The Philippines have a big need for buildings that can withstand both earthquakes and extreme weather, don't they? If you can add in energy efficiency (embodied and operational) then you should be busy for a while. A net zero building that won't fall down or blow away and isn't unaffordably expensive to buy is a useful asset, whether it's a home or a workplace, or both.

Do make sure when you use floor plans found online that the legal status of that drawing allows you to use it like that. Posting an image online is not an automatic authorisation for anyone to do whatever they want with that image.

Hello, I just found your channel. I just took a structural analysis course recently, and it’s got me interested in this side of the civil field. For my college program, I have to do 3 co ops. 2 of them have been with construction companies, and I’m hoping to get a design co op for the third one. My question is, how can I break into the structural design side of the field? I’m worried I don’t know enough for a company to take me on.

Brilliant video mate, keep it up! A quick question - would you say from your personal experience, is it better to get a Beng degree and start getting work experience or pursue Masters? Currently I am a Beng student, finished my second year and I do feel quite burned out and not sure if extra year is gonna be good for me mentally. From what I gathered from industry recruiters, they d rather get somebody with a year of experience rather than a masters student. Obviously every company is different and this is not always the case, but just wanted to get your opinion on it.

Thanks! Industry experience is very valued. If you can find a role at a fast placed small company the learnings you will have can sometimes far out weigh what you would learn during a masters. Formal education is still important but if you want a break this wouldn’t be a bad way to spend it :)

I had part-time jobs all throughout university. At times in 3rd and 4th year I was doing full time study, part-time work, and had an internship. They were very busy times indeed!

Please don't add music to your vids at the same time as your voice. It makes it much harder to concentrate on what you're saying. If there's a significant gap in the voice track, that's a place for *quiet* music - with no hard beats or high-pitch sounds, please! - just so that viewers know the audio hasn't dropped out. While you are speaking, music serves no useful function at all.
