One thing with the image that people dont seem to notice is the absolute uniforminity of the image, every single edge of the screen just displays content without any bleeding backlights, no contrast shifts. It's not really something you think much about until you see it live. I personally am spoiled by just how great the 100% screen image quality is. As for HDR, due to the contrast i think it looks significantly better than mini led. The only thing i liked about mini led was its peak sdr brightness, but bleeding that brightness into HDR(RTX and auto) kind of ruins the effect. ABL on the other hand can be a bother in some instances, but those were rare for me. Shit just blows me away, when the HDR really kicks in. Sime scenes in elden ring, the scenes with proper black levels, or the intro stage in gears 5 when your wakking through a pitch black cave and the brightness of your armors "hey im a friendly" just pop in ways they just cant in sdr.

The 3 big cons of OLED: 1. Expensive. 2. Burn-in risk. 3. Dimmer full screen brightness, might not look as nice as LCD in day time scenes depending on preference. Outside of the above, OLED is literally better in everything else.

I get the best of both worlds by having a decent 4k 32" monitor for productivity, and a 65" LG C4 as a secondary monitor. Works perfectly for the games I enjoy since I'm no longer super interested in competitive shooters and such. Helldivers 2, Alan Wake, Dead Space have all been a blast and looked amazing on the big screen. All the caveats are kind of expected when you're at the bleeding edge of tech. That being said I fully expect to get at least 5 years of life out of the C4 since my old 55" C7 lasted the same amount of time before it started to show burn in - and today's panels are much more resilient than before.

@@ThisisCitrus Nope. Rting and Hardware Unboxed are both conducting accelerated burn-in tests. They are still present. While Rtings focuses on TVs and often older models, Hardware Unboxed sees burn-in as quickly as 3 months of worse case scenario type stress test on more modern OLED monitors. It is still a risk and care still need to be taken if you want your OLED to last.

The biggest thing when looking for oled monitors is sales. All these monitors that are well over a $1000 are constantly on sale. The one I got which is a $1500 one I got on sale for $800 and at that price I think it's absolutely worth getting an OLED and I've even seen some OLEDs as low as just under $600

One aspect often overlooked in the LCD vs. OLED debate is the parallax effect that occurs near the edges of an LCD panel due to its polarization layer. While this issue is mainly noticeable on larger (32"+) flat panels, it can become quite irritating, especially if you use software with very thin or narrow scroll bars. OLEDs don't have this issue at all, next to the pure blacks and insane pixel response times, it's something that instantly stood out to me.

The problem with HDR is that the _games_ often don't implement it well - in fact sometimes games implement it really poorly. KZbin channels like GamingTech do a lot of game testing and can tell you which games are worth playing in HDR and which can be skipped - and which will look good if you use the settings they found.

Windows also freaks out if you have more than one display in HDR mode. Moving windows to ither virtual desktop workspaces is just flat out broken on all but the main display. It’s such a headache I have decided it’s not worth turning on at all.

Any IPS has IPS glow, it's just a function of view point. Move yourself further or use longer focal length camera and it disappears. While bleed is manufacturing problem that doesn't change with viewing position.

(why place 25" monitors side by side when you can just place a 50" TV on the table, haha) There are little to no drawbacks imo since multiple screens and wider screens became the norm for gaming focused setups. One thing to note that a lot of people miss is that low fps content looks worse on OLED. If you’re in the 30fps range it almost looks like a shutter door since the frames are displayed so quickly, you lose that blur between frames that traditional led monitors produce. I have a hard time playing console titles or on switch in 30fps on my OLED’s even when using motion smoothing features. Just some food for thought.

For the longest time of my life I used PCs I somehow managed to scrap together that where barely running. But I had a great time with friends gaming hours on end. Now I have a 4000€ PC, that ASUS Monitor, VR Headset and so on but only like 5 hours per week to play … adulthood sucks sometimes lol. Il say it straight if you work that much on your PC don't get oled that simple oled r made for mainly entertainment so gaming etc and casual browsing soif you mainly work on it for 8 hrs you will get get burn in with in a year because on the channel monitor unboxed he tried to use a oled monitor for work only so 8 hrs a day so after 3 months or so he all ready got signs of burn in so my guess before he hits 1 year he will get burn in since he uses the monitor for only work so in your case 8 to 10 hrs work is a no go so get a mini LED instead better for what you do until micro OLED comes but that's far away than it's no burn in risk

I think you should buy tv like 42"-48" LG c4. They are cheaper and 42"-48" is better suited for 4k resolution. 32" is super small for 4k. I have 48" LG c1 and it was best thing i have done.

Depends on how much you value the image quality. I have an LG OLED and IPS panels side-by-side by I mainly use the IPS. I leave the OLED for movies and such. Doesn't really matter in most games, I don't play them for visuals anyways. And text looks sharper on 1440p ips compared to 4k OLED thanks to Microsoft not implementing cleartype for WRGB subpixel layout.

I've heard that the jump from 240hz to 360hz is small but definitely noticeable, but I think in your case the biggest improvement would be the switch to OLED. The quick response times of OLEDs have very little to do with input lag, its just how quickly a pixel can switch from one color to another. Faster response times result in better motion clarity, with less ghosting and motion blur. High refresh rate OLEDs feel so nice to game on because you can see everything clearly, even in fast motion. I will say the longer you can wait, the cheaper and better OLEDs will become. 280hz IPS is still a great monitor and I wouldn't really feel the need to upgrade to a $1000+ monitor right now unless you have the money to spend, and really care about the better motion clarity and contrast ratios.

After using First Gen qd oled, in terms of HDR, the problem is that 1000 nits mode, decreases average picture brightness by half when u reach specific scene brightness (it does it to keep that nit difference), making HDR 450 true black overall brighter minus highlights (as it doesn't dim nearly as much). Still if overall picture is super bright youre so close to it's 250 nits limit, that even SDR at around 100% will look the same. Monitor is just unable to make anything pop when overall scene is too bright. MLA WOLED is better for HDR now for like 1-15% highlights, but... there is no glossy finish which I grew to like. Keep that in mind folks. Can't wait for next gen WOLED but without matte finish, possibly 300 nits at fullscreen white.

I bought the first round of 1440p 240hz OLEDs. They are overrated. Is it nice? Yes, but these KZbin channels sold them like the second coming of christ and it is disingenuous. Hell, most game's implementation of HDR is ASS. Get a quality IPS for half the price.

That's why I went with a VA panel. Really high contrast, almost pitch black. No ghosting on my particular model at 240hz. It is 1080p but it was 1/10th of the price of this oled monitor. It's also more vibrant than the ips monitors I've used.

There is a significant difference between OLED monitors and TVs. Usually TVs are brighter and larger which again makes it seem even brighter. To me HDR is a HUGE selling point, and really does make a massive difference in movies and games. The colors, shadows and highlights just stand out so much.

After tax, I paid just shy of $2000 for my LG 40WP95C-W 40” UltraWide. I have ZERO regrets. I bought it for productivity with a macbook pro but it still has a 75hz refresh rate so it's got a smoother look and feel than any other 60hz screen. The screen itself though is absolutely incredible.

1440p looks sharp on a 27" monitor, if 32" go for 4k would be better. Plus, it also depends on the quality of your 1440p monitor display like panel, color gamut, contrast, etc... Some 1440p IPS panel does comes with low contrast but some looks fine. Of course, it also depends on the "budget"...

@@strider029 👍 I found that those I mentioned above is ideal inches for different resolution, but not super bad. It is because I found that a lot of users said that 1080p is lousy, pixelated, blur, etc. End up they were talking about 27" 1080p😅😅 For 1080p, it looks sharp if go for 23.8" / 24". Same scenario for 27" 1440p and 32" 4k, ideal perception.

Any comment on the QD OLED panel washing out in bright environments? I can (and do) keep my room fairly dark, but how dark is dark enough? I don't wanna spend 1300 to find out, and looking at the screen in a brightly lit showroom probably won't help much.

what screen exactly? look on rtings and see how much brighter it'll be and then you can turn your current screen to the max and see if you got "brightness issues". (can't get bright enough to fight glare, blacks get elevated without darkening the room) If yes I'd say that it might not be the right choice. if you don't get the issue it's worth the try imo, especially if you get them somewhere with a good return policy.

It's noticeable to me in office environments. Wait for a second gen version to get a filter/coating on it to reduce that issue or go with an LG panel. But not those $500 1440p 27in panels. Those aren't very good. Sharpness leaves a lot to be desired. I got one and returned it almost immediately. Too blurry. If you're not in a bright environment then you're fine.

use mine during the day, you will be fine as long as you are not having direct light on the front of it, i even have my blinds completely open, while there is indeed slight black raise that happens, its nowhere near as bad as people make out to be, it could also be how my room is setup as well tho

My room is pretty bright, but unless I play really dark games or watch such movies (like horrors or sth) it's not noticeable at all. And the "washing out" apply only to blacks, because they get slight purple tint - other colors are untouched.

Lossless scaling frame generation produces a smoother motion but introduces a lot of artifacts and the game feels less responsive than native

Personally the cost isn't my problem, my old monitor was $1500 on sale when I got it, it's the brightness. OLED looks great, but the brightness plummets with area of the screen used where over 20% is less than 500 nits and 30% goes into the 200s. My old monitor had FALD so it was already better than 99% of LCD displays so darks aren't that big a benefit. But my monitor was able to hit 1000 nits or 750 full screen. That's just so much more. For me the benefits of the OLED are more the motion clarity and the benefits of a glossy panel, which monitor makes seem allergic to for some reason.

I got the LG 1440p 240hz W-OLED, open box for 800 in 2023, back when it was 1k. I am so glad I did, it's easily the best thing I ever did. Say, if you have a 3080/3070, and you were looking to upgrade your monitor to a 4070ti/4080... don't. Just get the monitor instead. Such an amazing upgrade. Clarity and color is just so good.

Great video...A friend once tried to convince me to buy one of these, saying that "Eventually you'll need a 240hz 4K monitor as the graphics card technology catches up with higher 4K resolution gaming" but, my main argument is "Why would I buy that 4K high refresh rate OLED monitor right now at over $1,000?...Instead, why not just wait until the price on 200+hz 4K OLED monitors starts to come down once we can actually push the higher resolution graphics up to those 200 plus FPS numbers without having to lower settings to sacrificing the image quality just to reach those higher FPS numbers" :)

There’s a lot of games that i’m getting close to those numbers though, especially with tools such as DLSS 3 Frame Gen + Nvidia Reflex + Boost, and that doesn’t sacrifice image quality in any noticeable way, I personally couldn’t see a difference. For example I was getting like 170 fps in God of War: Ragnarok at 4K Ultra on the 4090. Also with the 5090 about to release in the next couple of months, that’ll take way more advantage of these monitors. Also it isn’t just the framerates but 240hz is nice to have in 4K. The main difference OLED makes is those true blacks and that contrast which is unmatchable.

I bought the GLOSSY !!! 32" Dell AW3225QF. $899 on sale. Incredible. The best picture I have ever seen on my computer, and I have a 32" LG32GQ950 ATW Nano IPS too. Night and day. Love this Dell. The curve is SOOOO slight, you hardly notice it, but it also adds just a little something to games. Very happy. The M28105 Firmware fixes everything from Old reviews.

OLED + 4070 > 4090 + IPS. The visual quality is better than any graphics settings. Just add DLSS or lower settings. It will still look way better.

2:20 Correction, OLED is generally lit at a sub-pixel level, so a 4K TV might have over 8 million pixels, but it will have at least 24 million individually lit sub pixels, many TVs use multiple sub pixels of the same color to have better control over the brightness of each color so a 4K OLED with only ~8 million pixels, might have as many as 100 million OLEDs AKA individual dimming zones.

Contrast is normally factory set at a default value and does not require an adjustment on modern monitors. If you adjust it in any direction, clipping happens and you get blown out whites and crushed blacks. If you don't know the default position, reset the monitor to factory settings. If you need better contrast, calibrate your monitor with a good colorimeter to BT.2020.

I ended up getting this. - Awesome colors without tuning (in my opinion) - 240 hz. Latency and motion clarity feels just like the 27" AQDM, but in 4K! - Very, very decent HDR. Not MiniLED level, but generally adequate and feels much brighter than AQDM and Samsuing G8 OLED. All in all, if the AQDM is a 7/10, this is a 9/10. But too bad it doesn't have 480 hz. Text looks GOOD!

I bought the same screen. It’s one of the first screens that combines 4K + 240Hz + 1000 nits (peak) HDR. And is OLED for deep backs and per pixel HDR. Two years ago you had to pay 3000$ for a 1000 zone local dimming over 1000 nits 32” 144Hz 4K monitor. That monitor had a loud fan. And it had a wobbling halo around your mouse cursor due to too coarse local dimming. It also lacked HDMI 2.1 ports (for consoles). So I wouldn’t be complaining about the price. It’s half the price of a similar two years older monitor and has fixed the haloing issue, no loud fan and higher refresh rate and faster pixels too. Has HDMI 2.1 and has 95W charging over fast USB-C port capable of 4K 240Hz signal for laptop use. And KVM switch for laptop + desktop seamless use. This is the first no-compromise monitor for me. Two years ago I said that I buy a monitor like this if the price halves. And I did. And I got even better monitor too :)

I bought a LG 3440x1440 45" OLED monitor and I love it. Where you were showing 4 k with upscaling at 150ish max. I can get 220-240 in Horizon Forbidden West. Granted I am using a RX 7900 XTX card. Now part of why I wanted such a large monitor is that I keep my eyes over 5 feet away from the monitor.

Hey. I have that exact LG model too. I am also extremely pleased with the purchase. One problem I have with it is that sometimes, the USB hub just DOESN'T WANT TO F***ING WORK!!! Biggest improvement to it was peeling off the obnoxiously well glued on g-sync sticker.

The TestUFO image duplication problem is because you're using a static camera position, but those parts of the test updated to a new monitor refresh mid-way through your capture. To avoid this you need to either carefully test using a persuit camera (moving on rails at the same speed as the UFO, so that both images stack on top of each other) or you need a shorter shutter speed.

I have to say, on my ultrawide OLED, it's not the blacks or the contrast that make the most difference but the screen width. Two full screens with no bezel between them is a real game changer. Dying Light 2 looks spectacular. Watching movies on an OLED is stunning though.

Upgrading your monitor gives you headroom. I'm currently running an MG279Q at 144 Hz. That monitor came out in 2015. Back then I could barely achieve 144 FPS in contemporary titles using respectable settings. It's been almost 10 years, now I can hit 300 FPS in Apex maxed out. 200 FPS in Fortnite at a touch higher than competitive settings. I need more monitor. The times have changed, the expectations have changed. Everything has changed

I upgraded my 10+ years old 24" 1080p 60Hz tft monitor to a 27" 1440p 180Hz IPS monitor for about 230€ (~250 freedom coins) including 19% sales taxes and I freaking love this upgrade I think I know now why these tech channels say the monitor makes a huge difference if you upgrade like I did But I can't imagine that an upgrade from my IPS panel to any OLED panel would be nearly as impactful to me😊

The sad thing is, most people watching this video are watching on non-OLED monitor and cannot see the difference OLED offers. You can only appreciate OLED when you look at it from an OLED monitor.
