Ben, my wife and I have been on the road for over a year. After a year, we're still learning what works or what doesn't. What we need or what we don't need. It's a constant state of evolution. Glad to hear your using Starlink. We've had ours for over a year, and it's amazing. Your rig looks great! Looking forward to more videos! 🌲🌲🌲

Make sure you read up on salt water effects on lithium batteries. You don't need your Trooper burned up. Good luck to you. I am looking forward to following your exploration.

Just a heads up in case you are not aware, the (original) latches on the Alu-cab Hercules can fail after a period of off-road use. We have had them fail in Africa after as little as 3 weeks use. Alu-cab have an upgrade design available which you should be able to obtain free of charge. Best wishes for your travels!
@BenStinnett Жыл бұрын
Thanks for the heads up. I’ve seen some people warning about the latches and am keeping a close eye on them, trying not to put too much load on them while closing the tent. Cheers 🙌

Nice setup for travel - and a great sleeping bag/quilts. I will need to look into getting one or both of them
@BenStinnett Жыл бұрын
They are both awesome! The enlightened equipment quilt is a bit more customizable, I opted for extra down fill to keep things a bit warmer.

Have enjoyed your travels over the past couple of years s well as your “Troopy” build! Seems like there was a pretty large gap from your last blog when you were still finishing some engine repairs/upgrades? Then suddenly here you are on the road! Did I miss something? I would also like some sort of your plan of attack?! You’ve mentioned doing the pan American Hwy but I didn’t know you were planning on starting in Alaska…so for me anyway, it would be interesting to see your basic travel plans/itinerary! Was very sorry to learn of your split up…I know that is a very hard thing to go through in many ways. I pray that both of you have moved on in a healthy and peaceful way. Anxious to “travel along with you” in your future escapades and adventures! Praying Gods protection for you on your travels!👍
@BenStinnett Жыл бұрын
Hey Bob! You didn’t miss anything, I’ve got a backlog of the DIY build footage to get through, and I’ll be releasing that alongside the more up to date content (it was hugely stressful trying to finish the build and get moved out of my rental all at the same time, so getting footage and making videos took the back burner). Now that I’m on the road though, I’ve got a lot more time on my hands and am working on a set of “what’s the plan” videos and covering the where/what/why/how of all this! Thanks so much for still being here!
@bobknepper770 Жыл бұрын
All sounds good! I know you will have to produce “content” on a fairly regular basis which can easily overwhelm! Pace yourself…really make it a priority to enjoy the trip more than being busy with production! Make it a trip you ENJOY!! Really wish you well!!👍

Great build Ben. Sure it will take some time to complete and fine tune but I think you have the big items covered well. Looking forward to following the travels.

Thank you Michael! I figure with the big stuff covered the rest will fall into place.

Curious how tall you are and how sleeping with the Alu Cab 20% open is?
@BenStinnett Жыл бұрын
I’m 6’4”(193cm). Which seems to be slightly taller than the 80% section, but maybe only by 1 or 2 inches. Laying diagonally fits perfectly, but bending my knees also works when Bandit decides he needs more than half the bed.

I love the Troopy. It is on my list of future adventure vehicule. What was your steps to import that Land Cruiser in North America? I am curious. Thanks for sharing your setup. Wishing you safe travels. Greetings from a brother in arms from Yellowknife 🇨🇦.
@BenStinnett Жыл бұрын
Hey man! Thanks for watching! I got luckily with this one, the previous owner had handled the import before deciding to part to with the project. The forums were a huge help, I was browsing the classifieds at IH8MUD daily
