Great idea, It wasn't too tough to clean out, but I'll try to remember to do this on my next service.

So over all I get that the sponges you have in the canister are very good sponges. Thanks for sharing 💗👍✌️💯

I think they're honestly perfect for this particular filter. Honestly, you could probably just do two sets of them. Save a bit of money on media. If you don't care about having a specific ceramic media and have a really effective filter, you just might have to service it slightly more often or use two of the courses, only one of the medium and then a little bit of media

So I recognize the goal of keeping your media wet etc, but you could "easily" drain this particular canister because the intake is below the output. Once the quick disconnects are separated, you could put the bottom hose into a bucket and open the valves to drain a good chunk of the water out. This isnt possible with many canister filters where both input and output are on the lid. Edit: Bentley when are you going to get a reef tank controller and use it on a planted tank? You could do all these pump purge software stuff with a Neptune or CoralVue hydros, AND you could have auto dosed fertilizers, leak detection, etc etc.... I feel like if anyone could eke out the max usage for planted tanks, it would be you.

Next time you discuss these filters could you talk about the noise level. I can sleep in the same room as a Oase Biottherm 250 but a 600 makes lots of noise. I heard that the Fzone AstraStream is significantly quieter than an Oase Biotherm 600. Is that true?
@BentleyPascoe9 ай бұрын
As long as you are keeping the tubing correct so you're not getting too much air inside the canister. It's very quiet. I hear more noise from the water turbulence on the output then I do from the actual canister running.

Nothing wrong with a good sip of OF, I have a bunch of it 🤣 If you ever want a sample of Stagg let me know, happy to give you one!

Hi Bentley excellent video as usual I don’t know what your doing with your oase but I’ve had oase 600 for two years and apart from the first day I’ve never touched the primer - switch off disconnect clean reconnect and away it goes no need to prime - thanks for your videos mate and take care.

@Bentley Pascoe What size tank is optimum with this filter? I'm currently seeking a canister for 100+ gallon that will have exposed view hardware.

I'm still really confused why would you use the canister filter.
@BentleyPascoe Жыл бұрын
Like why you would use a canister filter in general or just this particular canister filter?

Good review, this thing is really close to a FX6 in terms of performance. Espically the two inlet model.

@nabokovfan87 Жыл бұрын
Yeah... I just really don't like the FX trays. They force things like sponge in a weird orientation and it makes something like media access a bit of a weird chore. Layout on canisters is just a really weird issue. It's difficult to put it into words, but when you look at all of the different iterations of everything available, it makes sense why simple is better. Weld on some handles, done.

Looks like 35 year old cannister technology just like my big Eheim. Why FZone would use stainless steel which adds cost and weight is beyond me. In my 40+ years with ehwim I have never had a plastic part break or crack. In fact, for the money I love my SUNSUN cannisters the most.

HMHC, do you use a pre-filter on your sunsun intake? Mine is so bulbous, nothing I've used fits well, it's currently without a pre-filter and immediately takes on any flake food.
