My dad -- Lee Vines -- was the announcer for this show.

Gloria DeHaven's Wikipedia page indicates that she attributed her youthful appearance later in life to an organic diet and faith in prayer. Her religious beliefs may explain her choice of Eve as the woman she would like to be, as well as her answer that Eve was a real person.

I’m an avid WHAT’S MY LINE & TO TELL THE TRUTH fan! I listen and watch (only at stop lights lol) on my drive to work. It’s getting to the point where I’ve seen pretty much every episode and was beginning to worry what I will do when there’s nothing new. Then I fell upon THIS show! Is this also a Goodsen/Toddmsn production? It’s not quite as good as WML and TTTT but like the comment above, yes there are times when it’s hysterically funny! But I doubt the series ran anywhere near the years the others did. Does anyone know anything about the v details and lifespan of this show? It’s amazing that in 2025 I can watch game shows older than me from the 50’s that are better than anything we have today!

If Robert would put his hand over mine like he did to the first contestant I would die right there 😍😍😍

If a contestant stumped the panel, the most they could win is $75.00. By using Inflation Calculator, $75.00 in 1953 would be worth $886.00 in 2024.

Eve's gift is one of the most notorious acts in Western culture. Swanson was right.

This is what ABC is all about

This episode was particularly bad for misleading answers (Eve not notorious!?), panelists not paying attention (or being clueless: Cleopatra in the Bible!?) and taking points away for questions that had been answered before when they usually didn't. NOTE for the smart alecks: Technically there was a Cleopatra in 1 Maccabees but she was an ancestor of THE Cleo and 1 Mac. isn't canon (sorry Catholics et al. ;p )

The harem bit is a little suspicious. This was at the onset of the quiz show scandal era. I wouldn’t be surprised if the panelists were given some of the names beforehand to make the show a little less dull.
@Fardawg3 жыл бұрын
I tend to think the panel could simply judge by the audience reactions if the answer was something "risque" and knew to play it up for laughs for a bit.
@zzzut3 жыл бұрын
@@Fardawg That‘s possible as well.
@abhinavs11373 жыл бұрын
I don't think so. With a name like "Harem", absolutely anything would've induced laughter & the audience in these episodes seem to be waiting to go "Hahaha" at anything.

The Host blew it twice: a backhanded compliment ("you're just about as pretty as Marilyn") is no compliment, and he called her Miss Swanson.
@Fardawg3 жыл бұрын
That wasn't backhanded, he was saying she was nearly as pretty as someone who was considered by many to be the sexiest woman alive (saying she was "as pretty" would be taken as a lie). That wasn't insulting in the least. And he didn't call her "Miss Swanson" he said "thanks so much 'from Swanson' for playing The Name's the Same." That's what he says to the guests as they leave. He is thanking them on behalf of one of the show's two alternating sponsors, the frozen food company Swanson in this case. He says basically the same thing to the next guest "thanks a lot from Swanson..." and to every other guest! I'm guessing you stopped watching in a huff after you misunderstood what he said to Marilyn and didn't catch that he says it to everyone.

Great show but Lewis was a weak host who often threw the panel off-track. How is a harem "partly" human?
@yowpyowp73746 жыл бұрын
He also doesn't keep track of things. Twice in this show, a fact had been established. Then Carl Reiner later tried to establish the same fact and was penalised a guess. Robert Q. should have told him that question had already been answered and to move to another question.
@zarabada61255 жыл бұрын
But the "partly human" didn't throw them off track. It actually got them to zero in on it being a group of people straight away.
@abhinavs11373 жыл бұрын
He's thrown the panel off track on so many episodes & surprisingly the panelists didn't seem to mind in the end. Even John Daly & Garry Moore behaved exactly that way.
