I was thinking why nobody who reviewed this phone said that it's a huawei phone with GMS. You nailed it man

I live in the UK and I'm a Huawei fan. I've pre-ordered the Magic 4 Pro and I've got the phone, case, wireless charger and Honor watch GS 3. I am so happy we have Google again on a Huaw ....Honor😅. After 3 days of usage I can say I love the phone. I hope they will also launch a foldable soon with Google on it and to compete with Vivo X Fold, as I've also ordered that from China, hopefully I'll get it as I've paid a lot of money for it. And for you, nice reviews in general.
@bogdanmaxim34122 жыл бұрын
I also live in the UK. :) I don't want to discourage you, I bought 6 months ago a Vivo X70 Pro+ from China. OriginOS was a nightmare for me. Although the phone was set up in English, Vivo native apps (the app store, home launcher etc.) were still showing some of the content in Chinese. I had notification issues all the time; I wasn't receiving notifications in real-time from WhatsApp, Messenger, Messages, Facebook and Gmail. The overall appearance of OriginOS was very unfriendly (I have used before phones from Sony, Huawei, Samsung, and Oppo). I've tried to replace a few native apps and set them up as default (I bought Nova Launcher, for example), but the apps were constantly crashing. My Sony WH-1000xm4 headset wasn't answering properly to controls when in use and there were features that I couldn't access them when I was listening to music. The camera system was amazing, with a weak spot on zoom photography which was quite poor in terms of quality. And the phone is still running now on Android 11 when most of the competitors will be soon on Android 13... Because of all these reasons I bought an Honor Magic4 Pro (I'm a Huawei fan too), it's my second day of using it. As camera system - both hardware & software, RAM & internal memory, display, design (I loved my blue leathery Vivo) etc. it's definitely a downgrade compared to Vivo X70 Pro+, but after all the hassle with OriginOS I feel I had to make this change. Now I would like to sell my Vivo, but I don't dare: any potential buyer might come back with the phone and smash it against my head. :)
@bogdanmaxim34122 жыл бұрын
Later edit: also when considering Huawei Mate 40 Pro, Honor is still somehow behind of it. Mate was released almost 2 years ago, but Honor is still behind it in terms of photo quality (please, have a look on Dxomark). Also in terms of quality, the gap between the Pro variant and Magic4 Ultimate it's much larger (15 points) than the one between Mate Pro and Huawei Mate Pro+ (only 3 points!), a thing that just saddens me... And the 100x time zoom is just an embarrassing gimmick.

@@DG-lf3kw it does support yes. I also have the Matebook X Pro and the Mateview monitor from Huawei. I've tested the wireless connectivity/projection with both, and it works perfectly. It's also recognising the Huawei buds Pro exactly like a Huawei phone, as you can see the animations when connecting to phone. I'm waiting for the Vivo X Fold now to arrive this week, I hope I'll be able to enable all the notifications and maybe manage to pay contactless via Curve app.
@alexandrugheorghe192 жыл бұрын
@@bogdanmaxim3412 Hi. I was aware about the notification issues before buying and also about some apps in Chinese. I've just seen a video yesterday about how to enable all the apps to stay on in background, cause that's why you don't get notifications, it's a chinese thing to save battery, remember Huawei 4-5 years ago on their China specific phones. But, I had a few china ROM phones berore, Xiaomi, Huawei, Oppo. Oppo was fine, but the rest of them had notification issues. Because I'm passionate about phones, I'm not bothered about this fact, I want to try them all, and it looks like Vivo is best foldable now. I'm using the Fold 3 and Mi Mix Fold for the last 8-9 months. I can't go back to normal phones anymore. So I can't wait for my Vivo now, Friday is the day 😌

I still have the Huawei P30 Pro too - holds up incredibly well so I am not in a hurry to jump on either the Vivo X80 pro or Xiaomi 12S Ultra - they both have their flaws (one overheats, the other has sub-par periscope/selfie cameras), so I will wait a bit longer for a phone that has it all.
@aurelienheinrich2 жыл бұрын
I have also gone the same route, I am mainly using the P40 Pro, for Google stuff, workarounds exist, and I still use my secondary GMS certified OnePlus 7 Pro too. But in any case, I don't see yet any reason to update until later, having the Pixel 7Pro in mind, a gen 2 product should be more polished or any other device not our yet out on the EU market. Yet on the photographic side, I'm sure I'll get a bounce forward with the newer socs and add-ons socs, but they are gen 1 in their iteration. MarinSilicon or the one in the Vivos, the already added benefit of 8 gen 1 SD with multiple ISPs can only get better next year. Had a brief thought for the Oppo Find X5 Pro, and the Vivo x80 Pro, but gave up. The P40 Pro was terrific at taking pictures, and the lenses with the same sensor on both wide and ultra wide is still working great.

Why does the United States have virtually no competition at this point? So many interesting phones at various price points that could put a lot of pressure on Apple and Samsung. Especially given that Samsung is charging $1,200 for the 8 GB of RAM version of the s22 ultra, which is less RAM then the Note 10 plus had. I was glad to see the pixels priced their flagship aggressively this year but with LG out of the market, and Motorola and OnePlus leaving some of their phones out of the US market, there's just not much in the way of competition
@roboticvenom19352 жыл бұрын
we need x80 pro, but this phone isn't competition, it gets blasted by the s22u and ben essentially concedes that in the video, AND he's a huawei fan. either way yeah we need vivos and moto's, oneplus also creates inferior flagships to smasung

Here in the UK it is great for choice, maybe too much as it is hard to decide which one! I went for the OPPO Find X5 Pro, but the VIVO X80 Pro and the Magic 4 Pro would be just as great and then we have the Xiaomi 12s Pro and Xiaomi 12 Ultra as well as the OP 10U coming soon so I can honestly say that it would be tough living in the US with basically Samsung or Samsung for my Android phone. I cannot understand the US game of playing political football with China, that benefits no one? But you voted for your governmant so I can only assume you are happy with the foreign policy.
@joshuabergeman3542 жыл бұрын
@@andyH_England you're kidding me right? We get two choices and end up picking least bad but that in no way equals best. And I had hoped that the new administration would show some sense and allow Huawei back into the global market with full access to America companies and services. But apparently that's not going to happen. So as of now our best hope is that people will continue to buy Huawei products despite their limitations and that will give Huawei time and resources to fully develop their ecosystem to rival Apple making them the third option.

Hi Ben. Usually I got the feeling, that your prios and opinions, results fits almost mine. So I also preferr the Mate's and the smaller things Huawei solved points like viewangle (turning screen or not), Attention mode for display, design round and premium feeling and very good cameras. So the tests you're making are very close to my experiences with Huawei, Honor, Xiaomi, BTK's brands... But I had the Magic 4 now in my hands and I wonder, how you'r experiences with the cameras made could be so good. The cameras with this fusion process (you hide this process very well in the scenes, didn't you? ;-) ) are producing so...so, but I got almost a poor quality, especially in darker or dimmed lights. I can't say, that the photos made are at a solid premium or upper midrange quality. Often the point and shoot will not success, cause the camera can't find any good image and show some moments later the next acceptable one image, which can be half a second later than you pressed the button. Moments are gone... And it has a lot of problems using the zoom lens in a good resulting quality as well. Often you get oil- or aqua -effects instead of the motive you shoot. Hm. Is it a testvideo you had really spent time for good testing? The camera has also big problems to make good photos with backlight - and this in any condition. Terrible results :-(
