This is great, what Id like to add is maybe a random wiggle shake, like a small two frames position error or solething to every separate layer or "cell" as the position of each cell sometimes moves or shakes a bit, you can see it in old disney movies. Something that occurred to me while watching the tut!

As a beginner motion graphics designer, who never drew, what is your opinion, does it worth to start learning how to draw and easily start to learn how to do frame by frame animations? Or it's time consuming and can easily skip this part? I'm more into the 2d motion graphics, and I would like to do frame by frame, but i really suck at drwaing, and I'm scared to loose time, so I'm very interested what do you think

instead of using the paid plugin you can also use a bunch of AE glow instances and connect them via expressions. Set the radius of instance 2 to be 2 times the radius of isntance 1 and so on. Or for even more flexibility, considering the blooming and brightening of the image, use a simple blur on a second adjustment layer and either lower the opacity or set the blend mode to Screen, Add or even Lighten and lower the opacity. For the chromatic aberration of the plugin you can use a combination of blurs, transforms and channel mixers aswell.

I know this is old. I apologize for commenting on an old video. However, wouldn't this really be so much easier if you just drew it, framed it, lit it and filmed it? You could use a film to Computer device that allows you to convert the film into digital and you could just adjust a few things. I am sorry but it just feels like way too much clicking. You could have been done by now. Though, It would probably be better even still if you used a Quantel Paint Box.

Looks great, but I have a couple nitpicks: 1. The skull should be covered in shadow before it rises from the fridge. The shadows should dynamically change on the skull. 2. I think some line boil/jitter on the skull might help sell the retro look better. Some more jitter and subtle, gradual color shifting (from damaged film) on the entire frame would also amp up the retro feel.

00:00 🎨 Embrace limitations to achieve a warm vintage feel in animations, focusing on restricted palettes and brush textures. 01:22 🚪 Frame-by-frame animation in Calipeg app for iPad is used for convincing door opening, emphasizing anticipation and easing into the final position. 02:43 🌌 Authentic vintage feel achieved by using real space images from NASA, avoiding artificial renders. 03:37 🔲 Adding subtle drop shadows to animated elements replicates the traditional animation process done on transparent celluloid sheets. 04:30 🔄 Looping texture with darkened curves and screen blending creates film-like damage effects for a vintage vibe. 06:14 🌟 Combining gaussian blur and sharpen effects, along with Deep Glow plugin, adds soft diffused blooming look, reminiscent of old screens. 08:08 🎨 Chromatic aberration and subtle adjustments in curves enhance vintage aesthetics without overwhelming the image. 09:31 🔄 Adding a subtle shake effect using the wiggle expression mimics a loose film reel or VCR playhead, further removing digital sheen. 10:23 🎞 Adding film grain with noise HLS Auto effect provides a final touch to simulate vintage film texture. 11:50 🎶 Suitable audio enhances the vintage mood, completing the retro animation experience.
