Wow! You did a wonderful job on that mess of scrap iron ( vise ) ! I don't know what else could have been wrong to start. That hyd press will come in handy much more often than you might think.

Thanks! I've used the press on some more recent videos and, while I don't use it every day, there's no substitute when you need it. :)

Thanks, I appreciate it! The restoration was a lot of work and ended up taking much longer than I first thought.

Yeah, this one probably wasn't worth the effort, but I don't care because I enjoyed the project. :)

When you press does cast iron not broken?
@Mikeattempts16 сағат бұрын
Only the jaws and body are cast iron, the part I was bending back into shape was steel.

What is that washer/cotter pin think called that you removed at 1:32? I have an old vise that’s missing one.
@Mikeattempts7 ай бұрын
I had to look it up, but it's called an E-Clip.

I have a powr kraft wood lathe I'm going to clean up a bit and I was wondering what paint you used on this vice?
@Mikeattempts2 жыл бұрын
It was some Ace Rust Stop Gloss Safety Blue spray paint, from Ace Hardware, left over from a previous project.

@@Mikeattempts Looks like it's been about a year, has it held up decent enough for ya?
