Excellent work. Provides much practical information. Promotes thinking of further improvements that could be made. Rerouting the disc brake cable & a detachable, expandable axle so wheels could be removed in backpack mode & axle width varied depending on condition of trail. Maybe an option to vary wheel angle. Whatever, I hope the manufacturers take onboard the information you have put forward. Thank you.

Thank you. At first I thought you were anti-trailer and was annoyed but your review was completely fair and balanced. I was trying to find a monowalker because it seemed like it would be better in narrower trails. That is probably true but the instability seems to outweigh this advantage by a lot. I am no longer looking for a monowalker. You should look at the trekers friend from Australia. I think it is what I am going to get.

Walk for a few years with a trailer....tried mono but did not like it. Prefer two wheels. After pulling thousands of KS I stopped a few years ago and only push it. So much easier. Even went over the tops of the Pyrenees with it but as they say: don't try this at home! FB kayak cobber I used it for over 20000+ KS now or even more. Works good enough on and off-road.

I have the Dixon Rollerpack. Small version at just 7 pounds. Always wanted a two wheeled version for the weight distribution aspect. But two wheels don’t work on foot paths. Mine does take about 90 seconds to convert to backpack, and 30 seconds quicker if you leave the wheel on. Overall, I’m happy with my purchase. Two wheels, bigger and heavier versions you stop the gains pretty quickly. Terrific video btw 👍

4-wheel trailers - like the Hawk Crawler - keeps all the weight on the wheels. All you do is pull or push the game cart along. For snow conditions, a Smitty sled works great for hauling things around.

Hello... I really enjoyed your very honest and well thought out review.... I'm from Maine in Northeast USA.... We have thousands of miles of trails that will be very trailer friendly..... I'm saving my money now so I can buy one... Why I want to have one of these instead of a bicycle it because I'm a bicycle you get saddle sores and I think this is just more convenient most of my walking will be on the road or on well-maintained trails so I wouldn't be in the situation that you that you was in that you talked about... if you were to ever decide you wanted to go overseas and you come to the United States you could go to northern Maine and there are just like I say thousands of miles of trails you can get maps for these trails and I think you would really enjoy spending six months over here hiking with your trailer. My name is clay and again I really enjoyed your video I hope you do more videos with more adventures because very few or I should say there really aren't any videos of people with these trailers nobody has he's trailers over here and I think it would be a really good thing for you to publicize these with your adventures...

Very informative. I wish double wheel trailers were made narrower so that it would work better on single track trails. It would be great if a skid plate protected the break mechanism and worked better for tree crossing. Thanks for your efforts
@mukiker4 жыл бұрын
Re narrower - I am not sure about Wheelie since I did not try it. Benpacker could be made 5cm narrower and a huge backpack would fit in. But if you would want to make it even narrower, you would need to have tall protections next to the wheels. This would add weight - major problem. I think trailers should be lighter. My bicycle trailer Topeak Journey has just 5kg. Benpacker comes in at 8.5kg. Maybe the design results in a bigger weight but I do believe it could be lighter.
@CharlesHarpolek4vud5 ай бұрын

I disagree with this video. The author wasn’t hiking in America, where, it is more common to have maintained trails in general. Second, the author didn’t include a mono wheel trailer with disc brake and independent hip attachment system with ridgid frame design for cargo.

the pack should have optional straps to carry over difficult terrain . i've made my own, with straps, and never ha much problems with it. although the video has its points: those carts werent made for rough terrain. they are fantastic on relatively smooth trails and roads.

I am thinking that a single wheel with two additional smaller assist wheels, sort of like bicycle training wheels might be a hybrid that could be the best of both. The training wheels could be flipped down to be lower than the mono wheel for some terrains.
@anonymousf4549 ай бұрын
Hell if you could add some kind of small motor that would be evrn better. You stand on the axle of the smaller two wheels and ride it when you can, push it when you cant ride, have motor assist when going uphill, back pack it when you have to, and have a pully system to winch it up if you need to climb something.

Hard to tell without testing. The experience with the Monowalker is that you have to hold the handle bars. Otherwise it it tipping over. I am guessing the same would apply to Dixon. I had a brief look at some of the review videos. To me it seems it is unstable sideways. But I may be wrong. Maybe they solved the problem in some way.

Thanks for a thorough and helpful review! I see that Monowalker now has the option to put a rack on the wheel, which opens up to put a lot more of the weight on the wheel, reducing the weight you have to carry. Do you think this would also change the possibility to walk without holding the handles?
@mukiker5 жыл бұрын
Wild Johan Watch out. I have the tire rack - I just installed it without the pipes. See my other video about Monowalker only. It is decreasing the stability even more - you have to balance weight on the left and right side of the tire rack. Annoying.

I think a better design in general would be if the two wheels were one in front of the other instead of side by side. Make the front wheel steerable. Maybe put a seat or something in the middle so you could ride down hills. Maybe too complex but it would be neat if you could ride on the trailer and propel it forward on flat ground too, like a little pulley something to spin the back wheel.
