Very helpful video! Definitely a skill I’d like to pick up as I’ve always just purchased new drills after the old ones weren’t cutting well.

This is a great learning tool for understanding sharpening. I like that it's brief! This video filled in a few blanks that I had in my understanding. Thank you.

Absolutely master class once again. Time for me to dig some drill out of the scrap and give it a go I think. Thank you.

The techncal name for the pointy center bit is called the Web I seem to recall my instructor saying. Interesting to see a slightly different technique pushing downwards and in towards the abrasive rather than roll and rotate in an upward motion. I'll give that a try next time Ben.

The activity of re-sharpening the drill bits always makes me proud and satisfied. Great video! I often see shamefully damaged sets of drill bits that literally scream revenge, it would be important to learn how to get them ready for all hobbyists. In an emergency, a good tip can also be sharpened with a flexible grinding wheel, on the field and without too much expense.

Great video! I think you mentioned it in the video but what type of drill bits do you use most often? Cobalt, titanium, etc.

Thanks, well this particular drill was a HSS (high speed steel) one but this will work well with all of them apart from a carbide still bit. 👍

Blimey, you made that look so easy! I don't think you can under estimate how much practice that takes. .... Just of to the workshop, see you in a couple of years! hehehe

Why u got four pillar drills 😕
@BenOrford4 жыл бұрын
Haha well I actually have another 8 the other end of the workshop and 3 more next door. Basically for production I don’t want to have to keep swapping drill bits so I can drill all the different holes I need to make knives. Plus I keep these separate for metal and others for wood and Kydex. Hope that explains my addiction 👍
