The Canberra was not the worlds first jet powered bomber. The Arado Ar 234 Blitz (German: lightning) was the world's first operational jet-powered bomber, built by the German Arado company in the closing stages of World War II.

It wasn't even the second. The B-47 (December 1947), B-45 (February 1947), B-46 (April 1947), and B-48 (June 1947) all flew before the Canberra (May 1949).

Harrier was indeed the crowning achievement of British aeronautical excellence but TSR2 must not be seen as the pinnacle. Jaguar and Tornado, despite being multilateral projects were wonderful.

Germany had air superiority early on and much of early stages. 2) USA entered and was putting germans on their heals with high loss of American Air Crews doing daylight bombing missions. Eventually US had air superiority in last days over England and Germany. USA ruled the skies. 3) The entire population of England lived in bunkers and fear from air raids, not much ruling there. If that is ruling OK. I will agree the Brits fought bravely and did hold the German air force back at high enough loss to hurt them... BUT Rule? No barely survived with huge Brit losses to fight long enough to wear Gernany down. It was pretty desperate. In the end yes England and the World did not fall to Germany and Japan... mostly due to USA. God Bless America. You are Welcome.
