Sooooo grateful for one last summer house video of the season. I absolutely love how organized everything is - a place for everything and everything in its place. When I think about the time and physical labour that it does and will take over the years to keep the place up, I would be daunted, so I admire your gumption in tackling whatever needs to be tackled. It must be such a lovely respite from the city and you must sleep well after all of the physical work and the fresh air. Looking forward to your updates from Stockholm this winter as we wait in anticipation for the summer house to open next year.

There are lots of summer houses that are insulated for winter and have plumbing, electricity and all amenities, just like the main family home. But that is a different category and it is not always a question of money. Some people really enjoy the simple life, many try to get a cottage near a lake. The ones closer to the ocean or on an island are extremely costly. And of course it is also a question of how far you want to go by train or car to get to the house. Mine is one hour away and by the beach. I inherited it from my parents, which is very common. In the most stteactive areas the houses are nearly always passed down through families so it can be hard to find something to buy.

We used tins at our cottage for dried food and candles. The mice can’t get into them although our building was newer and we didn’t have a mouse problem. If anyone is stranded when ice fishing or snowmobiling they can have clean food if necessary. ( this is in northern Ontario where people do winter activities) We put ashes down the outhouse. Wow Benita! I remember having a summer house out in the country/mountain in Madrid. We did have to take care of quite a few things but not so many. Also, we used to go in winter too so it wasn't empty for a very long time. We had running water and electricity but it was colder. There wasn't any heating though. I loved the video. I do like the ones in Stockholm too. It's great that you, your son and Victoria have got the same organised habits. Great job. Take care xxx
