Just got this monitor cause I broke my other benq from stressing on finals haha, threw a pencil and it bounced, you get the point. Bought this monitor cause my computer science project is due on friday and can't afford anything better. Also, you have the best review out there for this monitor.

I got the monitor, really good u just need a dvi cable. mine didnt come with an hdmi had to go and get the dvi, but it's better than an hdmi imo

im planning to get this exact monitor at the end of the month with a pretty good deal for 83$ roughly. glad to know gaming performance has no issues. been using 1360x768p monitor about 7 years and its time to get a new one. but im gonna keep using vga to hdmi active converter, sad they dont include hdmi with it. good review!

Really good video! I might pick one of these up in the future, as I'm still using a 1440 x 900 monitor which gets the job done, but isn't that good.

Well at least 1440x900 is way better than the old 1280x1024 monitors that I had to use before I got this one. Black bars on every video :)

Staying on 900p (1600x900 or 1440x900) has it's merits, though. If you play games, then you get better performance. Sure, the screen is not so "detailed" as 1080p, not to mention 1440p. However, I believe that as long as the size is not too big and the screen works with it's native resolution, then it's fine to use lower res monitor for better performance without having to upgrade the GPU so often :)

Nice review. Does the monitor have backlight bleeding/clouding? Is the vertical viewing angle really 178°?

There's a bit of background bleeding, but it's quite minimal. Also, the viewing angle is about 178 degrees according to my estimate. I'm not sure if it's exactly that value, but it's better than 160 deg for sure.

Ah indeed the lighting wasn't great here. This room is quite a challenge to do lighting in because it's a loft, so I don't have any bright white walls to rely on like most people. But this very week I have actually purchased a very powerful LED to solve the problem, that should eliminate the grainy footage.

I am thinking about buying 24 inch version of it - GW2470H, which I guess is exactly the same except for the size. However, I heard A LOT about intense ghosting on this screen that shows up in games in darker areas with strong contrast (like slightly lit caves or basically sceneries at night). There are a couple of videos on KZbin showing that problem if you search for "GW2470H ghosting" or "GW2470 slow response time". There are videos from Skyrim and Witcher 3 that show this problem. Basically, the screen kind of flickers and smudges in darker areas and a lot of details are lost during camera movement (f.e. in Witcher 3 there are some roots growing on the walls in caves, yet when the camera moves they get so blurry that they "blend" with the background color). Could you tell me if you also noticed that? I assume that this problem is heavily "amplified" because of camera recordings. I have a TN monitor and even old TN does smudge a little bit but I couldn't care less about it, to be honest. I am, though, a bit scared about VA in gaming because of the reports. Maybe you have a way to test it or you could share you experience?

I didn't notice any heavy ghosting. It smudges a tiny little bit indeed when, for example, scrolling through some text, but it's quite minimal and about the same as on the TN screens that are set up right next to it. Like you said, it smudges a bit but I couldn't care less, that's about my experience with this thing. I haven't tried the 2470H monitor, but perhaps the ghosting is worse on that one.

2 hdmi ports = 2 hdmi cables needed to use it?

No absolutely not. It just means that if you would have 2 computers for some reason, you could connect them both to the screen using HDMI, and use the monitor's buttons to switch between the output of the 2 computers. If you just have 1 computer and 1 screen, of course you just use 1 HDMI cable from the computer to one of the ports of the screen. (it doesn't really matter which one.)

Depends on your demands as a gamer. For casual gaming, I'd say it's just fine. (Personally I haven't noticed any problems when gaming on the thing) Perhaps if you're some sort of extremely competitive or professional player you'd need faster response times and or higher refresh rates.
