Beretta M9-A3 meets suppressor: The sound of silence

In one of our recent 2-mag reviews at TacticalHQ we had a look at the suppressor-ready Beretta M9-A3. In today's episode we shoot the M9-A3 with a suppressor and speak a little about pistol suppressors/silencers, and drop some beats. Would you recommend high sights for the beretta when shooting with this suppressor? I have the 92fs and I am not sure it I can install high sights

Yeah you just made me change my mind about getting a suppressor lol 😂 if this is a self defense situation, you want people to know someone is there. Wake the neighbors up...

That's HORRIBLE advice and a HORRIBLE strategy to have. Too much to go over in a little YT comment, but I see this being thrown around a lot and I can't help replying. 1: Losing one of your most important senses in a true self defense situation is NOT good, and don't let some knucklehead give you the "adrenaline will take care of it" BS. Adrenaline won't keep a gunshot from knocking your hearing out or the ability to communicate with your family, etc. I could do on for days about it. 2: If you think your neighbors are going to hear you shooting a gun in your home and groggily wake up and know exactly where the shots are coming from you're wrong. Even if it's in the middle of the day and they are wide awake it ain't happening. If you live in a rural area and you hear a gunshot, do you really think you're going to know exactly where it came from? If you're in a neighborhood and there are 50 houses and you hear shooting, same thing. 3: If you're already at the point where you're shooting bad guys in a self defense situation it's way too late to be relying on anything else (neighbors, police, alarm system) or worried about someone else (neighbors, police) being able to help you...

For measuring peak db SPL, cellphone mics wouldnt be accurate obviously. Youd need a proper db meter to have a more accurate reading. I used to own those Atec suppressor (sweden?), not much videos on youtube however, probably coz theyre not available in the US? We got them once in a while here in south east asia. Just subbed your channel btw.😊

Great and informative video. The audio balance was spot on this time. Out of interest, would you still need to use the pistol suppressor on that 92fs without tilting barrel? Or would a PCC carbine suppressor also work on the Beretta?

"Or would a PCC carbine suppressor also work on the Beretta?" It would work. Some suppressors have interchangeable "pistons": screw the spring-loaded piston in when using a tilting-barrel pistol, screw the fixed-barrel piston in when using a fixed-barrel pistol or PCC.

Yes you need the booster/neilson device still, because the barrel moves backward as the locking block disengages.

@@Miller_Time I wouldn't be able to tell you. I'm not very familiar with commercial cans, I form 1 build my own. I know there are quite a few options and they all probably work relatively well. I personally use sd tacticals booster, but I believe Liberty and Griffin are common choices as well.

Beretta recommends removing the o-ring while using a suppressor. Its only use is to retain the thread protector.

I enjoy your video on the suppressor it was excellent the complaint I have was that little clip you showed the little boy and I think his father buying a gun at the gun store and it make it to seem that he walkout with his gun on the same day. We also have to have a background check and it takes anywhere between 2-6 weeks before receiving our gun. I know people around the world thinks it’s easy buying a gun in the USA and it’s not. Unfortunately we do have black markets like anywhere in the world and bad people do get their gun there. Your video was excellent.

Depends on the state in the US. Plenty of states you can walk in and within 10 minutes walk out with a firearm

Please correct your video because you made it seem like you could walk into a gun store and walkout the same day with it....not true there is a background check and that takes 2-3 weeks.

Hi Herman, this relates to the suppressor, in South Africa it is not a controlled or licensed item, so it can be purchased over the counter. In South Africa a firearm needs to go through a licensing process which can take a while.

What makes it so silent? Is it the suppressor quality or the firearm model itself?

Nothing to do with the pistol's design, its a combination of subsonic ammo (so there is no crack because it doesn't break the sound barrier) and the silencer which muffles the explosion. You would get the same result with other pistols that could take a silencer and using subsonic ammo
