lol unusual set of points in the siding, both rails can slide in at the same time (thus derail) (7:27) if this is routed to the Midland bound (diagonal), (horizontal) is to platform 6 used for stadium services & Armidale
@AbsintheBabe2 жыл бұрын
I believe it would indicate a move to the Fremantle down line, to move through platform 6 or 7 for services from the Joondalup line to the stadium, or other moves like it.

@@AbsintheBabe Horizontal signal is for routing onto platform SIX only as this is a east bound platform (7 is west bound) - (yes stadium services, there is video of this)

I notice that the points at the country end can be moved independently and are set (4:15) so that so that the switch is neither to the right nor to the left. If the train were to continue it would be derailed rather than continue onto either track. This can be seen at the city end too (4:20), before the switch is set (4:25) for the up track back to Perth. But does anyone know why the switch at the country end wasn't set that way as the train arrived (4:10)? I guess as the train has just come off the down track and the interlocking is preventing any other train from being on the track an overrun back onto the down track would be preferable to derailing.

Yes, you are correct in all your statements. As you say, when the train is entering the country end, the points are set so that if the train overruns the signal, it won't derail. I asked the driver and he said that the interlocking is arranged in such a way that there will never be a train at either platform when that shunt is being performed, specifically because, as you said, a small overrun is preferable to a derailment and if there are no other trains near the station, there is no chance of collision if an overrun does happen.

Why can't you stop in Roe Street Tunnel where 2/3/6 stopping signs are and change ends? isn't it limit of shunt there?

may i ask what's the point of doing the shunt when your just going back anyways?

I can't answer the question until I know what you mean by going back. Going back to where?

I think they mean, what Is the point of driving the train to Leederville, waiting , then driving it back to Claisebrook? Perth station is right next to Claisebrook.. and it looked like their was plenty of parking!

@@TheMidlifeIntrovert you can't "turn right" from Perth Underground towards Claisebrook
@paulwilliams732 жыл бұрын
The train came up from the south (Mandurah) from there basically trains can ONLY go west(Fremantle) at (0:10) crossover or as normal to the north(Joondalup) - Leederville siding enable out of service trains (get out of the way of the regular service) switch ends and get back to the crossover (7:30) - it is imposable for a Mandurah service to continue to Midland or Armidale past Claisebrook without going back... (not sure why they just send the train up to Nowergup)

What does the U mean with green light
@BennettBrookRailway4 жыл бұрын
The U means 'up main', that is, the main line heqading towards Perth, for all intents and purposes. If the train were to be signalled onto the right hand track, the display would say D, for Down main line. Edited for spelling.

Why's it so slow
@BennettBrookRailway4 жыл бұрын
I assume you're referring to the speed into and out of Leederville siding. It's because the siding has a 10km/h speed limit.
