Consistently losing money might just mean you broke even over the long term but commissions and slippage are costing you so you end up with a net loss. In this case, inverting all your trade still means the same result. There really isn't an easy way to gain an edge, inverse your position or not. There is a way to not blow up your account as quickly and allow you to trade for a long time however.

In the trading brain trust at work we have a guy like this. When Robinhood came out with lists we were talking about how they should make them shareable and generally add social features. Then the conversation immediately shifted to whether we could track what this one guy was doing and make sure to do the opposite, or even build a fund that tracks the inverse of whatever he does.

I started trading young, not understanding complicated options so I just didn’t use said options. I literally just bought stock and sold stock (not daily). I read newspapers, tried predicting price movements based on world events and other factors. My most profitable trade ever was buying a load of Lufthansa and American Airlines in mid march 2020 (when covid hit) and selling in march 2021. Check the graph to see how profitable the trade was. What I’m trying to say is that day trading may be more profitable if done correctly and consistently but long buys and other slower manouvers can be just as profitable and simpler to pull off. Be smart with your money and only listen to smart advice.

You can outsmart other traders, stack the deck in options pricing, and get ahead of everyone else with insider information, but nobody can make time run faster than it does for everyone else. The devil is also in the details of how you choose your straddle points, the risk each brings and if you're generating alpha. Also, imagine this strategy for Netflix recent earnings report which tanked the stock. I think more emphasis needed to be put into long term result of shorting IV. Can you also do a video about taxes that compares long term vs short term cap gains. Also, the impacts of wash sales. I think there was a funny story about a dude day trading for a several hundred thousand gain over the year but, his discontinued losses made a tax bill greater than his earnings.

Haha, dude i tried a similar idea. I got the market chameleon free trial and they have earnings backtests on options strategies over 12 earnings calls. So I just sorted each strategy by highest sharpes ratio and was running really good. No risk mgmt. Just kept going all in. Then January came. Backtests basically said selling at the money put spreads on GS or JPM 2 weeks before earnings had an avg gain of 30% with it giving you an 8% return at the minimum. I also figured rising interest rates would be good for JPM. I think you can assume what happened. All in, -$60k😂. Maybe if I kept my sizings smaller and the same over a while, the backtests are a good strategy? Fuck it. Lambo or food stamps

as I would under stand yes it would be profitable since your basically selling insurance contracts that say there will be no radical swing in stock price associated with earnings report beyond what the market has already predicted. this is like to be true in most cases because the market is pretty good at pricing things, and if they didnt straddles would consistently make money. the down side is is that it make be a small profit relative to the risk being taken - hence why the opportunity exist at all. one surprise earnings report later and youve found youve sold homeowners insurance to a house on fire

As someone that is a quant at a large asset manager, i love these vids. Heres a bit of advice that holds true in 98% of all cases of options trading, *everything* is priced in. On avg quants make most of their money on options trades in low volume markets (just one example of the trades we normally do) because the markets are not efficient enough yet to price in the models we build. But that doesnt always hold, which is why our whole job involves finding new sources of alpha.

At the very least, I now grasp the concept of leverage. Creating wealth and financial freedom isn't as tough as many people believe. Building wealth and remaining financially stable indefinitely is a lot easier with the appropriate information. Participating in financial programs and products is the only true approach to make a high income and remain affluent indefinitely.

Uff, selling stradles means you have to have margin to: 1. Sell a cash covered put AND 2. Sell a naked call Which can net you 100k on a single pair for a say 70$ strike on 5x leverage on your margin. Buying them is just long put and call at face value. Meaning - no get rich quick scheme will short stradles. Period

Building wealth involves developing good habits like regularly putting money away in intervals for solid investments. Instead of trying to predict and prognosticate the stability of the market and precisely when the change is going to happen, a better strategy is simply having a portfolio that’s well prepared for any eventually, that’s how some folks' been averaging 150K every 7week these past 4months according to Bloomberg.

Hmm, selling vol is actually kind of appealing to me. The only problem is, the market is too efficient to do it actively. As we already know, the only way to make money in the efficient markets is passive investing. So I wonder if there is some passive etf, that would sell vol. Like, for example, taking the short side of the vix. Something like vix, but in reverse... Hmm...

Scams (and stupid courses are scams) are often designed to be obvious for most people. You don‘t want to deal with these people as a scamer though since they are cautious which is bad for you. What you want is to create a self-filtering scam where only the oblivious and risky types ever engage with it, this way you are very likely to make a good amount of money from everyone that will occupy your time.
