crafted in Crewe, England, by a team of highly skilled artisans, the Mulsanne is the flagship of the Bentley range and represents everything Bentley knows about building the world's most powerful, most luxurious cars.
The Mulsanne family comprises three distinct models, all with their own unique abilities and attributes. The Mulsanne, Mulsanne Speed and Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase all share Bentley's unrivalled levels of attention to detail and craftsmanship, while at the same time catering for the needs of individual customers.
The new Bentley Mulsanne Extended Wheelbase, has been designed with the rear-seat passenger in mind. An additional 250 mm of rear legroom, airline-style extending leg rests and a rear compartment sunroof combine to create the most relaxing automotive environment in the world.
The Mulsanne Speed, meanwhile, is tailored for the driver with 537 PS (530 bhp / 395 kW) and 1,100 Nm (811 lb.ft) of torque resulting in a 0-100 km/h time of just 4.9 seconds (0-60 mph in 4.8 seconds) and has a top speed of 190 mph (305 km/h).
The front of the new Bentley Mulsanne has been entirely redesigned. The new, imposing front end is dominated by a large stainless steel vertical-vane grille that celebrates the great models of the past, such as the 8-Litre of 1930, Embiricos and R-Type Continental. Through these vertical vanes the Bentley matrix grille is visible.

The VAG W12 engine was created for the VW W12 concept car of 2001 and first regularly used in the Audi A8 of 2001 and VW Phaeton of 2004. Bentley started using it in the Continental GT of 2003. The Bentayga came along in 2015. The engine uses indirect fuel injection and direct acting ignition.

I love how all this is put together by hand, more or less. I’m not sure what happened with the sequence of the video. It started in the middle of the assembly. Anyhow 🙂.

The contrast between the work done in this video and the work we did whilst I was at the Toyota factory in Kentucky is striking. For instance, The instrument panel was installed whilst the car was stationary. Everything they did during that process was done at the Toyota factory when the car was moving down the conveyor at a 55 second takt time. This means a new instrument panel would be installed in a car every 55 seconds.

What most people don't realize is Bentley is owned by Volkswagen, all the running gear, engine, transmission, suspension and electrical are all VW, The first production car to use the W12 engine was the 2001 Audi A8 (D2). Other cars to use the W12 engine are the 2003-present Bentley Continental GT, 2005-present Bentley Continental Flying Spur, 2015-present Bentley Bentayga, 2004-2011 Volkswagen Phaeton W12 and the 2005-2010 Volkswagen Touareg W12.

12:11 part of the metal mechanism of the seat hoist is rubbing against the seat, which could scratch the leather. This is something that should never happen. This hoist system should be redesigned.
