Oh god this actually blew up. Alright so i admit that the thumbnail was a bit misleading since i didnt mention Pacifist route, i assumed that everyone have known about it ( or atleast have watched playthroughs ) so i didnt mention it to save time, and have more time discussing. I made this video when i was about to sleep, never thought it would catch this much attention, sorry again if the thumbnail got you curious and the video didnt show what you wanted to see, however i'm certain that it showed exactly what you get in those routes, i hope i have made myself clear enough. What? You got an ad in this video? Probably because of [Hyperlink-Blocked] Bu$ine$$, guys i don't want your money i swear, why am i suddenly getting col- Anyways you don't need to subscribe cuz the contents of this channel are a mess vary from time to time. Bonus on how to save Berdly: If you attack him in the first battle on roller coaster (Kris & Susie & Ralsei vs Berdly), he wont get hurt in any way, as you only attack his car. In the second battle ( Kris & Noelle vs Berdly ), choose "ACT" and choose "Playsmart", Berdly will gradually realize that Kris and Noelle aren't weak and propose to fight some times later. In the third battle, or "battle in the castle", Berdly will be controlled by the queen, so you must rescue him by "ACT", i usually choose "grouploosen" as it gurantees the percent of sucessfully loosening Berdly, you can choose other options if you like, however some have reported that Berdly still loses his arm even when you try to save him, my answer on this is maybe you must do it on time, before the queen runs out of drinks. Edit: Well, during the battle in the Mansion, Queen uses acid to build a big shield and you can't loosen the plug or attack directly, so yeah you have to [Grouptoast] ( or use Rudebuster for faster ), and then try to loosen the plug again when the shield is down. Respond if it something goes weird again lol. English is not my main language, and as i said i made this video when about to sleep so grammar mistakes were inevitable, hope you won't be bothered much. The thumbnail was remade to satisfy some people who complained it being spoilers, did anyone get forced to cencor Spamton or secret Deltarune contents on their thumbnails few days ago lol?

Something's ...off about this "dead" berdly. Monsters normally turn into dust after being killed. This reminds of something that is undertale that i believe is only mentioned in the true lab. The "Fallen down" state. Which i think when monsters are in the fallen down state they are *close to death* and *unconscious.* I think Berdly might be in this state. It's like coma.

Well, it seems that the damage taken is messed with slightly. When his arm got turned into crispy crispy chicken in the Dark World, he found it was immobile after they woke up. So I think that when Berdly died, he "fell down" in the Library.

Something I noticed is that when the plug explodes, Queen uses exclamation marks as she yells, when she normally uses no punctuation. It goes to show just how much she freaked out.

Yeah, Queen doesn't _actually_ want anyone to get hurt. She just thinks she knows what's best for everyone, and that she needs to use force to make it happen. She's understandably horrified when she realizes a lightner might get permanently injured because of her actions.

It doesn't matter if Noelle or Berdley are dead or not in the end, because they're powerful lightners but they're not the chosen heroes. Kris, Ralsei and Susie will fight the roaring. And no matter what happens, they'll be the ones saving the world.

Idk, when a monster dies, it turns into dust. Berdly, as you can see, didn't turn into dust. I think he is in a comatose state. Plus he's the only one that doesn't turn in to ice, he gets buried in it, like a coffin. I think that he's still alive but he is frozen in the ice block Noelle made, and since the dark world he was frozen in doesn't exist anymore he can't be freed from it.

Oh yeah, It's mentioned at the entry number 6 on the true lab, it only happens if the monster dies of natural causes. Since Berdly died in another world, I'm pretty sure It will end up counting as natural causes on the real world and he will be turning to dust on chapter 3 :( That's just my guess.

Monsters clearly don't work the same way in Deltarune. They seem to lack magic (or at least haven't been showing using it), and Susie comments in Chapter 1 "Everybody bleeds" Which wouldn't be true if they worked by Undertale rules, since monsters (Sans Sans [lul]) DON'T bleed, they turn into dust. Darkners also seem to bleed as evidenced by Lancer having a bucket to "put the blood in" after thrashing you despite this being his first interaction with Lightners, and the inaccessible death animation that occurs when you use Snowgrave on normal enemies.

@@SSL_2004 I think it's not a matter of monster and humans, but rather, a matter of lightners and darkners. The reason why Sans doesn't turn to dust is because he's a lightner and he's from another world, somehow getting stuck in a dark world without a dark fountain (probably has something to do with Gaster?) Remember how Sans can appear at random locations in the game seemingly instantly? His room's doors are identical to the dimensional doors that Kris uses for backtracking in locations of both chapter 1 and 2... Undertale was a Deltarune for Sans but he lost the ability to save when Gaster "fell into his creation" and was erased from existence in that world. This is what Sans meant when he said he doesn't belong there and that he tried for so long to leave without sucess. But hey, that's just my theory.

I feel like the dark world is a state of fiction being blurred into reality, why does Lancer become a card in the light world? Berdly’s arm was completely fried in the dark world but only paralyzed in the light world without anything that could have hinted to the cause of injury. I believe that there are 2 separate bodies, one for the dark world, and one for the light world, and when the dark world body loses a limb, their soul basically loses their control over that limb. I think that whenever a human or monster goes into the dark world, their light world body goes into a state of essentially a temporary coma, because their soul was yoinked out of the light world body and put into the dark world body, my theory for kris pulling out his soul is that maybe like Jevil, light world Kris was met by the W. D. himself, as we never see dark world kris pulling out his soul.

Small theory about Berdly in the Genocide/SnowGrave route. In Undertale, when doing the True Pacifist route (and you're in the True Lab), it's stated that the monsters who had 'Fallen Down' and were brought to the lab were in a comatose state. It's possible that something similar may be happening with Berdly; while the Snowgrave move is described as *Fatal.* in-game, we don't actually know if we end up /killing/ Berdly. However, considering how he's seen slumped over at the desk when we return to the real world, it can be assumed that: A) Berdly's dead, and Noelle/Susie didn't know. B) He's in a state of permanent sleep/perma-coma. C) He's in a coma, but will soon die and turn to dust (assuming that still holds true for Monsters in Deltarune).

I don't think Ralsei can heal something that serious. The worse injury we've seen is Susie spraining her ankle. Berdly's arm got fried (no pun intended) and broken. We 100% know that depleting a health bar in the darkworld doesn't mean death, or even close to it seeing as enemies can still full sprint away. So I doubt anyone's been seriously hurt in combat either.

I get the feeling that even after learning Berdly's backstory, people would still be included to hate on him. For me, I'm incredibly hesitant... Like, I'll still call on him when he's being annoying or stepping out-of-line, but at least I'm not as willing to say he just sucks as I used to. Even a smug jerk like him has his reasons for acting that way. He's a person (or monster, whatever), just like any of the other characters in this game ...But even setting all that aside, as annoying and seemingly egotistical as he was, Berdly was never a character that I felt deserved death, which is why killing him, either through the normal route or the "Weird Route" comes off as so chilling (unintentional Snowgrave reference aside); a supporting character has been killed off, which only makes me wonder, if this game only has one ending, how is this going to affect the rest of the game, and for that matter, was Berdly's life ever really that important in the grand scheme of things if he can be killed off and the story outside the dark world progresses like normal without him? I'm sure these will be addressed in chapter 3 onward, but still... Holy crap, dude. On a separate note, I did the pacifist angle, so I didn't know what would happen if you actually attacked Queen. Seeing Berdly willingly sacrifice his arm getting the plug off of him to stand up to Queen... Well, my respect for him went up seeing that.

They didn't check, but I don't think he died, when a monster die they become dust, and any type of "brain death" or something like that should count as death... And that that "fallen" state that is mentioned in undertale happend when a monster has given up by sickness or something else, and if you pay attention when in the neutral ending he check his arm he never mentioned that he don't feel it, he just can't move it. Considering that his whole body got "distroyed" he can't move it but he still thinking (Sorry for the -999 level of english)

We don't really know if the same rules apply to DeltaRune, and considering that even the SAVE screen and action menus look different between games, it's safe to say that the rules of death are most likely different. So Berdly may very well be almost COMPLETELY brain dead, and can only breathe. Also if I recall correctly it's also stated that if a monster is near death they will enter a deep slumber, so again it's all just superstitions and guesses since we have no true way to kill anyone, since we technically *can't* kill anyone so far.

So in the genocide route his entire body may be paralyzed as well and he's in a coma, which he may never wake up from considering they sealed the library's fountain. Let me say, the neutral ending is really chilling to get on your first playthrough. I had been trying to kill Queen and save Berdly at the same time, and I guess i killed Queen first because I didn't realize there was a different outcome to it. I thought Berdly fried his arm no matter what happened. I had been playing with a friend, and we were both shocked at what happened. And then i played snowgrave with that same friend, and after killing Berdly, we realized that he was going to be actually dead. Berdly really does not have a good time if it isn't pacifist.

i imagine its because he is a lightner. darkners seem like monsters from undertale they have very little determination and can be dusted by snowgrave while berdly cannot and they have graves for there dead in the lightners world but not the darkners world

The fact that your actions actually alter the fate of one character this heavily makes me think that, so that writing the rest of the game isn't too complicated, Berdly won't be too relevant in future chapters. Like in the Telltale Walking Dead games. And that makes me sad.

Or. Theres one ending, but many many paths to said ending. It is not impossible for you to vary things. After all, you changed the ending in Chapter 1 depending on hostility and sparing. But in Chapter 2 you literally hire people to go to your castletown AND you kill a student. Now, let me ask. If there is one ending and this drastic of a change can occur... What is going to happen in the end? Because... This will be very... very interesting... What do you think? Dark, Darker, Yet Darker. Don't forget, this is not a sequel.

I guess you could visit Berdley at the hospital in chapter 3, and he can be sleeping, healing his arm, or proudly telling you that he hurt himself doing something stupid. Other characters will be used for the main cast of chapter 3 and he'll be useful in later chapters

I had heard about this scene but did not know how genuinely dark it was until I played it. Queen breaking into panic and concern for him for the first time in the game, his arm being blackened afterward, the fact that he can’t move it in the light world, it’s so dark. All of the horrible shit in this chapter happens to poor Burghley.

A part of me doesn't want snowgrave to be cannon because berdly's awesome and i feel bad for noelle, but MY GOD would it be so interesting if it was. Whoa, I did NOT know about the arm thing!!! Stuff like this really makes me wonder how this is going effect chapter 3 onward, if at all? Of course it's very hard to predict what will come next after that bombshell of an ending, but let's assume it still starts out like an average day in the Lightner World. If it's still in a normal classroom setting, how is someone with no chapter 2 completion data going to go through chapter 3 if Berdly makes an appearance? Will he be fine, hurt, fallen down or worse?

I think the fact that we have multiple save files is really telling of just how massive this project is going to be, with so many different angles. It seems to me as if Toby is really blowing this out of the water! It's going to be enormous. Save 1 (Pacifist): Story progressed based on Berdly being fine. Save 2 (Neutral): Story progressed based on Berdly's injured arm. Save 3 (Snowgrave): Story progressed based on Berdly being dead, braindead or comatosed.

as someone who got all the enemies recruited so that i didnt regret it later and got the pacifist ending, it relieves me that ALL this, didn't happen. i think the worst thing i did was spook noelle with the mice but she later learned to think they were cute and no longer feared them so i guess that was positive. :) berdly ended up fine. (thank goodness)

How do you know you recruited everyone and there’s no one left? You have to do this in chapter one as well? Or if you start a new chapter, the game treats it as you spared everyone?

@@heitorzincleiton5071 I had wondered about this too, but yesterday I watched a streamer (Ranboo, if you’re curious) play all of Chapter 2 on stream, and I guess he missed some recruits, because when he went back to Castle Town at the end, Queen immediately asked where Nubert was, only to be told he wouldn’t come if everyone wasn’t coming. If you have Nubert in your town, I guess you’re good to go.

Not gonna lie, I found funny how I didn't recruit anyone, and when queen got to the town, she was shocked at the thought of she being alone there. Ralsei's kindness become more of a punishment

What Kris and Susie go through in the dark world are actually real events so it's only natural they'd carry into the real world as well. Even if other people lose their memories or cast it off as a dream, they still happen. But, making Noelle kill Berdly. I can only imagine the guilt she felt when she woke up and realized the truth

Remember people, monsters who’s bodies aren’t too damaged enter a “Fallen Down” state before they die. If you do the Snowgrave route, Berdly is most likely dead. Period. He’ll turn to dust eventually on his own, it just takes some time.

Also remember, this isn't quite undertale, so deltarune rules might work different. Monsters could instead turn into a corpse, since this is deltarune.

Otherwise, why would susie mention casting magic in the darkworld as a bonus after the queen fight? Since monsters can be assumed to not be made of magic in this sense, then it's unlikely they still become dust.

yup but sadly this isnt undertale toby already said so we have no idea if lightners even dust we know darkners do because you can hack snowgrave onto normal enemies and they dust but berdly doesnt

Keep in mind that Dess and many other townspeople have disappeared near potential dark fountains to never be seen again. This seems to prove characters can be killed or permanently incapacitated in dark worlds. After all, Noelle and gang never went looking for Dess, they just seem too traumatized to talk about what happened. That sounds pretty permanent, not a good sign for our victims. It also supports Ralsei’s argument that continued interaction between the worlds could lead to mass destruction.

And the flavor text by the closet detailing how its space is so conveniently "body shaped" doesn't bode well for Snowgrave Berdly's slouched over self --

That could also be it. But it said it could fit a "large person" inside. My theory is that the knight opened the dark fountain in the closet, because when we woke up noelle and berdly were already sitting down, they didnt fall once they entered, so the dark fountain was forming when they were inside the lab. Same thing with Kris and Susie, because they didnt fall instantly, instead it looked like the floor fell beneath them, so the fountain was still forming when they entered. So, i think that the computer lab closet was first used as a hideout for the knight, and then as a way to hide berdly.
