Hey Benny, a couple tips on wiring: First, you shouldn't twist wires that are going into a crimp connector. When the little wings on the crimp fold over into the wire, they cut strands if the wire is twisted. The strands should lay straight and parallel, so the crimp wings slide between and squeeze them, forming a gas-tight connection that excludes oxygen and moisture. Also, you definitely shouldn't solder-tin a wire before crimping it. Over time, solder will do what's called plastic deformation; it slowly changes shape under pressure from the crimp, so the crimp can become loose. In a signal wire, this can cause intermittent signal, and in a current-carrying wire, it can cause a high-resistance connection that can lead to heat and fire. Finally, a properly crimped connector does not need solder added after crimping. In fact, soldering can reduce reliability because any solder that wicks up the wire, inside the insulation, will tend to stiffen the wire. Under flex or vibration, this can cause the solder to crack, breaking the wire right behind the crimp. Anyway, awesome project -- I'm looking forward to seeing some quick passes!

Haltech is going to be on the leading edge of the electronic/electrical aspect of the "car culture". More and more companies are fielding "wiring kits" with pin out sheets and revised wiring diagrams than ever before. The days when you had to deal with some arrogant snot more interested in "protecting his domain" than opening the sport just a little bit are coming to an end. Hurrah! Benny, your calm presentations don't hurt a bit! Had to put the kibosh on Lemon Squashes, but popcorn is still on the table- for you, I'll always make more!

Super interesting to watch! I just today finished off wiring in a Link G4+ Altezza PNP ecu with wiring adapted to suit to my supercharged IS200 today and dropped it off to the tuners! I went with link cause it has the ability to control the OEM throttle body motor system and the plug headers match so it’s a direct plugin, just needs repinning. Once all this corona isolation stuff is over I’d love to meet up with you at a sparesbox skid pan or something

@@nickhodgman offbrand splices arent usually normalized, so they get brittle after just crimping. You can heat them to anneal them and they will work much better - crimp nicer, stay just as tight and not break after fatigue.

@1one3_Racing
@1one3_Racing 4 жыл бұрын
We have LOTS of them in Australia. It's a charity rally. Same as Gambler 500 in the States. You have to buy a 2 wheel drive worth less than $1000, it needs to be registered (which is tough in Australia) and then we drive them 4000km on terrible roads across the centre of Australia and at the end sell them. We are raising $6000 for Cancer research and annually the rally raises over $2m. It's a bunch of fun and for a good cause but it's stressful as hell! We're so far behind on fundraising and the car (2000 Jaguar S-type) is total garbage. My grandad died of lymphoma 2 years ago and it was just horrible, so I'm doing my bit.
