I own the Theatre myself since recently and I think it is a leading product. However, I also own two Beolab 5's since 15 years, and recently each one became faulty (in both one of the 1000W amps failed). B&O supplied refurbished electronic modules for about 10% of the speakers new purchase price (around 2.5K). However, thereafter it was no longer possible to store the speakers preset volume. It turned out that the speakers modules were replaced by a Mark 1 module in one case and by a Mark 2 in the other case. Apparently these are not compatible, and they also look quite different to each other, even at first glance by a non-expert. What a mess, and in addition the repair works took alltogether about ONE YEAR! This way the speakers have now also lost most of their resale value. If I wanted to sell them now I would loose several thousand dollars/euros/francs. Not only did I spend substantial money for the repair, but also did I loose even more money by a totally incompetent repair supplying incompatible Mark 1 or 2 units. Due to that the speakers have become more or less worthless! Both speakers went back again to B&O recently, on repair warranty, and I am waiting for a solution. I will be waiting for another half year probably, from my previous experienc. B&O is making industry leading products, but their repair service is a disaster.

B&O are excellent. Nice system. Very neat. I am trying to convert my systems to wireless, as well. Moi, downstairs great room home theater is all RSL (a speaker design company from the 70s and 80s in Los Angeles which was bought out in 1989 - the company revived itself in the 20 teens as a home theater speaker company. It was so successful back in the day, that JBL sued them, but lost). I have a mixed system of their legacy speakers from the 80s and their current line up. Still saving up for their speed woofer. The master bedroom set up is all Martin Logan. I find Martin Logan's folded tweeter a very clean sound. But, the subwoofer is Klipsch. The sound room has all legacy from a Marantz 2270 from the 70s to old ESS Heil air motion speakers and two Dual turntables. Nice to see you again, btw, My success is progressing nicely, thanks to your kind words and encouragement.

Nice Ethan, looks like a very serious system! Do you have any tracks with kick ass recording quality to show off your system yet? I know everything sounds better on these types of audiophile systems (I have a system with many component parts, Cambridge Audio, etc). As an ex-musician myself, I know that the studio engineer needs to be just as talented/knowledgeable/skillful as any musician to get truly great sound. A couple of tracks with great sound engineers: You and your friend - Dire Straits Birds - Dominique Fils-Aimé Terre - Michel Jonasz Witchcraft - Ben L'Oncle Soul These aren't 'noisy' songs, so you can turn up the volume and hear all the subtleties. If you like these I have plenty more! 😆

Does the remote control have a backlight? Even though it looks very sleek I'm thinking it might be a little too slick. Having all them little buttons so close to one another, how practical is it.

Hi Ethan, Thanks for the review. Is your Theatre gold, or reflecting the warm tones of your cabinet? I went with silver and oak after deciding whether to go with silver and dark oak. The interesting thing I find with the Theatre that you can add so many more speakers if you so choose. At the moment, I am using it as a dolby soundbar with no additional speakers attached to it. I have other beolabs in another room so will give them a try. I enjoy the convenience of the on device controls and the ability to set the my buttons on the device to short cut to your favourite station, etc. Congrats, and I'm sure you are enjoying this just a bit more than your previous solution of the NAD and Transmitter Regards Michael.

Huge congrats! I bought my 17’s in 2014, 19 in 2016 and 18’s in 2018. I have been waiting soooo long for the Theatre and it absolutely doesn’t disappoint! So nice to see you have a wonderful setup as well. Just one thing. Is your TV mounted directly onto the theatre? If so, I believe you need a different foot for the Theatre. Not trying to be an ass or anything noisy don’t want your tv and Theatre toppling over 😊

You can't put it on top of the Theatre unit. My TV is attached to the wall but you can also buy a stand from B&O that allows you to mount it on top of the theatre
