Thanks for sharing your story, so many people are on the same boat and it's necessary to know they are not alone. I'm sorry you had to go through all that, some doctors are downright criminal in their ignorance, arrogance, lack of empathy and basic standards of practice.

Ashton Manual saved me too. It takes a very long time to heal even after you take the last dose. I agree with every word you’ve said. Suicide ideation is so common trying to come off. These doctors are clueless as to the damage they do. I’m so sorry you’re having to endure this.

Where can I find an Ashton method doctor!want to switch from Xanax to Valium but can’t find a doctor anywhere!please help!The list provided our pathetic by benzo groups I have looked up all dead ends!
@thirstonhowellthebird Жыл бұрын
@@tombalthis513 I am so sorry that you are struggling. You will have to do things for yourself because doctors do not understand or even believe the brutal withdrawal. I can help you though in guidance. I had a friend go to Mexico for me and she got the Valium for me. In Mexico it’s very easy to get. Then I followed the Ashton manual directions on how to water titrate and that’s how I was able to get off. It was very long, two years and it was brutal but it can be done and you will be so much better and healthier once you’re rid of that poison. I’m not sure how much Xanax you’re taking but you can use the Ashton manual to guide you as to how much Valium you need. If you are taking 1 mg of Xanax, I believe that’s equal to 10 mg of Valium. You would need to switch from Xanax to Valium. Xanax is much more difficult and has a shorter half-life than Valium. That’s why people switch. In other words, if you take a Valium, the residual of one pill stays in your body three days and it compounds on its self and it doesn’t do that with Xanax. It’s important to have that slow taper, so it doesn’t shock your nervous system so if you are taking 1 mg of Xanax, you would switch and begin taking 10 mg of Valium at the same dosage you took your Xanax. If you took Xanax in the morning and at night then you would do the same thing with the Valium, in the same proportion until you stabilize on the Valium. The second that you feel you’re stable that’s when you begin to reduce your dose through water titration. It’s pretty detailed so you’ll need a spiral notebook and measuring capabilities but I promise it can be done just go online and get the Ashton manual you can just Google the Ashton manual and print it out. It’s free and read it as well as the symptoms so that when you start having withdrawal symptoms, you’ll know it’s normal. Remember symptoms are a sign of healing and even though they suck, it will get better.

Ask your doctor to prescribe you Gabapentin. It is the medication they gave me during a rapid withdrawal in a clinic, and it killed off the physical pain and eased the anxiety. Tolerance and dependence are a risk, but far lower than with benzos, and it takes far longer. I had no issues getting off Gabapentin after about six months, following an easy taper schedule, and in the meantime my brain had healed from the benzo dependency. I highly recommend it.

Since ibuprofen reduces the inflammation on your nervous system - including your brain, it at least helps take the edge off when you're trying to taper off the Valium.

Just find a doc who will prescribe you the equivalent valium dosage for your benzo according to Ashton Manual. Eat a nutritious diet/food rich in omega 3 oil, magnesium, zinc, probiotics (kimchi or sauerkraut), 1 to 1.5 tsp Himalayan salt for your stomach to produce the strongest stomach acid to digest your food, esp iron and B12, do not drink liquid at least 30 minutes before food or 2 hours or longer after food so that you stomach acid is the strongest and not diluted, get plenty of sunlight (from 10 am to 3 pm) direct onto your arms and legs, do light exercise if you can. Cross over safely to valium from your benzo in 3 or more weeks. Then taper off safely the valium at 10% reduction per week until 50%, then slow down to 5 % per week. It will take 24 or more weeks depending on how you feel. If you have lots of withdrawal symptoms, then slow down or hold for a while at the existing dose until symptoms subside, then continue to taper. If withdrawal symptoms are really bad, go back to your original dose slowly in 3 to 7 days. Always reduce slowly or increase slowly. Don’t do it abruptly as you may have bad withdrawal symptoms. Never overdose. I came off all benzo and AD in 2006 after 1 year on them with minimum withdrawal symptoms after 2nd attempt using Ashton Manual. If you need help, join FB group, New BenzoIsland, using food as medicine, no meds.

It's unfortunate we even have to be here. SSRIs did nothing for me, im more scared of an antipsychotic than a benzo. It truly is all about body chemistry. The issue here is scary. Starting someone on 6mg is way too high. If they are going to give someone benzos, at least do the longer acting Benzos. Im so sorry, to hear about everything that happened to you. I too hope i am one day in a better place, where I can stop taking them.

I feel if doctors would give Klonopin or Valium, the withdrawal and the issues would not be as bad. It's crazy that they started you on 6mg. That seems completely irresponsible. I'm down to 0.75 of Klonopin a day. I will say Klonopin does help me when nothing has. But I am still trying to get away from the medication
@squamish4244 Жыл бұрын
That is a very high dose. The reason such a high dose was prescribed is because Xanax wears off so quickly. All benzos have high addictive potential, but Xanax may be the worst due to its short duration of action and the need to take it three or four times a day if your anxiety is bad enough. Good lord, the ignorance - and laziness, and arrogance - of these doctors. And when you show up addicted, they can't google and find out what to do or that you should never cold turkey etc. Googling takes time, and it's not their job to research how to help you...actually, it is their job. Especially for what they rake in every year.
