No, they just resisted the stupid impulse to put an optic on a handgun. For competition, fine. But for EDC and defensive situations that typically occur within 7 feet? Optics are stupid.

By that same logic, having sights at all on a carry gun is stupid. Point shooting is faster and if you can't hit A zone from 7 yards and in, then your marksmanship is quite poor.

Sage Dynamics conducted a study on optics use on defensive handguns. Those with optics reported using their sights significantly more often than those with irons in force on force situations. They also had significantly higher center mass hit probability. Optics facilitate much easier target/threat focus. Instead of having to focus on your front sight, you can simply look at your target and the dot will appear where you are looking, all on one focal plane. Dots on defensive/edc guns provide a very worthwhile advantage. This is especially true now that durable enclosed emitter optics like the Steyr MPS, Aimpoint ACRO, and Holosun 509t are available.

@Hugo Stiglitz flat out wrong lol. I've carried a pistol with an optic for the last two years and put around 18000 rounds on a single Holosun 509t and it hasn't ever failed me.
