Goodness Mr. Unique. I didn’t want this episode to end! I fell in love with Uzbekistan about 8 years ago when I read an Arabic historical fiction book about it. Ever since I’ve been dreaming of visiting it and perhaps living in it. Migrant and refugee children like us, who despite being grateful for the opportunities the host countries provided us with, feel homeless. Sometimes. As if we don’t fit within the identity boundaries that had been drawn for us. I’m glad Subhi had the opportunity to visite her home country. I wonder whether, one day, I will be as lucky as her; to visit my country, my grannies, the grave of my older sister, the grave of my ancestors. For this day to come, an entire regime should fall. Still, I hope I won’t be too old when that day comes. Thank you Nadir. Sincerely.

Amazing to see Subhi being able to feel like that her life is very much connected and rooted in the Uzbek culture. It was also interested to see her explain how Nadir’s perspective had opened her eyes towards things she didn’t see before. - I feel hostile somehow towards my parents’ culture while being a child of diaspora myself. I hope to feel the same way as you two have while developing and exploring. - On another note, thank you Nadir and Subhi for sharing something so personal. Nadir you did a beautiful job in portraying the Uzbek culture and the doppi journey.

I was so excited to learn of the Doppi Project yesterday... especially so because I am currently working together with members of the South-west Sydney Uyghur community to reveal some glimpses into their culture in our local museum/gallery. I was delighted to see that yours was exactly my experience; in every family home I visited were banquet-sized dining tables laden with delicious traditional Uyghur food! I have rarely experienced such overwhelming hospitality and generosity. I am so glad I have been able to meet this group of brave and determined people who are incredibly focused on preserving and sharing their endangered culture. (some taking significant risks to do so) I feel privileged to be in a position to help bring the little known Uyghur culture to the Australian public... I loved this story...it is beautifully shot and full of heart...a truly worthwhile and important project!🙌🏻

What an amazing project, and such a gift that you have created these videos to share it with the world. I remember WAAAAY back in the 1980's doing a project for a college course and researching traditional clothing - I was already bemoaning the fact that jeans and t-shirts were taking over worldwide. I have always loved the symbolic meaning of traditional cloth. A million thanks for this and to everyone in the video who encouraged Subhi to continue to wear her Uzbeki clothing.

@kasyakyoubfgamindikisborat Why not Uzbeks? Both Uzbeks and Uyghurs can be dated back to Chagatai Khanate, the same ancester, then separated to East Chagatai (Uyghurs) and West Chagatai (Uzbeks). The languages of Uyghur's and Uzbek's sounds more like dialects with each other and the culture and the clothes are so similar. It would be one country, if not occupied by the Russians and Chinese separately.
