Love, love, loved the bookcases - very creative and inventive, elegant and smart - and fit perfectly into the Captains cabin you are creating, but in design and suitability. I might have been tempted to add a curved false wall set back by a couple of cm, so the books will not get pushed too far back and become unreachable, or unmanageable. I noticed your disclaimer re the craft knife should be used by adult crafters only - which is a fab idea. One of the other video's I watched went a tiny bit further stating that the things that they were making were not suitable for children because the sharp tools and resins they used etc - I can't find it to show you, but the statement was right at the beginning of the video, presumably for any sensors:-)

The curved backwall is a great idea! I think if I didn't plan to glue the books in then I would have definitely needed that or I would forever be fishing out minis with tweezers lol! Yeah I might have to start adding things like that too. I am not sure yet but I have seen others doing it now as well. Couldn't hurt! Thanks so much!💖

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving. My two co-horts in craziness and I recorded our radio show in the morning and I spent the rest of the day working on a project. It was a nice and quiet day with my dog and two cats. Computer design process for the Cricut Maker and the laser cutter would be awesome!! I find that part kind of intimidating. Thank you for taking us along on this project! Even if I had television, I'd rather watch your channel and all the other amazing miniature channels. I'll follow all of you to the ends of the earth. I appreciate all of the talent I see in the miniature community and I learn so much. Thank you! (I'm so glad there's a light at the end of the tunnel with the FTC and that the light isn't an oncoming train.)

I love this project so much. I started adding light dry brushing to my projects from learning from you. I’m doing a Tudor that is dark and saw that there was no dimension. The bookshelves turned out really well, Ara. They are going to look fabulous with all the books and treasures on them. FYI, I saw a little package of 1/12 scale telescopes in Michaels the other day. One was a bronze colour, I almost bought the package to send to you but I passed because I wasn’t sure if you wanted to make your own. I have a few 1/12 scale things if you are interested. I do have some books but some of them are in groups of several and you don’t want that. If you change your mind let me know because I will have no use for them ever.🥰

First, I LOVE the round bookshelves and the chance to send a book! Great idea! And, this is so pretty! I would really love to see how you add/work with your designs on the computer. Re: the FTC, while I am so glad that creators are breathing a (tentative) sigh of relief...I am a bit burned and a lot heartbroken. I did take down my videos...and I moved most of them over to adollhouseinmysuitcase on Instagram. It is unlikely that many people will find them there. I can't decide if I will swallow my pride and re-upload them here if it all turns out ok. I was pretty vocal about how misaligned this response was with my values. No one will care or remember what I said...except me. And, that is really something I am grappling with. The way KZbin behaved was just not acceptable to me, and certainly represents how little they value creators. I don't feel very forgiving about it because it is a pattern that they seem to repeat...unashamedly. But, I miss the folks who commented and subscribed. A number of people on Facebook who found me here are encouraging me to put the content back up. But, I just don't really know. I also resent finding myself wasting emotion on something like this that is supposed to be fun...with a world full of things to really be worried and upset about, it seems dollhouse videos should not rise to that level of concern. I suppose it just goes to show that I have poured heart and soul into this hobby, and like so many here...it feels so bad to have that disregarded by KZbin's powers that be. I guess I have a lot of soul searching to continue to do about this.

I completly understand your feelings towards YT and I know there are many that feel the same. I have no proof of this but I secretly feel that YT is trying to become more like a Netflix service. They are trying to take the "you" out of YT. Soon it will be all programming and network shows. That's why I am going to start putting videos up on another platform... for the day they boot us all off! Who knows what the future holds but I won't let the people at YT decide if for me ;)

I'm always surprised when content creators say they've only just lost faith in KZbin. I've seen it be terrible for absolute years now (demonetising LGBT+ content creators for simply talking about their experiences, trying to ban swearing, still allowing people who fill the world with a hatred a platform to yell their terrible views on, allowing targeted harassment to continue unchecked) so this is just the umpteenth awful choice in a long long line of awful choices. That said, I'm very very glad you're staying here because I love your videos and what you create. I find it very inspirational! Also, #TeamTrojanHorse 4ever!!!

Hello Ara, I just love the Captain’s Quarters and how you created them. Your spiral staircase is incredible and based on it will try to make a library stair case for my miniature “Cabinet of Curiosities”. Your ships models are amazing! Where did you find those? My father was a naval officer and sailed on a tall ship so to have one would be perfect! Thank you so much for all the joy, tips and tricks you re sharing with us. It makes self isolation bearable. I am 73 and live in Houston, Texas, which is still one of the COVID hot spots. For my birthday my daughter who lives in Chicago, IL, gave me a mini library kit and I am delighted! It is lovely and I’m learning from you how to age manipulate and age everything. Over the decades I have collected many miniature souvenirs which will all find a home in this mini museum. The quarters are coming along swimmingly (pun fully intended). It looks great! The bookcase design could not be more perfect for the setting. I would like to see how you put your designs into the computer. Always good to learn new tips and tricks! The book idea is awesome! Everyone can take a little piece of "ownership" and when they do that they will want to share the creation of the quarters with those they know. Great way to grow your subscribership and to give your current followers credibility and appreciation for their loyalty! It works out well for everyone! I am glad the FTC is listening (however much) and working on this. I mean, in truth, advertising companies have done what the FTC want to fine KZbinrs for since the dawn of TV! They sell junk food and junk toys to children when they know children are watching, and on what channels. Is there really a difference? LOL

Yes on the computer design, book making tutorial would be great. I will be sending a book from Australia, Ara I just had a thought, if you get a lot of books maybe your next project could be an old library. In Sydney we have the State Library of New South Wales, or the Library of Congress etc, etc. Maybe the Smithsonian that should keep you occupied for many years LOL. Seriously you had me worried, I thought oh no we’re going to lose Ara and Bentley House Minis, there are so many crafters that are seriously thinking of shutting down their channels. This situation is ridiculous, and KZbin is to blame. They cut a deal, they paid the piper and then said to Coppa you go after the channel’s you think are not suitable, not our problem. Whatever changes you need to make to keep your channel will be OK to all your fans.❤️❤️❤️

If I had the know-how, I would create a video platform called "CraftTube" so that all the crafters could upload all their content safely without all of the hoop-la that Google/KZbin has created because of their selfish needs for money that not only will affect the crafters and hobbyist channels, but also their fanbase. OOOOh! How very clever of you! An awkward space transformed into an interesting and innovative feature. You consistently amaze and amuse. I wish I had the wherewithal to actually "build" in conjunction with you, but I just HAVE to finish my Grand Obsession before its too late............. My personal update on the FTC morass: I have used some of my rather dormant writing skills to assist over thirty persons to formulate comments to post on the FTC page, and have started a "chain" to aide in getting the information disseminated to a wider audience - an audience that may or may not even watch KZbin, but who are generally concerned with fair and honest treatment of artists, craftspeople and creators of all kinds. Because of the current limitations on my life/lifestyle, I am unable to Patreon or much else, so I will do the little that I am able to accomplish in this sphere. Ps Smart move to create a new depository for posting older videos..........................there ain't nothing as assuring as insurance.........

How do you keep the scale right for every thing you make? I really like you're work and would love to get into creating miniature stuff, but the math and scales are so confusing to me

It does take some practice but if you work in 1 scale for a while you start to get an eye for whether it is correct or not. I work mostly in 1:12 scale which means 1inch=1foot. So when I first started out and I wanted to make a chair (for example) I would measure a real life chair and then translate that. If it was 3 feet tall then I know the miniature replica would be 3 inches tall. I hope to do a video on scale soon but for now I hope that helps! :)

I have a super dumb question (so I apologize). Will the captain access the shelves by standing on the stairs? Also is this a reading nook? If so how does he not fall through the hole? Yes I’m creating a backstory for the captain.

Not a dumb question at all. We acutally tested his ability to reach the books in a later video and it works pretty well. He can reach them all by standing on the stairs. And I imagine him grabbing a book and heading downstairs to relax and read it!

Boy just trying to read what the FTA wrote gave me a headache 😳😳😳but as I read it you can mark content Adult because of the use of sharp blades and that sort of thing thank goodness 😹😹😹 I still have to check my email at the moment as I have been so busy since I signed up and with all the junk mail I have been receiving of late it’s taking me longer to get through my emails 😏😏😏 On a better note I love the idea of making the book 😹😹😹the bookbinder in me just wanted to try and bind a real book at 1 half scale 😹😹but the thought of such tiny stitched leaves was mind boggling 😹😹😹

Ok on your rust look if someone has a cinnamon allergy then substitute cinnamon with brown chalk mix it with black charcoal that way if a person is allergic to cinnamon they won’t get sick. I’m not not allergic but that’s me.

Yeah I don't trust the platform to support small creators anymore :( which is sad because it is the creators that built up the platform to what it is! I have started uploading to BitChute for now👍 What would your channel be about?

They really didn't try to make anything work for their creators, just pitted them against the FTC. I heard (haven't been able to find the passage, but multiple commenters on the video had) that in the new COPPA Rule it does acknowledge that there is content that does appeal to both children and adults and if your content is that then you don't need to comply. KZbin left that out completely cause somehow they'll make money from it? Doesn't make sense to me, either way I DO NOT trust KZbin. I will definitely check out your channel on BitChute though! As for my channel, there are lots of things my husband and I want to do, so we might have a main channel and then a few side channels. Our main focus would be animations and skits, ultimately we want to run an entertainment studio (a lot like Rooster Teeth, except more family friendly). We each have multiple complex storylines that we would love to bring to life, so creating animated cinematics/series would be so great. Then I adore art and would like to have an art channel creating all sorts of different things, you're making me want to make miniatures now... And my husband likes gaming videos and wants to make those (I have a lot of fun joining him for those too!) Lots of fun things, but we just want to use KZbin as a spring board.

@@BentleyHouseMinis Hi Ara i was able to post a comment to the update and it has to go through administrators before it post but so much of the COPPA is arbitrary and ambiguous so its a mighty fine line of regulations and the two options you are given to submit videos is not even fair because many channels is family-oriented and I suggested that those making these rulings should actually watch YT before making any final decisions. Parents still have to be vigilant in what their kids can or cannot watch. I hope you have many more years on here.
