Oh yeah.. Berastagi also hv so many stret food, restaurant and cafe. So many panoramic coffee shop, chinese food and Babi Panggang Karo (BPK). For me dinner at Kalang Ulu hotel is the best (not only for quest) (cafe style with live band). You should visit Gundaling Farmstead also

Have you all tried the persimmon grown in the vicinity of Brastagi sold in the Pasar Buah? Sweetest in the world. Better than Korean and Australian. They cover it with serbuk kapur to prevent flies to poke into the fruit. Pasar Buah is also a place to buy Harumanis and Manalagi mangoes too. Apokat (avocado), strawberry and buah salak were so damn cheap. 2009 I visited Medan and Brastagi. There was no bridge built to Samosir Island then. Roads in Medan full of potholes. And Medan Airport got no conveyor belt! Was very backward then.
@UncleLeeAdventures Жыл бұрын
Will need to try the persimmon next time… and yes, new bridge👍🙏 I think Medan changed a lot in the last 10 years… lady boss says it improved a lot since her last visit there during the early 90s.

What a nice vacation. This tour guide looks quite genuine too. But, just asking, did this tour guide take you to tourist traps for shopping then make commission like many other guides do? Do guides like him expect a tip? If so what's the going rate?
@UncleLeeAdventures Жыл бұрын
The tour guide was awesome… no, didn’t bring us to tourist traps. The itinerary is in the description of this video. As for the tip, it’s not included in package price. I always feel that tipping is really up to individuals and I don’t know what’s the market rate for it. For me, tipping is very personal and I enjoyed his company, enthusiasm and also appreciate his hard working nature and safe driving. I tipped him RM300 at the end of the trip.. maybe a lot but I want to make it memorable for him as he was with me entire 5D/4N and he had to be away from his family while driving us around.
@legambaz Жыл бұрын
@@UncleLeeAdventures Good to know. Maybe it's just my luck that we didn't find my guides in the past that great. Reasons for us no buying any tour packages from any agency for the longest time. But I can see the advantage of using a good agency in this case as places you've been and seen aren't widely publicized, and they are enjoyable.

It's ur preference uncle. But i think travelling to Medan just like us from Medan to penang or KL. No need tour guide, just rent a car with driver. so you can eat anywhere recommended food. No needed to eat at hotel's restaurant. If you don't know where to eat/to go, just googling and ask local people
@peterwu1318 Жыл бұрын
Maybe for next time. At Parapat, there's Hongkong restaurant (also others chinese restaurant) and Damasus (batak restaurant). At samosir only missed pizza. And also Siantar city (before Parapat) so many delicious food like " Mie pangsit Aon, babi panggang 88, roti ganda, Kok Tong coffee shop, etc. At Medan, so many Delicious and famous food but for RM. Simpang Tiga, i think Gumarang better. More famous and crowded. Ucok durian is famous but so expensive. Indonesia durian can't compare with musang king. Malaysia durian is the best of all durian, but if you eat Indonesia local durian with much cheaper than musang king maybe still worth it. (25k-50k IDR)
@legambaz Жыл бұрын
@@peterwu1318 Thanks for the intro. Would definitely keep all these recommended places in mind.
