I’m a big fan of the gear-centered channels, but it’s also kind of refreshing to see reviews from an actual working musician. Nothing quite like getting to the heart of the matter when you have limited time and space and you actually have to use this stuff to earn a living.

Lately I use the pyramid with digitone. It makes the workflow really quick. If you set up a template so you can easily switch between the four tracks on the digitone, it becomes really intuitive and more like a gigantic glorified looper.

that scale is called Lydian flat seven scale. In Slovak folklore music also called "podhalanska" scale.

By acoustic you mean Lydian Dominant? 1 2 3 #4 5 6 b7. It's a mode of melodic minor and you'd think it has melodic minor?

Good stuff. If you haven’t tried it yet, you can power the Pyramid from the Poly 2 host port and sequence your modular from the USB channel, freeing up the physical midi ports for other gear.
@pawnotdaw45594 жыл бұрын
Hello. That's exactly how I use the Pyramid. Also, by using the assignable CVs on the Poly 2, I can have a sort of preset set up with the Pyramid saving CCs, lfos, and automation. This turns it into the Poly Preset module. Anyhoo love your vids and happy new year

i love that generative song thingie! But I must be a little dumb. I don't get how you get the Pyramid to play random chords and notes. Anyone patient enough to enlighten me? Thanks :)
@davidaltemir15643 жыл бұрын
He provides some explanation at 12:15. It appears that he is selecting some chords that are all part of the same scale and assigning them to the Squarp Pyramid. What he didn't say and I suspect is the case is that he used the Euclidean sequencer on the Pyramid and cycled between different patterns to create a sequence that is unpredictable ... I'm just guessing. Loopop has a good overview of the Pyramid.
@mistervalentin83964 жыл бұрын
You also got some Polyend gear earlier this year, I think, including the Polyend Seq .. do you have a preference between the two - the Pyramid and Seq? In terms of features, the Pyramid is probably the easy winner, but what about ease of use? Thanks, great video as always.

I didn't understand the jazzy song setup. How did you make it play through those chords randomly? Or did you setup a chord progression and have the melody randomized?

I've been using an Akai MPC60ii, 2000xl and 3x Kenton dual-midi-cv converters over the last 30yrs, - only been working in the laptop for the last 4yrs. Hardware sequencing is much easier IMO. DAWs, and computers, can spit out way too much irrelevant information, - although Logic is pretty reliable...

Hey man, I love the idea of this device but only have one synth (Nord stage 3) and drum machine (Roland tr8s). As this device records midi data only, surely this would limit me to only one custom patch on my Nord and Tr8s? Because if I change sounds etc on my synth this would effect the other recorded midi data right? I want one but feel like it's too early if it can only sequence one patch at a time.
