@bentleyopenflows plz guide how to add different levels of storage in Reservoir on waterGems
@bentleyopenflows
@bentleyopenflows Жыл бұрын
Can you explain what you mean by "levels of storage"? The reservoir element in WaterGEMS is used to model an infinite water source at a fixed hydraulic grade. If you need to account for storage that can fill and drain over time in an Extended Period Simulation (EPS), you will want to use the tank element, where you can model the bottom, top and initial level or elevation, and the volume characteristics. See the following article for more information. If this does not help, please post on our forum and Bentley Technical Support will be glad to assist: communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/w/hydraulics_and_hydrology__wiki/31984/understanding-tank-operating-range communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/f/haestad-hydraulics-and-hydrology-forum

I wanna ask about the first pump curve what does it mean? does it mean that the pump starts operating at maximum head then it decreases gradually in the same time flow is increasing ? Another question at what point we choose to design on? is it the intersecting point of curves?

Youssef, for a quicker answer, please post on our forum: communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/f/haestad-hydraulics-and-hydrology-forum For your first question, I am not quite sure I understand. Can you identify which time from the video you're referring to? It might be best to take this discussion to the forum. For your second question - your design point would be the point where the pump curve intersects with the system head curve. You can try multiple pump curves to see which ones intersect at a point that is near the best efficiency point. What about a flow control valve, throttle control valve, what's a discharge coefficient?
@bentleyopenflows

Ryan are you asking how to determine the discharge coefficient of your valve? (contact the manufacturer) Or, do you need clarification on what the program is asking for? See: communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/w/hydraulics_and_hydrology__wiki/16758/what-is-the-discharge-coefficient If you need further help, please post on our forum: communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/f/haestad-hydraulics-and-hydrology-forum

@@bentleyopenflows I'd like to understand mathematically how the discharge coefficient effects flow through a valve
@bentleyopenflows
@bentleyopenflows 2 жыл бұрын
@@Cheesercake please post the question on our forum and be a bit more specific. The article provided explains how the discharge coefficient is used mathematically. It effects the headloss depending on the pressure.

For Butterfly Valves - we need to use GPV in the model? I do not have any table or rating curve, can i use only Open/Close status and coordinates?
@bentleyopenflows
@bentleyopenflows 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Mohammed, the GPV element is used if you have a rating curve of flow vs. headloss for your valve. If you want to ignore any headlosses from the valve and simply consider the open/closed status, you can use the "status" property of a pipe, or use a TCV valve and change the status field there. If you want to consider headlosses through the butterfly valve, you would need to determine either the minor loss coefficient or headloss coefficient (K) for at least the fully open position. You can select "butterfly" as the valve type field in the properties of a TCV valve, choose the coefficient type, then enter the discharge coefficient or minor loss coefficient information. See more here: communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/w/hydraulics_and_hydrology__wiki/15981/valve-type-field-assumptions-and-use-with-a-tcv If you need further help, please post on our forum: communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/f/haestad-hydraulics-and-hydrology-forum

What is significance of base elevation in Tanks. I think There would be no effect if we remove Base elevation field from Property table. Min, Max, Initial are sufficient for All analysis.

understood: Water is always present between base level and minimum water level. This quantity of water will have an effect on Quality of water.

I wanna add a sluice valve and scour valve. But I don't know there properties, any body can help please, Thanks in advance.
@bentleyopenflows
@bentleyopenflows 3 жыл бұрын
Are you using WaterGEMS/WaterCAD? If so, a sluice valve or scour valve can be modeled in the pipe properties. If the valve is closed, set the pipe status to closed. Or, to model the valve as a node, use the TCV node element where you can set them to open or closed. For a partially open valve, you can model it as a minor loss coefficient in the pipe properties, or if using the TCV node element, set the status to Active and enter the headloss coefficient, or set to Inactive and use the Minor Loss Coefficient. See: communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/w/hydraulics_and_hydrology__wiki/2569/adding-minor-losses-to-pipes For more questions, post on the OpenFlows forum: communities.bentley.com/products/hydraulics___hydrology/f/haestad-hydraulics-and-hydrology-forum

I'm writing my honest opinion.....he give a knowledgeable information that is very good but in some place he is very very slow infact I'm going to sleep at some moments 2. If he gave an example on each topic in this way then I say it will get more understandable. 3. Please take a few second pause on every line...it is not an easy which he mug up..
