Hi LIoyd, that's a great review and helped enormously when looking for a new gun. I went to the gun room at Bywell on Wednesday and tried every gun I had researched. After much deliberation and great advice from the gun room staff, I settled for the 694. Once we had settled on the 30" barrel length, fitting the appropriate chokes and setting up the comb to my facial profile, we took it for a test shoot and I fell in love with it. Not only did I like it, but the friend I took along ended up buying one as well. Well done to all who helped us in the gun room at Bywell. We are back next week for a lesson with our new guns!

Great review, thanks a lot. I was one of the first to lay hands on Beretta 694 sporting in india, back in Nov. Prior to this i was shooting 686 Gold, so for me it was definitely a big upgrade :). I have put about 500 through it. Its a smasher, you jst need to reach the target and its blast, no chips, total smack it. I am using Olympia Trap, which is pretty average ammo, but the results are very good. Another fellow shooter got the trap model for his son, and he jst scored his best of 112, he is 14yr. He has shot 25 quite a few times, prior to this he was using 692 black. Consistent feedback is it definitely handles much better, recoil is better. Patterns are very good. Even the wood we found is better what we had got on few 692s here. Only hickup and that was damn disappointing was that in mine, 2nd barrel was not getting engaged all the time. I opened it and inspected it to find that inertia block was facing some resistance while sliding over the back of the hammer, i filed it a bit and now its perfect. But i never expected that from Beretta. Beretta will sell a lot of these for sure. Its complete adjustable with weights, adjustable trigger pull and stock.

Wish I could hold and try both, but alas...can't do that for either. Welcome to the supply shortage...I currently shoot a Benelli Super Sport semi-auto, 28 inch barrel, 49.5 inches overall length. I'm 5 ft. 11 inches, 185 pounds. I know this is probably a stupid question and if I was only able to hold, mount, and try each one life would be so much easier.....Love your site, BTW.

Great review Lloyd however it's left me more confused than ever. I've just obtained my license after a good few months and lessons at a local clay ground and will be heading up to Bywell to purchase my first gun. I started looking at the usual 525 and silver pigeon but then the 525 laminate caught my eye and I've increased my budget as I would rather buy once and have it last me. Question is ignoring fit etc would something like the 694 or ProSport be wasted in my hands or would they be able to see me throughout my shooting career, or I should I stick to the lower end and upgrade in a few years if I feel the need to. I'm in love with the looks of the 694 and it is nice to have nice things. Keep up the good work !!

Coming from a sliver pigeon field 30” to a 694 I thought it would be a step up, the gun has convincing breaks when hitting the clays but I’m not sure what is going wrong. Very much enjoyed this video especially your question and answer session mid way through. It would have to be very good to be better than the Browning Pro Sport. I have mentioned before here that I own and love a Browning Ultra XTR which is 16 years old and just fabulous. The Pro Sport is the latest version of that line I suppose, though not a pure trap gun. How would you compare the 694 with the Browning XS Pro? A few months ago I bought a 692 and really don't like it. It is now up for sale. I found it vague in the shoulder department and bouncy at the front end. Nicely built and good quality but not for me. I bought it because I couldn't get my head around buying a DT11 at £6000++++. I have already replaced the 692 with a used UGB25 which is really extraordinary. I love it and have morphed seamlessly from the Browning (which is now my second choice) to the UGB. Beretta seem to have slotted beautifully into that mid market sector with the 694 and I for one cannot wait to get my hands on one for a try out. Good video Mr Pattison.

Lloyd pattinson The 694 ($7000au)is on my shortlist and my question is how much better is a Dt11 at double the price ($15000au). A krieghoff is also on the shortlist ($18000au) mainly because if I dont like it then its easier to trade down, i can stop working overtime lol. Krieghoffs are coming into this country next month, apparently there's been none for 3 years. Ps it's not easy getting hands on these here.

Hi Lloyd. I wondering how a new 694 compares to the Second hand DT10 X trap you reviewed a while ago. I am guessing about the same price. Which do you prefer?
@lloydyp
@lloydyp 4 жыл бұрын
Oof, I think it would very much depend on the condition of the DT10. If you can find a tight one that's been well looked after, in theory it would be cheaper and I would probably go that way. However there are a finite number of guns that are in that condition, and if you cant find one, a new 694 would be a great choice.

I think the 694 is one of the best handling guns in the under 5k price bracket, but it's my personal preference re weight / feel / gripstyle as an out of the box package. The presige isnt manufactured any more but brings a lot to the table in terms of adjustability and accessories. I think you need to shoot both and decide for yourself as I am guessing you are looking at a used Prestige which will be a big saving vs a new Beretta, and pick the one that fits you, and your budget better.
