fun fact, the in-utero construction of the penis is entirely coded by the Y chromosome, however sometimes the gene that actually triggers penis construction doesn't go off, so some people with XY chromosome are genotypically male, and phenotypically female.

While this is true, in-utero *construction* (i.e. determining that a penis is made in the womb) isn't particularly relevant to what NL was saying since a variable amount of the actual development of a penis comes from genes on the X chromosome so what NL said is still true. I assume you already know this but this is just for people who read this comment since they might think that the Y chromosome determines penis development after birth which is not likely to be true (although there isn't a definitive consensus on the division of penis development it's pretty widely acknowledged that both parents contribute to it)

Pretty obvious neither of you know what you’re talking about… there is a gene on the Y chromosome that acts as an initial trigger and (almost always) causes a penis to eventually develop, but there are also thousands of genes across all of your chromosomes (not just X) that contribute to development of the penis and your body in general. Almost every gene has multiple jobs and we don’t know 98% of how it works, if anyone claims to then it’s just a joke. Saying the Y chromosome exclusively contributes to development of a penis is like saying PVC pipe exclusively contributes to construction of a bathroom - sure you can’t go without it, but there are a ton of other building materials and tools you need to get the thing built. And then finally the environment will influence development when i take a shit in your metaphor toilet before the pipe work is done and the contractor quits because he doesn’t want stinky fingers and as a result your penis has a 90 degree bend in it when you reach puberty.

I was saying that the Y chromosome causes the penis to develop in the womb but many number of different genetic factors influence the development further ofwhich were not currently able to pinpoint the influence of. But, we could reasonably assume that both the half of our genes from our mother's pool and our father's pool influence it so what NL said was not incorrect (which was my point)
