You seem to get given a lot of free stuff that doesn't work and you've been able to fix most of it.
@MikeattemptsКүн бұрын
Yeah, I put out a message about once per year asking people in my area for broken tools. I've been surprised at the stuff people will happily give away when it doesn't work. On the rare occasion, I'll start a project only to find out later that there are no replacement parts available anymore. This happened recently when I was working on a bunch of Ingersoll Rand die grinders. So, now I try to look to see if parts are available before starting a project. :)

With the last one you did, it might have been a good idea to replace the primer bulb while you were reassembling the carburettor.. I've had a couple of bulbs fail on me when they got old.
@MikeattemptsКүн бұрын
I've ran across some failed ones with chainsaws and some of these blowers seemed pretty old, so I assumed I'd be replacing at least one primer bulb. Surprisingly, they were all still in good shape, not stiff at all. That doesn't necessarily mean they have a lot of life left though so I'll keep an eye on 'em.

I keep seeing back and forth on this. I have a spin down filter 60 from boshart I want to install. They state to install before pressure tank (we are on well water). But I am reading people saying online to never put a filter before the pressure tank as it can ruin your well pump. Which is the best?
@Mikeattempts3 күн бұрын
We're on well water too and this is how ours was installed by a licensed plumber when our house was built. I had never even considered if the filter was installed in the proper location before reading your comment. On modern cars you start bleeding at the wheel closest to the ABS unit and work your way out. If you don't have air in the system then the order doesn't matter. Only fill to the max line if you have installed new brake pads all around. Half way between the min and max for old pads.

Hey there Mike, amazing video by the way, but I have a question. My Roomba does the same dance, exact same movement but says error 16 “place roomba on a flat surface” is it the same issue? Big thanks for everything
@Mikeattempts7 күн бұрын
I think error 16 is a different, and hopefully easier issue to fix. If you Google "roomba error 16" it sounds like an issue with the bumper being dislodged and not sitting evenly so the Roomba thinks it's tilted. The search results list a procedure to reset the Roomba and then instructions for fixing the bumper issue if the reset doesn't fix it.

What about older washing machines or top loads? Do they also have a filter? If yes, where is located?
@Mikeattempts9 күн бұрын
If your washing machine doesn't have a filter behind the bottom-front panel, like mine, it's probably on the back of the machine, at the bottom. If it doesn't have one there either, your model might not have a filter. However, I'm no pro so it would be best to check the manual for your specific model.

I can't get my top turned to off
@Mikeattempts9 күн бұрын
That part can be tough to turn. If you turn off the main water supply, you can bleed off the excess pressure by opening a faucet, then it won't matter that the top is on "Filter" instead of "Off". If you're unable to turn off the main water supply for some reason, you could use an inexpensive rubber strap wrench (like this: amzn.to/3OGuJRK ). The only other thing I can think of would be to get 2 pieces of wood (broomsticks or 1x2 lumber, around a foot long), put one on either side of the top handle, hold the ends of both pieces (two ends in each hand) squeeze and twist. Does that make sense? Let me know how it goes!

One important thing to note is that when the hub is being pressed in , the disk adapter used on the inside part of bearing ( transmission side with magnet) must only fit on the inner part of the bearing , not the outer. If not you risk damaging the bearing
@Mikeattempts9 күн бұрын
Good point. If I remember correctly, the inside adapter used when pressing in the hub was the same one used to press in the bearing. It supports the entire bearing so there's even pressure.

Hi Mike, it is still hard to beat a corded tool, they are less complicated and prices for parts are far less. It is great, all are fixable. You would think that a shop that owned these that the operators would just grab another grinder when they got hot and keep rotating them, but then we wouldn't be able to watch your videos. Thanks much.
@Mikeattempts10 күн бұрын
I agree, those Makita cordless drills were much more complicated than the corded angle grinders. I doubt the operators at that shop give any of the tool a break to cool down, they just work 'em hard until they die. : ) Thanks for the comment!

I have the 333vs and the band broke and I thought about just getting a new sander but the fix seems simple enough. I also got a new o ring that helps keep the dust trap on too (there’s two o-rings on the acceptor piece that holes the cup on and they either get worn out or break). I got that one (the one for the collection cup) from a plumbing supply store for 50 cents.

I guessing, but if the piston and bore is undamaged but its all black and cached, we can rule out hard running from cold start as that will tear the metal and many channels say you can run a 2 stroke full throttle from cold start without warm up???. Echo ect give out picture charts as to WHAT happens when you do this!!! Not pretty!! I guessing that black assuming you measure the cylinder for lack of wear, is wrong or poor 2 stoke oil or too much and its coated everything and clogged? it all up. Good synthetic or part if way to go and MIX it in a small container with some petrol THEN add to main container and mix thoroughly. Always shake container before use and oil WILL settle out and you could end up with very rich oil mixture. Always use gauge when setting coil air gap approx .15 .25 mm if bigger engine but small ones .15mm (Aust haha) will be close enough or check specs. Always replace oils seal and check bearings when doing a full engine service as seals cost nothing and wear even just sitting not used, like car batteries on shelves, they degrade with time. I also put in new needle bearings as they get hammered especially on chainsaws that run 12-14000 rpm and line trimmers only 8 or 9K?.
@Mikeattempts18 күн бұрын
I think maybe the first owner used bar oil in the fuel instead of 2-stroke oil. My guess is that they probably started having problems during the first or second tank.
@xx386818 күн бұрын
@@Mikeattempts Yes, i totally agree and hadnt thought of that. i may be right but the stickyness of bar oil would explain and hard baked thick coating but the bore seems ok metal wise. Forestry ect are using all those cooking oils and anything that isnt "oil" based and see to do ok on the bar for lube but for the gas mix, definitely a quality 2 stoke oil which i hear the echos and stihls run at 50/1 apparently they did testing and took it to 200/1 and still kept going!! This was labs and officially done i believe but shows how good the top stuff is. Personally i use 25/1 on my old S/h 2 strokes just to be safe as using off the shelf synthetic but never had a clogged plug or rings ect. Another channel test diff mixes and found that 50/1 ran cooler than 25/1!! but i sure he was using top shelf stuff or not, he didnt say but exhaust temps were lower as less friction?

Can I ask a question? Why not replace the bearings and brushes in all, considering you already have it all apart. I'm not picking holes in your video only asking
@Mikeattempts18 күн бұрын
Brushes wear down pretty slowly, so it seemed like a waste to replace 'em if they still had 3/4 life left. As for the bearings, they all seemed to be in good shape and, if one did go bad, they'd be easy enough to replace. I'm no pro though, others might have done it differently.
