I am here because it is the power of Britten s music not his sexuality or almost comically posh accent. It's the music . It has great great emotional power. Best wishes from Liverpool

I feel the same way about Liberace. All they want to talk about is his sexuality and showbiz razmataz nonsense. All I'm interested in is his playing and I wish someone would do a documentary about his music only. Best wishes from Birkenhead !!

@@SimonMackUK77 I never mentioned the word love in my post. But even if I had done why should you be sceptical ??

@@scabbycatcat4202 Britten and Liberace are an unlikely pairing but both, in their very different ways, were geniuses.

Just a slight criticism. There are no credits for the sections which contain recorded interpretions of works. I should like to have known for example, which conductor/orchestra/recording this documentary opened with when playing Sunday Morning from the Four Sea Interludes. Vital information which there ought to be the forethought to make available. If anyone in this forum knows for sure which recording this is.. please reply to me.. would be much appreciated thanks!

Opera is an art that is unlistenable, self-destructive, vacuous, pretentious. Thankfully it is about to disappear permanently.

How wrong you are mate! We have opera since the XVIII century, and will continue to have, either you like it or not. Not only is not dead but is pretty alive, is one of the most important musical genres of contemporary music!
