Great video!! The problem with 451 Makitas is usually the speed change ring with the inside teeth being worn on the on top in the middle of the ring, but maybe in your case it was the gear case. When you removed the shaft on the white makita you could have just clamped the shaft in the vise and remove the chuck. If nothing works, just cutting the chuck off is a great and fast option. One more suggestion is to watch Dean Doherty on YT, he has an absolute plethora of knowledge on this subject

how much would it cost to buy new or second hand batteries for these five drills?
@BrucePierson13 сағат бұрын
I have an 4" XU1 angle grinder that had a worn out bush at the back of the output shaft. I'm in Australia and I could not find a replacement bush anywhere and Ozito does not stock internal parts for their power tools. I ended up finding a bush on eBay in England and I got the grinder back into service again. Another one was a Taurus (Aldi brand) 5" angle grinder that burnt out the power switch. I found the correct replacement switch at Jaycar Electronics, so that one is back in service again also.

I've got power tools, some of which I've had for over 50 years, so parts, even brushes are just not available. When I need brushes, I check out eBay and I can get brushes that are either the correct size, or sometimes I might need to trim down brushes that are a little larger to fit.

Talk about mud wasps - I turned on the exhaust fan in my shop, which I had not used for some time. It didn't turn, but just hummed. I investigated the cause and I found a mud wasp nest the size of a tennis ball built in the housing, stopping the blade from turning. Once removed, the fan worked again. I also find all sorts of holes filled up in all sorts of things like you found on the drill.

Got a similar pile of dead drills ages ago and was determined to fix em. Made the mistake of losing a ball bearing when I opened up the gearbox of a 90s cordless makita drill. Didn't trust myself to put it back together in the right order after so long, especially since I couldn't find proper documentation on repairing that model's internals. I'm happy to report that this video showed me enough of those drill's guts to confirm that makita has been building them pretty much the same as 30 years ago apart from the batteries and shells! Now I can finally follow along and get that old drill back in order!

Since you seem to like the feedback - at 1:19, you probably don't actually have to remove that screw which mounts the tube against the top of the washer. At least for me, getting that screw back into place is a real PITA (contributing factor: It's a semi-stripped Phillips...) Instead, after removing the screw to the back of the washer you can start the rotation of the tube assembly to get some play, then separate the bottom horizontal portion. Continue rotation of the ~8" disconnected portion.

A whole brand new wheel bearing hub assembly for a 2012-2015 Honda Civic costs about $35-$55 each depending on the quality of the part brand. That’s just slightly higher than the bearing by itself that requires a lot more work to replace. For a few bucks more you can replace the whole front wheel bearing hub assembly without all the extra work, or for a little more money you can replace the whole wheel and spindle assembly that again requires much less work than replacing just a single bearing with a bearing press/remover. Checkout this video link to see how much easier it is to just replace the whole bearing hub assembly. kzbin.infoNo1UkqDeyaU?si=iY0yigd_hanwT8Rv
@Mikeattempts5 күн бұрын
That's true, people have many options for this repair. However, a new genuine Honda front wheel bearing hub assembly is gonna cost more than that. Either way, I think if someone is willing to do this job themselves, cost is probably a factor.

By far, the hardest part of this project is putting back the small screws that secure the pan. Aligning the holes in the pan with the holes in the base of the machine was difficult enough, and getting them screwed in was extremely difficult for me, and took a long time. The fact that the heating element is above the screws made it even more difficult. I cannot understand how the man in the video makes it look so easy!

So a regular spark plug socket doesn’t work? Can u explain what rubber u used
@Mikeattempts7 күн бұрын
Regular spark plug sockets already have a rubber ring inside. However, I only had the most common size and it was too big for these plugs. I didn't wanna drop everything and run to the store, so I found a piece of rubber that fit in the smaller socket. You could use a piece of fuel hose or any ring-shaped piece of rubber. Or you could just buy a spark plug socket in the correct size. :)

Its a shame today that most things they make , are becoming like i phones, they move on from a product to make the next so quick and discontinue the parts faster than road runner, I learnt many years ago be for buying a tool make sure the inner parts are still in circulation, and buy a spare internal kit straight away, if you are keeping the tool for long term, For outer parts you will always by a donor non working same model for a few quid which are good for the outer parts like trigger and so on , Ive noticed many tools on sale or ones from E bay or Amazon have been discontinued that`s why they are being sold at a sale price or from a lot of third party vendors,Who got hold of them at a knock down price, Dwelt were very good on spares for many years after, but I think they are getting the same as many companies ,

I got a free chainsaw from a haunted house that closed and was throwing a bunch of stuff away. It had just been used the month before but it got to the point it was taking 2 people 20minutes to get it started and then had to leave it running because if it shut off it'd take 2 people 20 minutes again. I'm no pro but it sounds like the motor is weak. If you've already had an electrician look it over, I assume all of the wiring it correct and secure so something must be wrong with the stator or armature windings. If it's still under warranty, then I would see if you could get a replacement.

@Mikeattempts14 күн бұрын
The editing makes it look easier than it actually was. ;) I'm no pro but the only things that could cause low compression, that I know of, would be a stuck piston ring or a scored cylinder. Remove the muffler and you should be able to see if there's any scoring on the piston. You should also be able to tell if the ring is stuck by lining it up to the exhaust port and trying to compress/move it with something plastic or wooden like a chopstick.

@@barberg5694 Oh, it already has a new piston and cylinder, got it. I've seen bad compression readings from certain testers so, if you have a new OEM piston, piston ring, and cylinder, I don't think compression is your issue. I would just double check to be sure you got all of the fuel lines connected properly to and from the carb and primer bulb. Also, make sure none of the fuel lines are kinked or twisted. If all of that has been confirmed, and it still won't start, you could try turning in both the Low and High speed carb jets all the way in and then turn them each out 1.5 turns and then try starting again.
