Beretta 1301 vs Benelli M4

I have the 1301. It is definitely the sweetest auto shotgun I’ve ever shot. It has been totally reliable and surprisingly lightweight. The recoil feels light to me after shooting pumps my whole life.

The LE version has the 7-shot tube installed and the adjustable stock. My model is the 11715. I also have the 1301 LTT and the m4 is still the king for me and my money. With that said, both are just excellent! PS: Nice measured content!

LE H2O is SICK! 🤠 Benelli M4 recoils more like an AK than a shotgun, the cycling speed is nicely controlled.

A hiccup says it all. Especially under stress. I prefer the 1301 pistol grip . Like a surgical instrument , controllable at least for me to feel comfortable when pushed with emotional stress.

I have the 1301 tac LE mod 2. Didn't think I would like the Mesa tactical pistol grip stock at first, but it grew on me. Put on a Briley hand guard, inforce light, and a Holosun HE510c green dot, and started practicing. Speed and control on target came quickly. No malfunctions and I've ran everything through it. This thing is a destructive Brute and fun to shoot.

I have many shotguns. I have both the Benelli M4 and Berretta 1301. You can't go wrong with either. I prefer my Benelli M4 with upgrades over my 1301 it's just a better gun with the upgrades. But the cost with the upgrades cost much more. The 1301 I didn't have to upgrade anything! I probably would recommend the 1301 over the M4 if someone was going to buy between the two. However, you don't need more than the Beretta 300A Ultima Patrol that gun is really good and for the price. Its right there! However If I could only have one shotgun, It wouldn't be either of these. The Genesis 12 SBM is by far the best shotgun I own. The Genesis 12 is so far superior in every catagory it's not even close! In the end I look at my shotguns, I love them, I'm a shotgun guy but my home defense firearm is my 300 blackout with suppression. I'm not sure my ears could hand my shotguns in my house but i would have my shotguns ready if needed.

The Benelli M4 has less recoil over the 1301. It has more weight to the rifle. It’s also law enforcement, and combat proven.

Both are great shotguns with self cleaning and self adjusting designs. Both can shoot low recoil loads of 1 1/8 ounce @1250 fps. The Beretta’s advantage is it’s lighter weight for easier all day carry without fatigue even with 18 rounds on board. Thanks for a great video.

I have owned both of these shotguns and I believe that gives me a really good perspective on which is better. I have put a lot of rounds through both as love shooting scatter blasters. In my very informed opinion I think the M4 is better everywhere but weight. The Beretta is also shorter, it really doesn’t feel like an 18 inch barrel. I have the le M4 model so it has the telescopic stock and with it in the middle position they are close to the same. Both have been very reliable, Benelli is more reliable with low brass after a few k break in.

I disagree, the m-4 can be outshot so, basically you can pull the trigger faster than it will cycle. That’s a no-go from the start.

Great comment! Overall weight, balance and recoil with lower recoil loads is what makes the Beretta easier for all day carry and use. Very few Tactical Shotgun Competitors are running the M4 by comparison to the 1301.

Fixed bore is usually the LE (Law Enforcement) model. I bought one by accident, as I wanted the Optima HP Choke system so I could swap out chokes. Fortunately I caught the mistake before I recieved delivery on the shotgun.

I bet the M4 was run dry, not lubed, which is probably why it had a few jams.

I hear that but I was severely disappointed with all the polymer on the 1301 for the price. Swapped it out for an M4 with metal parts

Why don't you compare m4 with the latest version of 1301 mod2? Also you have a 1301 LE version with a fixed bore , but they have versions with chokes.

I’m surprised there was no mention of the better controls and loading on the Beretta. If you’re actually getting one of these for any kind of defense then this matters big time. In my experience, the Benelli loading port is a cheese grater for my hands. Beretta for me was so much faster on operating and reloads.

I don’t have a 1301 but I do have the A300 and the Benelli M4. Supposedly the 1301 has less recoil than the A300 but the A300 has slightly less recoil than the M4.

What would you guys do if you were in my shoes? I can get a new 1301 ultima patrol for ~1000 or can buy a used benelli m4 from my local gun store for 1150(seems like it's in great shape!). Was planning on the 1301 until this little opportunity fell into my lap. Would appreciate any advice🫡

I have always tried to avoid used guns. You NEVER know what the previous owner or owners did to it. Split the difference and get a new 1301 tactical or LTT. The 1301 is a much better and more refined than the fine a300 Ultima Patrol. How about this? Save your bucks a bit longer and get a real Benelli m4.

The Benelli M4 has a softer recoil compared to the 1301. Why? Because it is slightly heavier. The Benelli M4 is Police, government and combat proven. The Beretta is not.

Yes, sir! Take them both and side by side retract the bolt handle and let it fly. Then tell me which makes you more confident. To me, the 1301 sounds tinny, and the m4 had heavy metal parts moving that inspire confidence. Just me! I have both. I use both. I trust both. If I could have only one it would be the m4 LE for me!!!!

Buy the M4 now because that’s a great deal and you won’t run across them that cheap. You can always get an A300 or 1301 later.

1301 runs ANYTHING in terms of ammo and never fails! I can't say the same about the M4--too finiky. For a tactical SG, I'll take reliability before anything else.

Mod 2 1301 has the optima hp choke system, pro lifter, ultima forend , etc. he forgot to mention the rotating bolt, chrome lined receiver, tri alloy barrel and forcing cone…definitely an M4 fanboy video lol

I have both and the M4 is much lighter recoil. The 1301 is lighter and fast though.

The M4 is a better combat shotgun. The Benelli is a better multi purpose shotgun, including home defense. Shotguns in general are not as good as rifles. I’ve seen three people walk it off after being tagged with double buck. They weren’t even out of the fight, just hurt. Lacks penetration.
