Let me start by saying i enjoyed your video, ive been intrested in the m 81 for a while, i considered purchasing through classic firearms do to the price , ive seen pics of Handguns from classic rusted and pitted , i decided to roll the dice and try Aim surplus, i paid 249 for the 81 BB, i received pistol In 3 days and the condition of the 81 was like brand new 95%, very happy with Aim surplus, will be doing business with them again, Koba thanks for tip on Aim.

I bought one figuring luck of the draw and mine was beautiful, I never pay for hand select, best 209 ever spent on a pistol

Koba- appreciate your attention to detail here. Definitely helped my decide which surplus model I would prefer. Thanks.

Very nice video highlighting the difference between the base model and the BB variant. I also obtained a BB variant from Aim Surplus. Very pleased with it. Phenomenal value for the money. Looking back on it, I should have purchased two of them. I own an 81 FS. Nice pistol. However, in my opinion, the 81 BB is the pinnacle of the design.

The Beretta Forum has an S.N. search under Handguns and FAQ. It even tells you the finnish, grips, and magazines it shipped with. They also have a cool picture thread for 80 & 90 series pistols.

Right next to the trigger guard you will find italian proof marks, i.e. AE on my 81, which indicates the year - date code AE = 1979

I got a first gen model 81 and I'm very happy with it, I'd rather have it without the fpb. I didn't choose hand select and got a very nice one, didn't opt for an extra magazine either which was a mistake

Hi Koba the difference about the firing pin on the 81bb is that it has a firing pin block.

If you haven't already figured it out, they have lettering corresponding with the year of manufacture, look on the right trigger guard a box with two letters that's the year, beretta has a chart mine is af which is 1980

@TheKoba495 жыл бұрын
@@roysotojr did not try it but I think they should be most of the changes between the models are internal
@roysotojr5 жыл бұрын
@@TheKoba49 ok, I was looking around for replacement grips and the 81BB was not specifically mentioned. Only 81 or 81F
@TheKoba495 жыл бұрын
@@roysotojr like I said the difference in the BB model is internal if there are separate grips for the 81F that means there were changes to the pistol that requires a different grip. 81 grips should work on the BB model, just order them from a place that will let you return them if they do not fit

I've just received a surplus Beretta 81 from AIM Surplus with some minor wear, but in otherwise great shape. Mine is the regular 81, not the BB model. Is it normal for this gun to have a dead trigger pull while the hammer is down? With the hammer cocked, the trigger operates normally.

well can't answer that the 81 was loaned to me by a friend to make the video

Doesn’t sound right unless the safety is on. It’s a da/sa I thought. I’ve got one ordered through Classic. I have a 84F in 380. Same gun more or less and the only time I have a dead trigger is with the safety on. You may want to google it if you want to fix it yourself, a lot of times it’s a simple fix or take it to a gunsmith. I would let you know more when I pick mine up from my ffl(they called today to let me know they have it) but it’s a BB also. I really think the entire Cheetah line is double action/single action though

Not sure which one to get. I guess Classic b/c it's cheaper in price.
