Great, informative review. For the Bentgo lunchboxes though, only the inner tray is dishwasher safe. Per the website, it says they recommend hand washing the the outer case.

I am sure you are right, but I stick them in the top rack. I am ok with the edges getting messed up if it means I am not hand washing them lol

Curious if the boxes get stained from tomato based foods ie. lasagna

I have put penne pasta with pasta sauce in the yumbox for my son, many of times. We never had any staining happen.

I haven't put pasta sauce in them, the containers are pretty hard plastic so I would imagine they wouldn't stain. But on the lids there is that rubbery sealing part. I would imagine that could get stained over time.
