I am sorry it took so long for me to respond....and just saying I came up with the melting of the pencil waxes myself....Hubby Does NOT color. The coloring of any kind that needs to be done, if ever, is all me. I have been coloring since before kindergarten so I have gotten good at it. Now to answer your ??, it will depend on just how much wax is included in the pencils "lead" color because it needs at least some wax or other meltable ingredient so that it will melt enough when exposed to a high temperature. I do hope This gives you the answer you needed. Keep Coloring to bring all colors to the world and help people Smile more. :)

Wow aren't you one lucky girl having such a talented hubby who can make things like that! Jealous? Well yeah, obviously, but in the nicest possible way. Please tell hubby I am so impressed with his amazing handiwork. In also impressed with your huge supply of coloured pencils. I'm so new to all this adult colouring but 2 Christmasses ago, I got a 72 set of Prismacolors. Then 3 months ago I had enough to treat myself to the wonderful 150 set of Prismacolors. I've got a few really cheap ones, but I'd not use them really. I started using only gel pens, but haven't touched them since I got my Prismacolors. Good on you for having such a huge collection of pencils and also for your talented hubby. You must make a great pair - both being into crafty stuff. I'll be checking out your videos now I've found you. Take care. 👍

Yeah it's a tough one between organising brands or colours. I prefer to keep brands together personally as I don't often mix brands when working on a piece of art. I do however like to order the pencils in a graduating colour spectrum kinda thing whenever I am being extra OCD :)

Haha yes, I tend to put the smaller pencils in the space at the front. Thing is, the lengths are always changing and I like to keep them in sets, so I couldn't really effectively use a separate section for short ones. I just fit them in as best I can :)

Oh My Goodness! I honestly thought that in this day and age of computerized Everything, that there would be no one else besides me that enjoys the collecting of colored pencils, be it polochromos, prisma color watercolor, raffine color, Crayola's or even the more inexpensive royal langnickel. Yes, I have purchased all of them, and yes in smaller packs but I do have them, but I have no where to put them except to keep them in their original packing to keep them safe from cracking. Although, if they should "crack" I know how to repair them: place them in a paper towel and microwave them for about 8 to 10 seconds. When you remove them from the microwave, stand them straight up so that the color can settle to the bottom and become whole again, and then wait about 5-10 minutes to the pencil to cool completely. You may then sharpen it carefully and slowly just in case some fo the core is still a little soft. That is how I remove the cracks from my pencils, no matter how inexpensive to expensive they are, and it works every time for me. Give it a try. Lu. :)
@designsofluid83087 жыл бұрын
You most definitely are not the only one! I collect all sorts of art materials and stationery... I just love it all! Great tips about how to fix cracks - thanks! Wouldn't have thought it would work with cheaper ones so that's good to know!

Do you already have a video reviewing all the brands in your collection? This video was weirdly soothing and made me want to go outside and purchase half of the art supply store. It is so awesome you have that many good quality color pencils!
@designsofluid83088 жыл бұрын
Hi Myrest, glad you found the video soothing! I haven't yet done my reviews but am planning to do so soon! I have collected these pencils over a good 20 years or so- some were gifts, some were purchased second hand and some bought in the sales. I am hoping to improve my colour pencil techniques and use them a lot more in the future - especially as I have discovered I like using them over alcohol markers! Are there any particular reviews or comparisons you want to see first? :)
@myrest33348 жыл бұрын
Beret Nice Honestly, of your entire collection the only pencils I own were the Faber Castell ones, the scholar type, and I find them pretty meh. But all of those you show in the video... man, I personally don't like color pencils (I'm more of a watercolor person), but I would love to see what are your favorites to recommend. Thanks for replying!

Could you provide you hubby's plans or instructions? I'm wondering if my hubby could make one for me too! Is there a reason you decided not to make them just the depth of your pencil?
@designsofluid83088 жыл бұрын
I'm afraid he didn't have any plans for it as he was working it all out as he went along, trying new techniques and figuring out issues as they came up. We decided the depth because the Ikea chopping boards we used for the outer box were that size already, plus it's handy to have extra space for pencils along the front or swatch strips to help me select colours :)
@wendyrock63098 жыл бұрын
Wow, you filled all of the drawers! As your video started, I was trying to decide how I would organize, by brand or color? If I was lucky enough to have the set of drawers, I would probably try both ways. When you do reviews, I would be interested in what set you would recommend for people just starting to draw. I have always wanted to draw but never found the time till now. Thanks for sharing. 👩🏻🎨
@designsofluid83088 жыл бұрын
Hi Wendy, I will definitely order them by sets and within the sets I will organise them into colour progressions. I didn't do that in the video as it would take me too long, but I may do another video for that as I want to swatch them all too. Thanks for the question re: reviews, I'll keep that in mind!
@wendyrock63098 жыл бұрын
Beret Nice Hello! I have decided to learn how to draw and have been watching several KZbin videos. I really enjoy your channel. I am beginning to understand that there are different types of colored pencils like ones that are more waxed based. When you draw, do you mix brands? If so, would you organize your pencils by color, for example all the red pencils in one drawer, blues in another, etc?
