This pocket pistol is a fun .22lr or .25 Auto plinker for the range or whisper gun that you can unleash outdoors if local laws allow. Make sure to use good .22 ammo though as it is a picky gun. I can tell you Israeli Sky Marshalls אל על‎ (El Al) carried the 71 back in the day. BUT both Mossad (המכון) and US CIA have used this pistol for field agents (a lot). Typically taken into a country via a diplomatic pouch and then smuggled out of an embasy to the field, then back. Some military have also carried it for example in Iraq and got them in/out same way. Much is actually done like that by many nations. There are many other ways too. Very handy pistols for SERE, taking out lights, super covert carry, CQB wetwork, causing distractions, making sure cars can't follow, guard dogs/chickens/the like, etc, etc. Carried a few, never had a jam. I prefer the non Beretta threaded barrels for various reasons. Best redone on a high precision CNC with a jig to hold barrel. Many good silencers for these too. Even a few with wiped that are super small. There are a few mods to help make them smoother and cycle better both. If you modify it right you can get it to cycle very low velocity ammo, but it requires heavily modifying the slide to hammer fitup and or swapping springs. Swapable barrels is also possible as is making a slide hold shut out of the safety to make it REAL quiet. It's a micro pistol capable of a lot. If you practice you can get 50, 100 even more meter/yard shots at least on a man sized target (6-12" roughly circle), even with sights blocked by supressor. A fav gun. I love silenced .22lr in many flavours. It is the most do all caliber for a guy who can shoot like nobodys business. 22lr handguns are truly an experts gun though. And they allow quick aimed shots with almost no recoil, common, light ammo, totally "movie quiet", and ammo is more easily "sourced" worldwide. In a pinch where you can't get normal issue parts, the parts are even easy to make as some don't need to be fancy and some even don't have to be heat treated or be of good steel. Fun to smith on, fun to carry, fun to shoot, and man can you hide one easily even past a pat down if you are smart about it. And you can always move it once past. One of last guns I would part with. Owned many. HIGHLY recommended. Also, lastly, stick with Beretta mags despite the cost. Mec-Gar makes em and they are best mag maker out. Not sure there is a choice anyway. But that goes for sll Beretta models. BIG beretta fan here. Love the 71, 1951, M9, M82-84, etc. All good guns. Esp 21, 71, 3032 and M9.

I’m starting to enjoy the Beretta pistols offered on the market a lot more recently, but 22lr is amazing. I shoot Rimfire a lot in steel challenge with my 10/22 charger SBR. Most fun one can have. ​@@cerebralfirearms I highly suggest a look at a good 10/22 for target work. I know that seems somewhat counter-intuitive and bland (very bland and cleché) but it means options (like takedown etc) galore. But if ya want to keep it even quieter (not needed usually) a bolt is much prefered (CZ, Anschutz, Cooper etc.). That said there are some great things your can build up your self (best setups for 10/22 are custom to make each part the best). Even some solid aluminum stocks out now (!). Bedding is the key unless you have a solid frame stock like that. Biggest trick for quietness is to make sure to use a soft buffer and watch for wear as needed but they don't wear out fast. Thick barrels and match chambers are key. Barrel is most important part. There are some bolt hold shut devices out and also Volquartsen makes a neat toggle action but turns it into almost a bolt like setup with no semi auto ability. (Tradeoffs!) I want to do a 1:9 twist .22lr soon for Aguila SSS specific rounds. Specifically a light weight, super compact and takedown version. And in SBR. 1-10 scope, threaded, etc. They do amazing things for a small round. Next biggest place to spend is the scope. Always liked other peoples setups like that and want one now that I have metric plethora of awesome toys. All that said bedding is the biggest thing accuracy wise you can do hands down. Not hard to learn to do it on composite or laminate stocks. Use round dimples made with a round or ovular Dremel carving bit to make it extra strong and force that bedding into those holes. Great way to do forend tips too btw (like Ebony). Also a long barrel on a rifle is a hindrance (big time) and not needed due to .22lr using the fastest powder type made. 12-16" is all you need. 12-14" is goto range. Think 10/22 Charger barrel but with a stock and SBR'd. Two stamps but worth the coin, makes a handy takedown, quiet, accurate to 100/150/200 even 300 yd gun in good hands. And you would be amazed at how far a .22lr can go and penetrate enough to get to vitals. In tactical world with a long range, don't forget vests will stop most rounds. Vests are now cheap and common and better. Other aim points would be needed. Pen is more important, esp at low velocities. RN is best thus. HP makes for jams. Good match target ammo like Olympic grade or training ammo (semi Olympic) is best. No need for Mini Mags like on a pistol. Last thing is also use a bore alignment rod (Surefire or similar) to check supressor allignment. Always. Use petroleum jelly as lube then clean bore as normal or use spray cleaner. Supressor alignment even a tiny bit off and even if not enough to baffle strike the can cause deflection vs having it off the gun. Buy a 22 can that is indexable or make indexing marks yourself on the can with a snall and super sharp needle file. Key is consistancy. Best tips I got.

Correction... The Israeli mossad and their sky Marshals used to Beretta model 71 22 pistol it's slightly bigger than the bobcat they used a fairly large suppressor also for their assassination teams

Mossad does use the little 21 but Sky Marshalls only used the 71 afaik. 71 is a great gun too! Bit more reliable too.

@@AldoSchmedack actually the mossad did not use model 21.. they use the model 71 which is larger.. in fact they sell it imported into the USA with a phony suppressor pinned onto the barrel so they can get around the 1968 import law

I've seen many people with a lot of time do way longer shots than you can think of with these. All men with huge range time, not any average shooter. And no, it is not typical. I admit that. And yes, it mostly is point blank range, BUT it is PETFECT for instinctive & reactive shooters, which in CQB is the ultimate way to shoot to make time count.

I have a can for my Savage Mark II FV-SR and it is super quiet so I decided to buy a Beretta 21A Covert to use this can with. Big mistake the blowback action of the Baretta makes a lot of noise compared to the Savage so much noise in fact that my nearest neighbor 10 acres away starts yelling at me when i start shooting the Baretta. She never hears the Savage. Also with the can on the Beretta I can't hit anything.

So the bobcat has a lot of models. This is the 21a covert that comes with wood grips and threaded barrel. The 21a does not have the threaded barrel. Looks like they also come in FDE and stainless. I’m not familiar enough with these though compared to other platforms. Sorry if I didn’t answer your question.

Don’t buy one of these. I bought the 21a covert and after a couple thousand rounds of subs and standard cci the frame cracked just behind the pivot point. I sent it in to beretta and no confirmation that they received it, nothing for 6 months. Then at month 8 they called and said the barrel and frame are not warrantied. I wanted a silver pigeon’s and a modern 92 and I will never touch beretta and I highly, highly recommend that you don’t either. I’ve had to call a few gun companies before and was always treated better than any other product sector. Do not touch this gun, it will blow up and if your lucky and don’t get injured they will not stand behind their product.

My buddy made his spontaneously come apart before his first shot. Lmao he was trying to do something with the barrel and it just sprung apart. With that said, I’m sorry this happened to you. Hope you got ahold of something you are pleased with.

FYI... Short blowback barrels do NOT like Winchester ammo of any kind. 👎👎. Winchester works great in a rifle length barrel but not in short barrels.
