The Covered Wagon looks magnificent - especially with that musical score !

What incredible music! Carl Davis should be better known...

One of the most poignant in the series. As is brought home numerous times, the "Old West" was still around when film companies moved to California, and even by the Twenties memories of it were still clear. That bit starting at 6:39 about outlaw-turned-director Al Jennings was absolutely fascinating. "He may have been a Romantic at heart, but he showed the West how it was. The public ... did not respond." Yup.

It's sad that the public didn't respond, as his movies could be categorized as documentaries.

My uncle (1918-1999) born in Chicago and my father-in-law (1912-1997) born in Pennsylvania both had a love and fascination for the west. Now I'm thinking that they developed their "love affair" because they watched these silent movies.

This is where the great Robert Mitchum started his career. An extra making 5 bucks a day playing a cowboy! Why is Iron Cody on here? He's a frickin Italian playing Cowboys and Indians. That's Disgraceful.
