guys, if you ever have the chance to see him live in concert, go! i was lucky enough to have him in my small city (20k ppl) in Kufstein, Austria at a music school (but as a full blown concert with Montague and Hargreaves) with no security at sight, first "row" - literally 50 cm away from his bass drum. I WILL NEVER EVER SEE SOMETHING SO AMAZING. went with a girl who's never really been interested in drums before and she was in awe of how complex it is and just how incredible the sound of drums can be.

Amazing all the way...either the video projection has been syncronized beforehand to every hit, side snare and toms for the flame effect, or the video flame effect is triggered by either mics or triggers to be in perfect time with every hit...amazing piece of work....

Don’t get overly excited there. I love Benny, and I love the track... but I heard this kind of stuff plenty of times. If you’re seeking a prog-jazz trailblazer, although you can’t compare two musicians of this level, Mark Guiliana will blow your mind. I love Benny... like, who doesn’t? He’s one hella drummer and a great great teacher and communicator. But I am yet to have witnessed him being featured by, or playing with other musicians. Certainly his name is all over German recording credits. But. Still. It bothers me. Call me a purist but playing to a track simply isn’t the same. I like his creative tone here tho, but for awhile, he became too much of a mechanical “DVD drummer” for me - although brilliant and all. We all love Benny but he isn’t Arri Hoenig or Guiliana; people who you gonna see live at the forefront of music innovation. Maybe it’s just my perception, maybe he even more innovative because he explores what a performance might be like in the future? Damn. Anyway I wish I could see that live!
