I had one in 1991. The nausea and vomiting were extreme, to the point my throat bled. At the time of the bleeding and D&C I was 16 weeks (I had turned down an earlier ultrasound because they were still relatively new). I asked for a saddle block instead of general anesthesia for the D&C because I wanted to be awake and see the contents, for psychological closure, and they agreed. MY HCG was a million and a half, which was the highest lab value the lab had ever seen. The whole thing was a nightmare, particularly because there was no internet at the time and no one had heard of it around me. There was no one to talk to for reassurance, except the Dr. at the University Hospital who was not very sympathetic (terrible bedside manner). I was told to not get pregnant for a year, and I did have weekly blood tests until my value was >1 (that took many months). No one said anything about chemotherapy at the time, although a CT and MRI showed a small "spot" on my lung. They gave me the option of going in to biopsy it, remove it, or "wait and see". I chose to wait and see. I ended up having two healthy pregnancies after that, but I did have hyperthyroidism in my 3rd pregnancy. I had 11 ultrasounds with my second child and was considered "high risk". My heart goes out to any woman who experiences this. It was very traumatic. 30 years later, I still get emotional telling people about it. Doctors -- be sure you help your patient emotionally, and recommend grief counseling. As interesting as these things are, it is still a miscarriage.

I had this at the age of 20. My very first pregnancy. I learned i was pregnant and the very next day I was bleeding and I went to the hospital. I had a bad feeling in my heart the whole time that it wasn't ok. I did and ultrasound and they didn't see anything. I was 8 weeks along. I felt this urge to go to the bathroom. When I did a huge blood clot came out. It didn't look like grapes, it looks like a giant bight red fleshy blood clot. I immediately started freaking out and I opened the door and told an EMT "I think I just lost my baby" and she got a nurse for me. The nurse scooped up the mass from my undies as I tried, she was so nice. They took it away for testing and I remember thinking "they are taking my baby away".. I waited a week to find out for sure and it was the most traumatic thing I ever been threw. I fell to the floor when I found out I miscarried. Then maybe a week later I was notified that I had gtd, but they said it spread and I was going to need a full hysterectomy at the age of 20. I was so devastated. I had to go to the cancer center. They told me to pack a bag cuz I may be rolled into surgery. Once I got thier they said they had a mistake and it didn't spread. I still had to get blood draws weekly for a bit and then couldn't get pregnant again for 6 months. Exactly 6 months later I got pregnant with my first child and then 9 months later I got pregnant with my second 🥰 Just wanted to tell my story most people don't even know I went threw it at all.

Can you have a Molar pregnancy with no positive HCG? I was just diagnosed with GTD, and going in for a D&C to rule out Molar Pregnancy. I gave birth 01/18/2019 and haven't been sexually active since. How could I have a Molar pregnancy?

Hi Paul.. am 31 and 5 weeks pregnant, twice ultra sound was done both AV and TV since last week and nothing was seen not even sac. My hcg level is raising but not doubling as needed, my progesterone is 50 and I have hypothyroidism (t4 is 5). Can this be the case of molar pregnancy? And too early to say? And also my endometrial thickness is 14.4. Can you plz explain it to me why doc can't see anything in my womb
@MrMh9965 жыл бұрын
I know this is very late, but can you please tell what was the outcome?
@inchyokk4 жыл бұрын
just a student here based on case i can see a few reasons for the things you are experiencing. hope all went well in the end the progesterone being 50 means you ovulated and have a pregnancy ongoing. hcg not doubling as need is usually in keeping with an ectopic pregnancy especially as u said there was no sac. they would have to check the tubes or elsewhere for the sac. if you didnt experience any symptoms it may have meant that that the tubal pregnancy had been miscarried (absorbed) on its own. the thickened endometrium occurs when there is a pregnancy occuring as the womb prepares to receive the fertilised eggs. curious as to what happened and hope you are well
