I'm just starting to teach my English IV students 'Beowulf', and this is blowing their minds! I love hearing it spoken in the original language; it's amazing how very different modern English is. Thank you very much for your recording!

Hi, great stuff! I love hearing it spoken. I am teaching myself Old English from textbooks, so hearing it aloud really helps me. Thanks for doing these, please do more!

I just wondered how the pronunciation for this text would be in original language. I have the book but would be kind enought to tell me where can I download more material? Thanks a bunch!

@Ari Koivouren Brights OE grammar and reader is good. Im also working through Mark Atherton's Complete OE. It has sound samples of him and a woman speaking the unit's text, so that is helpful.

Hi, Russ--good to hear from you! One more bit today, then perhaps more if people seem to like this kind of reading (i.e. not sung, not particularly dramatic, but with an emphasis on correct pronunciation and meter).
@russelljenkinsfearn4 жыл бұрын
@@oldenglishreadings3531 it's exactly right for me. Singing it with the lyre is next level, but I would want to know the correct pronunciation before I did that in public.
