Ironically "good enough" in of itself is not good enough when it comes to music especially as an indie artist. if he has any intention of being successful then he needs to put more effort into his music and especially his singing since he does not have the luxury of hiding behind good production like other kpop idols from big companies. The fact that he did it by himself cannot be used as a crutch to hide the mediocrity that is this song. It is commendable yes but it does not hide the fact that the singing by itself is not up to par with average vocalists. I usually support indie artists as even though their budget might be smaller, the quality tends to be much higher than pop artists.

Beomhan, I hope you read this. The song isn’t horrendous like many have said. It’s not good, but it’s not terrible. I saw a lot of people say it’s bad and I just watched this, but it really isn’t all that bad. I was expecting something I can’t listen to at all. That wasn’t the case. If you did everything yourself when you’re inexperienced and don’t have much funds, then I think you did great! You should give yourself a credit for everything that you did. Remember this is just your debut. You still have some room to improve on. And I see your potentials. You can definitely do better than this. Keep in mind that not many people can get to your level without much support. Many artists tend to realize how much their agencies have done for them when they leave those agencies. You did all of this without an agency. Here are some things that I think you could do differently/improve on: Tbh I’ve never heard you sing or rap before, so idk your level of skills in rapping and singing. But from this song I would say that you’re not quite there with singing. Your vocal range isn’t very broad and it does sound a little uncomfortable while singing. I think you need to practice singing more stably, especially where the notes are higher. But I think the biggest thing that’s missing here is your emotions. You sound rather like a robot. You’re just singing. You need to sing more with emotions for the lyrics to deliver. Every single parts of your song (melody) and the lyrics have their own intentions. You’re lacking the emotions behind all of those details and that’s why the delivery is lacking. If you can sing with emotions this song will be so much better. But if you do want to sing like robot style and have auto tunes and all that, I think you need to listen to songs with those styles and study off of them. As for dancing you’re pretty good. But if you want to do even better I think you need to check your moves one by one for better precision. I also think you could make your moves a little bigger overall. Your emotions for dancing didn’t bother me like your singing did, but I think if you do think about all of the intentions behind the moves you’ll be an excellent dancer. Of rapping, dancing, and singing, I think you’re the best at dancing. For producing, many people were mentioning this but you could do better with mixing. I watched a video where they did the mixing for this song and that made the song sound so much better. Maybe do some research on mixing and producing in general. As I mentioned before I don’t think you’re much of a singer rn. For directions for your next song I do want to suggest you to go for something that suits your range better. Challenging yourself is great but you should develop yourself more before doing that. And so for the sounds and overall direction I think you could do something similar to stuff that Jackson Wang has done. I know your budget is limited and you might not be able to get to where Jackson is with his music. But I think you’re more of a rapper than a singer. Jackson does sing but he doesn’t like go high like you did in this song. I think your style suits Jackson’s kind of songs. You don’t need to copy like Jackson’s trademark low tones. I’m just saying go for rap, raspy (not necessarily low tone), singing rap(?), type of style. I hope you look into his music. This music video isn’t very high quality but it wasn’t bad. Some portions like the parts where the dancers appear one by one did seem a little off. It was good for something that was done independently. I’m guessing you spent some money for this. Fashion choices were great. Simple and neat. Lastly, here are some suggestions for you to get funds for your productions and to help you have a more solid fan base: First, I think you do already have a pretty good fan base. The views and number of subscribers are very high for something that was done independently. You’re kind of doing better than the artists from smaller companies actually. So what you can do to promote yourself more is what you’ve been doing. Try some TikTok challenges, do KZbin live streams, and all that fun stuff. But add like song and dance covers to your contents. This way your fans have stuff that they can stream, and you can try this and that for you to figure out what you do the best. These are great opportunities to sharpen your skills and receive some feedbacks. Do some producing here and there, release snippets to see how people react. Set up some donation stuff too. I’m no vocal teacher, producer, or anything, but I really think these things will really help you. And let me remind you again: you do have pretty good potentials. You already charmed so many people, you’re not quite there with your skills but you can always improve on them. I’m really sorry you had to go through so many things to debut as an idol. ok the songs not THAT bad, just a few things to point out: - his singing is from his throat, not chest. when you sing from your chest, it sounds fuller, and with a little editing, sounds so much more powerful - no layering has caused the song to sound empty - the constant echo causes the issues with the vocals to be highlighted even more - the key change is a little wack cuz its not done too subtly the song is awesome, when done right this would slap, amazing job doing this without the backing of a company beomhan!! so much potential and its awesome to this on your own!!

Being supportive ≠ positive criticism Y'all should be honest to Beomhan, so that he can improve and not embarrass himself. Don't lie to him, just so you don't hurt his feelings. The song isn't terrible, but it's far from good. He needs to work on his singing a LOT if he wants to be a singer. Whoever says otherwise is simply lying. But he can dance well. And it's impressive that he did this all alone.
