I love the simplicity of short and light hunting rifles, they make the walk & stalk experience much easier, especially in dense or mountainous areas. The 16" is perfect for a suppressor (which we regularly use in South Africa) and would still be short and handy enough. Single shot isn't a real issue either. I have a Ruger no.1 - loves it for the same reasons. In 25 yrs never lost an animal due to not being able to give the next pil in time. I would love one in 7mm-08 or 260 Rem. Thnx for a great rewiew.

I have a cva scout which is the parent company’s version. I got it chambered in 44 magnum and I think of it the same way. It is light and handles well and tight manufacturing tolerances. It is a quality rifle for the price, mine is not a take down model. I’m waiting to get a scope on it but I know it will perform like it should. I also have an old version in stainless and chambered in 30-06 . I use it to deer hunt when it rains, I love using it. It’s a fine little rifle and if you have nich where you can use it you won’t be disappointed.

With the open sights I had issues too, but by tilting my head forward (that gets your eye lower) I can easily get a picture and I've found my mates can too. Just need to lean right unto the shot so your head naturally tilts forward, Also, from factory the rear sight comes at it lowest, and needs to be moved higher anyway, which also helps.
@BoltActionProductions2 жыл бұрын
If that works for you mate then that is all that matters but for me a rifle needs to fit and align to me without thought. Not the other way around. Enjoy.

@@Artie6937 the .308 with a 1:8 twist would most likely be better suited to the heavier pills from 180gr upwards. In saying this that doesn’t mean it won’t shoot the 150’s ok. I’ve got one of these in 30-06. I’ve noticed it catches randomly when I try and pull the tang to reload. Sometimes opens smoothly but some time it takes a couple pulls. Wonder why it’s not breaking open smoothly. Does this happen on yours Robbo?
@BoltActionProductions4 жыл бұрын
The only time I have had that happen is when a load is a little warm and the brass has expanded considerably. I only had the issue once and that was during load development. Other than that I would just make sure it is greased and oiled in the correct locations. Reloads or factory? Does it only happen after a round is fired?
@nicholas65524 жыл бұрын
Bolt-Action Productions factory ammo - tested with Sako Hammerhead 150 grain. Yep, usually after a round is fired but also occasionally with no round in chamber. I only recently got it so could also be a matter of “wearing it in”. It’s a great little rifle otherwise
