parents found a policeman but the policeman refused to help saying that he was busy. Since my parents could not free themselves from these goons they finally had to pay the goons Rs2000 to get back home safely. Prior to this incident a few years ago a similar incident happened where an auto guy intentionally rammed into my father's car near Indiranagar. When we went to the police station the cops sided with the auto guy. The cops told my father that the auto guy is poor and therefore he should pay the auto guy. The passion with which the cop was sympathizing with the auto guy was nothing but an orchestrated play to extract money from my father and share the loot with the auto guy. Finally under police pressure my father had to pay the auto guy. The police is inefficient and sometimes even an accomplice in the crime. Goons are well aware of this fact and therefore the rising trend.

10 years back i had a call to take where to buy home, being from IT background and north indian i took the smart decision to buy at Delhi. Reason is inspite of all the hype around security I found Kannadigas, Marathis and Tamils running a mini version of CCP like China with vast underreporting in practice. See why you hear so much crime being committed at Delhi is because if any is committed it gets quickly in the news there is no under reporting, because of this reason people are highly proactive so if someone starts doing this kind of road rage the first fist would come from the nearest pan shop guy to these hooligans because we have seen too much and there is 0 tolerance making it an aggressive yet safe place (New Delhi region not NCR excluding Faridabad, Gurgaon, Noida, Rohini, Ghaziabad and north/northwest parts). I hope hyderabad and pune remain safe because rest are all lost cause.

So had a similar incident 2 days back while coming back from a resort in kanakpura. They were in Skoda Rapid and just tried to kill us while we didn’t came out of the car they tried to break the glass and climbed on the bonet. I had to accelerate as they stopped the car 2 times. It was my family and a friend family in the car with 2 infants. We said sorry as that was only the way I thought would be good to stay away from them or to avoid the situation. We said we have kids in the car don’t do this but they just said we will kill you so come out of the car now. We aware shocked to see such level of evil. They were locals and what shocked me was they were not more than 25 years old. Traumatized, shocked. The sad thing is we didn’t had a dash-cam so couldn’t record it. We called the police and they said come to the nearest station. I mean then what these patrolling vehicle are for if we only have to go to a nearest station.

Out of nowhere, these bastards came bad, created a mark on my car, claimed that I hit them, and abused me with all the slang, from mother to father, and finally demanded compensation.I'm so depressed that I'm considering quitting my job in Bangalore in a few months...This occurs more frequently when you have an vehicle number from another state...now I am traveling in public bus even after I have a car...I park my vehicle in office itself...The majority of the incidents occurred on Bennerghatta Road...They are not scratching automobiles, but they are scratching my body.

Guys don't be fools. These people are extortionists who thought they can make a quick buck. Every now and then low lives device newer tricks to extort money. It's not about your number plate. They do it to anyone that looks decent. The way of dealing with this is to record and submit to police that's it. They already know that these incidents are happening and will give them a good thrashing in the station. Don't tell me police can prevent these things, people go to any extent for money. It's not about your state. Go to police with videos so that they can be identified. Do not be afraid. Where will you run? This is our country and due to population it's hard to monitor everyone - you can't run away forever. This is happening in all cities and i read that only yesterday someone was arrested in Mysore for the same crime.

Until and unless a harsh punishment is set as precedent, this will continue to happen. Police needs to take this seriously. Dashcam is not a solution. It can only help after the incident has happened. We need to ensure that this doesn't even happen in the first place.

Around 2008, when I was as a Kid, I visited Bangalore for the first time in my life and there was this incident which I vividly remember till now. It happened in a signal somewhere in Bangalore. I was travelling in car with my family and was curiously looking outside the window. I noticed someone behind our car was being chased. It was one old man driving a WagonR who being chased by some college teen in a bike. Unfortunately, the signal turned red and the WagonR stopped in the signal next to our car. That college brat stopped in front of that old man’s wagonR and started abusing him and calling him outside for few minutes. The old man stayed inside without reacting. Then this teen finally decided to break the WagonR’s side mirror using his bike key, and left. Fast forward 15 years. I still come across these kinda posts regularly in Bangalore Reddit Forum. Makes me think it has always been this way.

This has happened to me twice! Incident 1: I was with four children and my wife. A guy on his bike came a dashed my stopped vehicle from behind. It was holi day and obviously had was full of color and started abusing and smashing my window, challenging me to get down. I knew that instance this is a case of extortion and he is just going to try to bully my to take money from me. So I told him come ahead we will talk. Children in my car had already started to cry looking at his behaviour. So i just drove off hoping to reach the closest police station. This goon kept chasing me and i kept moving closer to the police station until finally he blocked my at an intersection. He was soo voilent that the car system finally gave up and unlocked the door by itself. I told me wife to get in the driving seat and go to police station which was less than 50 m away by this time. It was time for me to confront him and he got a head butt from me and he went down on the road. He got a beating from me as he might have unestimated my physical built while i was sitting in the car. Fortunately he dint have any weapon. Cops came and they too figured he was a total scam. He got more beating from the cops. End of day no lives were lost and my kids think I am a hero. The reality is i have never hit any one and i was tested that day. I hope it never happens again! Incident 2: I was out with a friend to look out for some farm lands outside of city. When a gang of 5 bikes with maybe 13 kids tried to blocked our way for no reason. Couple of the boys came up to my car and he was like why are you waving at us. While i was actually having my hand out of the car and enjoying the drive. He started to abuse me and said you will have to settle this and went to grab the car keys. The car was still on so it the keys dint come off. I floored the pedal to the metal while this guy was trying to stop the car with this hands. STUPID guys were trying to hold 150 horsepowers with their hands 😆 The gang leader fell down and the remaining jr gangster went to help him recover from his fall. I saw them in rear view mirror they were trying to follow me but i guess i lost them on the empty roads. I had to drive really fast ! Scary shit happening out on indian roads! SOS

I'm originally from Chennai, but I came to Bengaluru for work and ended up staying at my aunt's place. Initially, I relied on the bus for my daily commute, but getting to the bus stop at both ends proved to be quite a hassle. So, I made the call to get myself a bicycle. Now, when I mentioned this to my aunt and uncle, they got really worried about potential thieves, especially during the nighttime. Back then, I thought their concerns were a bit exaggerated, but boy, do I understand where they were coming from now! Stay safe, everyone, and always trust your family's advice.

One of my acquaintances employed at the Yelhanka RTO office has revealed a deeply troubling situation. Allegedly, there is an web of corruption involving local law enforcement, with ill-gotten gains being split evenly between the police and criminals. Shockingly, it appears that some arrests and lockups are merely theatrics, as the perpetrators are released the very next day once the police have secured their share of the spoils. It's a grim state of affairs in Bangalore, and the city's livability is progressively deteriorating, reminiscent of the challenges faced by cities in Nigeria or Syria.

this is happening with everyone in bengaluru, be it non kannadiga or kannadiga. I was attached thrice, once I was on my way to office and at a signal a scooty guy rammed into my bike when i got angry he started threating me that he is local and I am from UP (my bike has a UP registration), after that I told him that we are all Indians and you should not speak like this to which he said " we are kannadigas, you cannot come here an threaten us like this". After a few days at the same stop late at night I met three guys thoroughly drunk. They saw my bike's registration and began harassing me. Another incident happened at the Shell petrol pump in Kormangala first block. I parked my bike and there was a guy infront of me with his friends, my bike's headlamp struck in his eyes and he got very furious, he started arguing with me and starting blocking me way, eventually his friends decided not to intervene while he was asking them to support him as " he is alone, lets thrash him, he cannot do this with us". But I guess his friends were more sensible than him. Police also takes their side, I met with a minor accident with a autorikshaw driver and eventually when police came he started telling me to pay the driver for his losses. Bengaluru has a sad state of racism as well against non kannadigas, obviously not all locals but many are biased and racists towards you. Thankfully I have friends who are much much sensible and good kannadigas who help me in these situations. I, however, left the city, now I am in Gurugram, among my own people and my own culture. I have decided not to return to Bangalore anytime soon.

I was in Bengaluru during my internship in Jan 2020. Me & my friend we had habit of walking after dinner. One day during the same, a drunk person on bike hit my friend from behind. He fell down with his bike. Luckily his speed was slow so nothing happened to my friend. When he got up he started apologising and my friend said "don't worry. Nothing happened" and he continued apologising. My friend tried to console him and told "Are aap pareshan mat hoiye". At that moment, he understood that we are not localites. Then, he started harassing us asking us money and hold the collar of my friend. I tried to intervene but he didn't listen. Some people were passing by. He knew then and they all started talking within themselves. Finally, one of them took our cell number and told that they'll call in morning to settle the matter. We agreed and we moved on. After few minutes, we again saw him shouting probably calling us back. We ran away and were scared so much. Now a days, seeing all this again, I am reminded that I will never return to Bengaluru. I don't claim about contributing to economy and all but safe environment is the least each city should ensure for everyone irrespective of who they are, from where they are, contribution they are doing etc.

This is quite common. I have faced similar instance twice in Bengaluru without any provocation. I have earlier worked in Mumbai and Delhi-NCR for almost a decade in total and never had a single incident. I really wonder how people always say that Delhi is very unsafe and Bangalore is safe but in reality it is actually the opposite. At least there's no systematic biasness in the system in Delhi, but here once they know that you are an outsider, everyone will support the local guy. The same mentality is reflected in the comments here as well, where local people are justifying the acts of these two guys by putting onus on the outsiders that they have provoked them by doing something. For me the first time, it was a rainy season and there was some water lying in a pothole on the road ahead which obviously no one knows in advance and suddenly a guy came from the adjoining road and some dirty water got splashed on him. I continued driving for a second and when I saw the rear view mirror, I realised my mistake and slowed down my car to wait for the guy so that I could say sorry. When he reached near my car, I rolled down my window and said sorry brother and the moment he realised that I'm an outsider his expressions got changed and he got really furious. He immediately stopped his bike in front of my car so that I couldn't go ahead and started violently hitting my window first with his hands and then with his helmet. He insisted that I come out and I can see in his eyes that if I got out then it would be the biggest mistake of my life, so I kept saying sorry to him and he kept hitting my window with his helmet to break the glass. Realising the gravity of the situation, I reversed my car a bit and left the place but to my horror, this guy chased me for almost 10-15 km in broad daylight on ORR and kept hitting my car with his helmet and his one leg while we were both driving. To my bad luck, you can't run away on ORR, so after every now then there was a pile of traffic and he kept trying to open my door/hit windows. I was shit scarred and didn't know what to do. I was frantically looking for a police station, police patrol car or a cop on the road but couldn't spot any. Then I called on 100 and he seeing me calling someone he just disappeared in the traffic but those 15km were the worst time of my life in entire 15 years of my driving. This time I realised that in Delhi -NCR which is very notorious for crime and also in Mumbai, you can always find a Police Patrol Car at every 1-2 km or major intersections which is not the situation here. The second incident was with an Auto guy, which I feel after other instances and others' experiences, always try to pickup fight with the outsider without any provocation. There's a significant rise in such cases in the last few months and this is not good for anyone whether one is an outsider or a local.

I've stayed here all my life, born and brought up here. Though I know a lot of people around the city, I still won't roam about too much. This city is FILLED with creeps. I won't recommend anyone coming here just for a job. You'll get molested, beaten, scammed, abused, etc. Especially if you're an outsider or a shy person. Dress a little fashionably or look different and you'll be a target. Even to move around city will be an ordeal if you don't have your own transport. If you have some influence and connections, you can worry less but if you're an average person be prepared to get depression after coming here. Try not to hang out around slum areas especially, stay away from slum people as well, stay away from bars, roadside tea shops and shady places where undesirables hang out. Watch the news to keep yourself informed. Your life is too important to be wasted for a job or for a pub lifestyle.

Huge socio-economic difference, lifestyle difference, envy that arises upon seeing how others spend their leisure time with luxury that are unattainable for some. Many experience this, but many don't find it necessary to let out their stress in agressive ways. But those without any emotional outlet will cause such agression upon anyone, just to calm down their nervous system. It's bound to happen as people are getting comfortable with having socially neglected individuals around them, and nobody seems to be bothered even when these individuals aren't reaching out for help. People blame them, and this provokes them as it's not as if they're unaware of their incompetence but are filled with shame, hatred and learned helplessness.

This has happened to me as well as someone born and brought up in this beautiful city. And what do these goons usually tell? Go back to your city - this is our city (someone who speaks Kannada fluently and has 3 generation from this city). This makes me question my love for my city, being treated as an outsider. And as per go back to your city, I pay taxes unlike them and I pay for everything unlike many others who get freebies, stop becoming intolerant and embrace the multi-culture of our city (as long as people respect the city). If people leave Bangalore and go back to their ancestral city, then there won’t be any big tech companies or big companies wanting to open their offices which will eventually cause all other businesses to get impacted, think twice before telling “ outsiders” to leave.

Language is just the shield used by bigots to gaslight migrants into believing that migrants are wrong and they are holier than thou civilians , when you know the language but still a migrant they will find another way to harass you and call you an outsider anyway , thats the reason people don't respect Kannada language and culture . High time IT companies and other MNCs considered moving out of Karnataka, North India may have few problems but will never discriminate fellow citizens on the basis of region they belong too.

Clearly it is visible no foot peg was scratched and I never hit him and there was no fall. Simply seeing my registration he is targeting me to extort money. I was really in a hurry to catch bus back to my hometown. Else I could've called cops or my native contacts. Ended up giving what ever I had as cash in my pocket to him I think 400 or something. Else if a flew from there he can easily follow and knew my route as well. So my advice is don't stop. Call cops or use pepper spray

Even I am kannadiga. I am sad to see this video . These rowdies should be in jail and they shouldn't get any bail.

Just like airbags, Court must mandate dash cams to all car manufacturers. Dash cam must be given right from the base model of the car. Dash cams will act like moving CCTVs. Just one announcement for help and people would send their footage to the authorities.

It no longer is peace of mind or being aspirational to buy a car. You can probably die, for no fault of yours, when some illiterate driver crashes into you or can't control their anger.
