Thanks for sharing the family stories. I am a "fan" of LTG Moore. I did not know Mrs Moore had a hand in the improvement of family casualty notification until now. Not a supporter of Army post name changes (specially Fort Bragg) _but I fully support this one (Fort Benning to Fort Moore)._ 👈🇺🇸

I concur. Julie is an ICON. The motto of the Army Installation Management Command (IMCOM) is ARMY HOME - ARMY STRONG. Julie Moore is the Rosa Parks of modern life in the U.S. military. R-E-S-P-E-C-T.

It’s such a tragedy to change the name from that of a man who fought a war to OWN human beings (yes fought to keep people as property) to a family that actually deserves to be honor for their service to the country. I just don’t know what they were thinking.

Whether it is Fort Benning or now Fort Moore, I think the biggest legacy is the changes brought about by Julia Moore and others to the way casualty notification is made to the next of kin. Getting a system in place to notify and then help those left behind through the initial stages/ processes.

We signed out of the army at the admin building at Benning in '70...6 of us lined up at a table with a warrant officer handing out paperwork...Guy at the head of the line was 1st Air Cav..got his documents..turned to leave and said to us..."Holy shit...we're still breathin""....Place really looked good in a a rear view mirror that day..

Not taking away from the Moores' importance, renaming an American base, tearing down statues and portraits in the name of political correctness, cheapens the words of the Constitution,it cheapens the American heritage we leave to our children and grandchildren whom we expect to maintain it in every way. The root of preserving our democracy has been gravely wounded and it has come from within.I fear for Americas future, which has been cast aside just to advance un American principles.

Their legacy will last forever, the name on the fort will last just until another group of woke bureaucrats arrive and adjudge that the Moore Family doesn't measure up to their "new vision." I respect your family and their efforts on behalf of our great country.

I will absolutely refer to this installation as Fort Moore. In stories of my past, I will refer to it as Ole Fort Benning. When you let sink in General Benning's fervent advocation of slavery and learn why these installations were named after confederate generals to begin with... Yeah, it never should've been named Fort Benning in the first place.

BS! If only Captain Moore had gotten some reconnaissance before, he sent us into a completely unprepared and unknown AO! He had no idea he was dropping us into a division sized element of NVA and VC fighters! The Rangers were available the LRRP were available to get an assessment of what was in store! But Captain Moore would have none of it. He was in such a goddamn hurry to get some contact! I was on the third Huey that was in the formation. While we were pulling off the sea rations, and other supplies and equipment from the S&S units all the sudden the “zings and pings” started and it was mass confusion! No one knew where they were coming from, and there were so many people giving orders. It was a cluster you know what. I’m so sick of even talking about it, but when I see Captain Moore made out to be some kind of military, genius I get sick! There were so many of us that died in those first few hours!
