Benromach 40YO, 57.6% - Whisky Wednesday

Really like Benromach, agree with both of the Ralfy reviews though - I think it's such a strange spirit it's not quite my thing at low abv. In 2 years when the economy has collapsed and we're all starting tyrefires for winter heating, we'll reminisce about the good old days when Benromach of all distilleries would be able to charge 2k for a whisky and someone (presumably) actually bought it. Think I'll take 20 bottles of 40yo Armagnac instead, thank you!

20 bottles of 40YO Armagnac is a better deal, but this is one of the better 40YO whiskies I've tried, certainly not one that has a ridiculous price just to have a ridiculous price. Regarding the tonka bean smell, used to work in kitchens and bars - used it in our desserts and cocktails, Irish coffee mainly.

If I had this kind of money for a bottle, this would easily be top of the list. Genuinely good, but unattainable for most of us.

This sounds amazing. Have you had the chance to have the 2021 release? Great to compare it to the HP 30 and that's half the price. Great review.

Now that is a lucky find! To be fair you're not going to put a foot too far wrong with liquid of that age. A bottle is a little rich for my blood though.

Same, but atleast it's a fair price given what other distilleries are charging for insanely old spirit.

Very! The quality of Benromach never ceases to amaze me. Incredible liquid, just wish I could afford it.
