Funny. I get a a bunch of cerakote shops that reach out to me on this gun. It is a real PITA to work with. When I was an FFL I used to Cerakote a bunch of surplus 84s and 85s and got good at them.

this has been most helpful in reassembling the basically indentical trigger spring on my FN Browning BDA 380, which is the .380 version of the .32 caliber FN140DA, but made by berretta and sold under browning for the American market, discontinued in 1997, and is essentially a model 84 without the exposed barrel, and with a slide mounted safety/decocker instead of the usual frame mounted one. My spring came out the last time i was cleaning it and i havent been able to to figure out how to put it back in ever since, basically found next to zero info on it, just an unhelpful user manual, schematic with parts list, and a couple old forum posts that basically said let a gunsmith figure it out, along with complaining about how it was difficult to source these replacement springs even back then.

When I had my FFL and did Cerakote work, The Trigger spring on the Cheetah was a real PITA and was always happy when that was back in. I tried several tools to try to get that back in until I modified a free screwdriver that I got from a trade show. Personally, I think Beretta got sick of the trigger spring as well and that was why they discontinued it.

Greatly Appreciated. I believe that all gun owners should know this information (and then some) about each and every gun they own. I know it shouldn't be required by law in any way... but I think it should be a personal requirement of each person. We are responsible for our own firearms and their safety and reliability... so each person should know Precisely how his gun works, how to field strip, disassemble, function check, safety check and maintain each firearm owned. I've actually seen people modify their guns and/or holsters which caused negligent/accidental discharges... and then they STILL tried to blame and sue the gun manufacturer, as if it's somehow their fault that their guns go off when the trigger is pulled.

Found an "easier" way to do the trigger spring. I found that catching the lower coil in the trigger with a 1/16" punch first. This will allow some movement to the rear so you can then pull the spring back to get it captured in the takedown lever pin.

hay ive been looking around at BERETTA CHEETAH's. but i wanted to swap out a few parts looking at getting a used one, but then the idea of just building one came to mind do you think i could do this would it just cost more? i would for sure have a gunsmith check my work after but i just wanted to see what you thought thank you!
@TheRogueBanshee2 жыл бұрын
Usually building one is more expensive than buying one... but then again, I believe Beretta stopped importing them again. Not sure if you will find all the individual parts to build from scratch.

For liability reasons... the only thing I can say is, it was put there for a reason from the manufacturer. Thanks for watching!
@kylemiller66393 жыл бұрын
Seeking a repair opinion for my 84FS: the frame slide guide-rail on the left hand side just forward of the front straight-pin hole of the ejector has broken off from the slide-catch cut-out back to and including the front half of the straight-pin hole. (best seen at ~3:31) The straight-pin is still in place and the ejector seems only slightly misaligned. I have not attempted to fire weapon yet. The slide moves without impedance on field-stripping. Do you think this reparable or would frame have to be replaced? I’m guessing probably the worst case scenario unfortunately.
@TheRogueBanshee3 жыл бұрын
For liability reasons, I cannot give advice. However, if that were my gun, I would strip it for parts. That is some significant frame damage. I feel sorry for you. Thanks for watching and glad you like the video.
@RickJZ19733 жыл бұрын
Frame sounds like it is significantly damaged. Possibly, consider contacting Beretta. They may be able to replace it. If not, plenty of good parts within the frame.

Hi,... Great video, always enjoy your videos. Just bought a 82bb made in 1992. The hammer is a real bear to cock. I own 4 otner 80s series berettas and none are as difficult to bring the hammer back. As you know, this also makes the slide very hard to rack.... Is this common with this model? Gun runs fine.... And is in 32 auto.
