The guy can sing and I don’t think the time changes but to the avg listener, it feels like it does, and that’s kinda what matters. But personally, it’s the lyrics. It’s the perfect poem to describe someone in their 20s, experiencing the fruits of a lifestyle change and the rewards far exceed what was promised. But years of self-sabotage and relapses remind him that a couple of bad choices and he throws it all away. If this song isn’t about recovery, i guarantee it speaks to a ton of people in recovery.

I fully agree!!! The passion and soulfullness has been missing from so many so-called singers anymore. Its a huge reason why I do love blues music and my 80-90s hard rock and metal bands! Benson Boone had to go independent to stay true to his brand of music.. but dannng!! Its working for him as you can easily tell by the FILLED stadiums at his concerts!!! His music reminds me so much of the great, passion filled artists of the 80s and 90s!!! True singers like Perry from Journey are extremely hard to find, especially with this kind of range and depth of feeling!!! You feel it down to your soul in EVERY song! I can compare his passion with Oliver Anthony's. 2 completely different kinds of music, but the passion they feel and we feel is in their vocals and in the awesome talents they have backing them with the instruments being played too! Whether its simplistic as in a singular guitar, but that guitar carries the weight of the message behind the lyrics, or whether it's a full band sound with the drummer banging those drums so damn good and the lead guitarist ripping out the passion through his abilities and the rhythm and bass guitars adding in everything else that is needed to make it all sound so full!!! My love for good music i was beginning to think was going to be lost in the realm of the blues artists I love to listen too, bc all of these 'popular pop artists" I cannot stand, mainly bc they all sound the exact same and have zero soul, zero passion.. but how could they? They're all controlled by scumbag agents and contracts only the devil himself makes. They sign their souls away without even knowing bc its all in the fine print no one looks at. I have found a deep love for all of the independent artists whether they're blues musicians, rappers, hard rock, heavy metal, or what people "claim" is country nowadays, or is actual country music, etc.. as long as they can stay away from these evil labels and be strongly independent and keep all of the rights to their own music, it is a revolutionary change in how good music is getting out there! I will keep posting and reposting people like Benson Boone and many others to keep them exposed to the people in my social media groups! If I'm feeling their music is just that good to be posted and reposted, then y'all know its not just some run of the mill crap copied from original artists and repackaged as their own or its bc their lyrics have hit me so deep inside I HAVE to let others hear them and hopefully feel what I feel! Maybe they do, maybe they don't, but either way, "music is the medicine" as Anthony Gomes says in his song! Yes, he is an amazing independent blues/rock artist.. y'all should take a listen too if ya have not heard of him before! also!

This song speaks to me on a personal level. During 2018 I harmed myself to the point of ending up in the emergency room due to an anxiety and depression crisis. I stayed in a slump two more years until covid forced me to go back home and recover with the help of my beautiful family. I also found an amazing person that loves me back. Ever since then I feel life is beautiful and I thank God every day for letting me stay, but I also ask for one more day to enjoy everyhing he has given me. Just one more day, every day. To anyone out there struggling, know there's hope. As long as you're alive things will get better. It always gets better.
