A Race Back In Time - The Yamaha Pro-Am revival (episode two)

Sunday 30 August 2015 saw the air filled with the sweet smell of two-stroke fumes as the legendary Yamaha Pro-Am series made a revival at the British Grand Prix.
In the second of our two part documentary (see episode one here • A Race Against Time - ... ) we meet some of the riders and watch the mad dash to get 24 bikes on the grid.

I was at a race meeting at RAF Ouston, Albemarle barracks in 1982. Niall Mackenzie won the 500cc production class races, I won the 250cc class races. That is when our careers went in different directions. Never raced against Charlie Corner but did against his brother. Nice to see Andy Muggleton still at it, he was a great sign writer and racer, great days back in 1980-83.

I take it the Motul 5100 (at 0:45) is being used for lubing something and not going in the engine..

I used the stuff in my Kawi Trippple and it gummed up the rings so bad that it took me a weekend of soaking and delicate prying to free things up. Maybe it makes a better chain or cable lube.

I ALWAYS ADMIRED THE RD'S, 2,350,500. ANYWAY I WAS A KAWASAKI FAN FOR OVER 30 YEARS, NEVER EVER THOUGHT, I WOULD OWN ANYTHING BUT A KAWASAKI. WAS OFFERED A CBR600RR, UNSEEN, AND FOR SOME REASON, HONDA?, NAH YOUR OKAY!!! SAW THE CBR600RR, WOW, I WANTED IT!!. 'SORRY JUST BEEN SOLD', WAS GUTTED, LOOKED A REALLY GOOD RIDERS BIKE!!! YIPPEE!!! WORKED OUT??, GOT A 2005 GSF 650 BANDIT, NOT A BANDIT S, BETTER THAN A BANDIT S. RACING RD'S, SOMEONE SHOULD ORGANISE A 650 STANDARD BANDIT RACE.!! AND LET PEOPLE BE IN AWE, OF THE SPECTICAL THAT IS 650 BANDIT ACCELERATION.!!!!!!

They imported them from Germany. They don't modify them in Germany as its against the law..
