We no longer recommend Cabot & Alchemy Weaponry Arms products. Their customer service is absolutely terrible. Buy at your own risk, we had numerous problems with guns not being put together properly, lots of QC Issues and ACW even lost one of our pistols at one point... They found the pistol 3 days later. This is the kind of "custom" shop they are running over there. - kzbin.info/www/bejne/g2q2q5-Hp9Snnas If you want a real custom 1911 that is properly built, buy a Les Baer Custom, Sbardella Arms or Wilson Combat. - B9USA

I agree the 4K alchemy is worth every penny, the amount you pay for the amount of hours that goes into hand fitting that gun is a bargain. Rob is a magician and is also transforming Cabot. I actually only have 4 guns, one of them is an alchemy custom that is being built right now. I use to have many guns but sold them off to buy just a few high quality firearms. I personally would rather have 1 perfect 1911 than 5 basic production 1911s.
@andrewbates68403 жыл бұрын
Agreed. A good friend of mine always said I was dumb to pay 3K+ on a 1911. Then he shot my newest Ed Brown and started selling off all his plastic pistols to get one ordered.

Clearly, the issue is one of perceived value. These days, there are a number of very high quality 1911's available in the $650 to $1,000.00 range that are very accurate and reliable. That's all I require in any handgun. Firms like Springfield, Kimber, Ruger, Colt, Sig, etc., have spent a great deal of engineering time on how to make this gun as efficiently as possible and it shows. Their production volume also contributes to lower pricing. When one guy makes your gun, it's gonna cost more, a lot more. And that's fair. Dan Wesson is as far up the mountain as I'm willing to go. Thanks for the vid!

I just picked up a S.A. RO Operator. For a little less than a grand...the fit of the slide to frame and that I can shake it and nothing rattles, and just the overall quality makes it worth it. Also shoots good groups right out of the box. S.A. 1911s in my opinion are the best bang for the money. Been trying to find the defender series to pick up as well. Thanks for the video.

That is the very trigger I'm going to put in my DW. I'm guessing it's a Harrison medium pad. I love how he mounts the overtravel screw on the back of the shoe to be filed down and you cannot see a hole in the front. You get to detail strip it many times to set it but once it's done you never have to worry about it moving. John Harrison is a very nice person to boot.

High dollar 1911s, yes they are high quality, so are alot of the mid range ones. These high costs are nothing more than prestigious allure. Guaranteed 1 inch groups, only if YOU can shoot that well. 1911s cannot shoot themselves, so your talent creates your score. Nothing is more prestigious to me, is when I win tourneys, beating the wilsons, bears, night hawks, using my desert eagle 1911g. Imo buy at around 700 or 800, and spend the other 3000 dollars on ammo, and then lots of practice. Nothing beats experience.

All are beautiful 1911’s, I own eight other handguns but have a special place in my heart for my 45 acp 1911’s. Probably will never own a Alchemy, Les Baer, Nighthawk or Wilson Combat due to cost but it is fun to dream about shooting one day. Within the last month was lucky enough to find my dream gun a magnum research desert eagle stainless Government size 1911. Unfortunately due to quite a few fte with the first 350 rounds had to send in for warranty service. Have my springfield range officer target and a sig 1911 as backup until my MR1911GSS returns.

After watching this video I picked up a SA mil-spec for 650. I think it's a great gun and runs very nicely. I found the thumb safety to be heavy and difficult to engage so I installed the Wilson Combat wide thumb safety. Like young Beretta I am also a lefty and the new safety is easy to reach and has a very positive feel. I also added some Lok bogies and I expect that I will modify it more in the future. Thanks for the copious 1911 content.

Always great to see you guys with new material, I think at this time you’re the kings of the 1911 videos, nice comparison of both ends of the spectrum in the 1911 world, I’ve never shot a 4K 1911 but i can certainly look forward to it, young Beretta briefly mentioned Ruger 1911’s & he’s right they are not super tight, i own two in 9mm & 45acp, although they do run flawlessly, i was wondering if you all had ever looked at the Ruger custom shop 1911’s. I believe there’s two versions of the Doug Koenig edition, one is around the $1500 mark & the full custom one is around the $2500 range, just curious if you knew about them, thanks for all you do.

Chrysler 300 VS Rolls Royce Ghost. One thing I'd like to mention, as far as your comment about not liking the short trigger, and maybe you've tried this. I like the short trigger when paired with the arched mainspring housing, like on the MilSpec. If however, the pistol uses a flat mainspring housing. like most 1911s come now, including that Alchemy, a longer trigger feels much better to me.

If you paid less than $700 for your 1911 mil spec, I’m very envious. I bought the same gun, Springfield stainless 1911 mil spec with 2 mags and cocobola grips 2 years ago for close to $900 with tax. That aside I would do it again. I believe the Springfield 1911 I is one of the finest handguns on the market. Yes, I would love to own a Nighthawk or an Alchemy, but the cost is beyond me. The only issue I have with the Springfield is the plunger spring is too tight. I have to push it in with a brass pick to reinstall the slide release lever. Otherwise, looking forward to purchasing another one. By the way, great video. Very informative.

When it come to buying an heirloom quality 1911 it's all about getting trigger time with the various brands. Just feeling them and going off of the opinions or experience of others doesn't suffice. Looking up which ranges offer high end 1911's and traveling if necessary is well worth it. Join 1911 forums, offer to buy lunch for a friend or range acquaintance for the opportunity to spend some trigger time with their custom 1911. All of these potential measures will pay dividends to finding the model that truly suites the individual best.

I could care less about fitment. It can in fact lead to reliability issues in situations where reliability can mean life or death. Can a loose $600 gun put rounds center mass at 7 to 10 yards? Can the $4,000 gun do the same? Sure. I'll take the $600 gun and invest $3,400 into ammunition instead of fit.

I have a question. I just bought the Springfield ronin .45 today but found a kimber custom 2 and I wanna buy it but since I purchased one today so I have to wait to get the other? I’m in Texas and it’s not from the same place as the Springfield. Different store. Thanks!!!
@BERETTA9mmUSA3 жыл бұрын
You shouldn’t have to wait to get the Kimber, if you want to buy it go ahead and do so later today with confidence. The only time when buying firearms you have to worry about (from my experience) is if you buy like 10 guns in the span of a week or two or sets of pistols with sequential serial numbers... I’ve been delayed and then approved a few days later because of this in the past. - YB

@@markmatroni631 I have heard good things about both companies, but no first hand knowledge. We just heard from ACW & Cabot, and the prices have gone up another $200 in 2022. According to alchemy custom and Cabot 1911‘s price increases are being built into everything as their raw material cost of everything has gone up almost $200 per pistol. Basically they said they’re losing money on every gun they sell below $3,500 and that is only a couple models. You can compare that to the deal you are getting on yours. I think this will push the used Premium Custom 1911 prices up to almost $3,000. Sooo they always seem like a pretty good investment if you can own them for 5 or 8 years. The Alchemy Pistols fit and finish is 3 or 4 levels above the Springfield, that is not bashing Springfield in anyway as far as what you get for what you pay it’s difficult to beat Springfield for production hand guns. For me the Alchemy pistols are works of art, no detail is overlooked they are hand fit by master craftsmen, who take tremendous pride in their finished product.I challenge anyone , who reads this , to go on their website and look at the Charcoal Blue Prime model and tell me of a more perfect example of a traditional 1911
